I think most here can agree that the upper echelons of Hamas planned this out pretty well from a strategic point of view, but whatever organisational composure they had hasn't exactly dissipated amongst the rank and file. From what we've seen, it seems like the individual cells behaved very much like individuals once they were let loose in Israeli territory.

yeah there was an interview posted in this thread where it was laid out the hamas leadership planned it out in secret and only told the local commanders right before it happened. im guessing it was the cell commanders really didnt know what the objective was, whether capture hostages, kill everyone, etc. so i think that is why you see such a disparate set of actions from the various militants. there probably really wasn't much communication, maybe not even an overall plan itself beyond a general attack order. i gues this is one fo the weaknesses of a cell structure is that you dont have the total command and control you need at times.

With regards to the rave, it didn't seem unlikely to me that Hamas might've been genuinely aware it was occurring. Another user pointed out that the festival was located smack dab in the path of an important objective

im kind of mixed on it. i really cant decide if it was planned out ahead or it was just a target of opportunity. it was posted int his thread that the location of the rave had to be moved to this location, it was originally planned somewhere else. so it really is possible the paragliders just saw the festival on their route and decided to go for it as it was a prime target. im not sure we will ever have a definite answer to this.

I'm conflicted on this. On one hand, freedom of speech, on the other. Hamas is considered a terrorist organization, even in the US. I think they should be allowed to protest but everyone protesting should be put on a watch-list.

I have a question about the water situation because to me it seems like it might be very serious.
Does the gaza strip have other sources of water? Humans can only survive maybe a handful of days without water, especially in the 80f weather that Gaza would have. I don't know if they have any water wells, and I don't know if they have the capacity to do desalination in enough volume.

If the gaza strip hadn't stockpiled water or have access to other sources, then it may be just a matter of days before the vast majority of it's population just start dying of thirst. men, women, the elderly, children, babies. all would suffer, with the weakest dying first.

Seems like it could be a reoccurring issue
