There's tons of actual industry-type porn stars trying to do the podcast/streaming thing because it's such an obvious path and few of them have a way to trade on their established brands outside of porn. Aella exists in some kind of other lazy niche where she advocates for her own irrelevancy. If people are more open to putting stuff on OnlyFans or whatever just generally because they enjoy it and not for pay, especially not the pocket change most get, then Aella's only claim to fame doesn't exist. I'd argue this is already the case, that Aella is behind the times and she sells to the people she does specifically because porn is taboo. If porn was more accepted people would check out Aella's porn and be able to compare it to others porn and realize she's not special and sucks. This completely destroys her narrative of "sex worker
not turning her life around to become world's greatest sex researcher" because she put in about the same effort, appears to have expected a high level of success by default and for a period seems to have achieved it. She doesn't have any compelling story about the why of doing porn or sex work as shown by her inability to keep it straight, the "I just enjoy it" story seems clearly false and doesn't even sound like others who claim this, and her insistence that it's nothing but good. She basically did it because she's a weirdo. That only speaks to other weirdos.
Once you strip the porn star/sex worker back story, what's special about her? Even if you keep it with the benefit of the "taboo" they've been pretty mainstream for a while. You don't even have to reach for something like Howard Stern (a podcast essentially) when Ron Jeremy and others have been on all kinds of normal shows with the same vague "wink-wink" porn star back story that never mentions the why of their fame. It's more normalized while still vaguely taboo than most people think, Courtney Cummz was a multi-time guest on
Fox News as a panelist talking about things unrelated to porn or sex.
That just leaves you with Aella's "rationalism", "libertarianism" and "research" and she might be even worse at those things. So overall her not being fat does not change that I would not have sex with her.
To whomever mentioned Aella's insistence that her research isn't Twitter polls when it is, I think the caveat to her is that often her polls are *posted to Twitter* but actually a link to some Google doc or Survey Monkey type thing. That's actually very funny to me. Like there's some quantitative difference between those two.
I'll just assume she reaches for a defense that academia uses things like Survey Monkey, which is true but with a caveat. It's just the method for hosting the survey to collect responses, the survey design still has to be good. Aella is far more disinterested in that aspect.
