I saw it as Ukraine getting Pearl Harbor’d also.
I was just hopeful in the very early days of the Ukraine war that Europe would get its shit together and not wait for the US to fund the whole thing. There was a promising moment where the Biden admin was still shitting itself not knowing how to respond, since they estimated Kiev would fall in a couple of days and were very public with that. But Poland was immediately like “wait, if we just GIVE you stuff, you’ll shoot the Russians with it? DEAL.”
Fast forward a year and a half, and yep, we’re footing the bill. Fuck. Wish the Russians would just go home and bother us with a bunch of PTSD paraplegics later.
Would’ve been nice of them not to side with China and to just keep being like “nuh uh, we’re not European, we’re special” while everyone pretended to believe they invented vodka.
