It really feels like even if we take JFs story at face value that something about it has to be illegal. I refuse to believe you can just drop off retards with nothing in the middle of no where.

The issue with that is he was obviously the last one to see her. If he killed her, there is still a minimum amount of story that he needs to make up to answer obvious questions. If he asks for a lawyer when asked where his wife is, that immediately raises red flags for an investigator even though that’s not enough to secure a conviction on its own. Red flags mean further investigation and further investigation risks them finding hard evidence against him.

If he wants to masturbate his ego by killing someone and getting away with it, the first step would’ve been to kill a complete stranger. Then the strategy you outlined works better.

of course you're not going to dispel their suspicions like that, but suspicions don't get you convicted, evidence does, so at that point all you can do is keep your mouth shut to make sure you don't accidentally give them any. after that, all you can do is pray that your planning, execution and cleanup of the murder was done well enough to not have left traces that would lead back to you.

IF JF's story about dropping her off is true, and she died of exposure, the best a prosecutor could hope for is criminal negligence causing death. Even that wouldn't be an easy case though.

No, it would be the easiest of easy cases for a prosecutor to win. As far as the law in canada goes, if you drop someone off unprepared and something like that happens you're pretty much automatically guilty of negligence resulting in that persons death, at the absolute bare minimum. He's fucked on that side of things as he's admitted her supposed intent to go live in the woods and how unprepared she was, and yet actively facilitated it anyway. Hello automatic conviction. His behavior aside from that includes clearly not doing anything to dissuade her from doing so, or recognizing - as any sane, rational person would, that this is not a rational thing to do and without proper supplies, equipment and experience, the person is going to end up injured or dead - and failing to report it as such or ensure she got evaluated, the prosecutor is going to say 'you're not an idiot, you knew this wasn't going to end well, you took her out there unprepared, left her and never said a word to anybody nor followed up, you wouldn't have done that unless you intended harm to come to her' and go after him for murder. Quite easily. Canada isn't the US, you can get serious prison time just for dropping a hitchhiker you picked up on the road in a bad spot, at their request and they turn up dead or seriously injured as a result. Its one of the reasons many people won't pick up hitchhikers these days, especially in places like eastern canada and BC

You'd be surprised. Hypothermia works both ways. Eastern canada can get very, very hot and humid from june to september. Plenty of flaggers on road crews end up in the hospital in the summer from heat related issues, and so do tons of other people. Especially out in the woods. Not a place you want to be living outdoors without adequate water and proper clothing for it, anymore than you would want to wander the desert in arizona unprepared. The weather in the atlantic provinces is alot like the more humid parts of florida at times. Something to do with weather patters I think. and when fall comes around the temperature starts dropping fast. I mean it could be 35C one day and a few days later its 8 - 10 when fall hits, and it keeps dropping steadily from there. By november you better have some indoor shelter or you're going to die out there

The reason they believe him: "RCMP have learned that her last known sighting was on Albert Street in Moncton on June 19. She was last seen wearing a brown faux leather jacket, black pants and had a school bag with her."
I don't follow this kind of stuff but I'd like to think they would more specific if they actually had any intention of finding her. Sighted by who? An eyewitness, a camera? What was she doing? Did she travel in a certain direction? Did she seem scared, confused, carefree?

He mentions the first time they interviewed me as if he doesn't realize they wouldn't be interviewing him a second time unless they considered him an actual suspect rather than just doing the standard and expected interview of the last known person to have seen her. The very fact he brings up a second interview after this encounter happened implies the cops checked out his claim of being seen on camera and couldn't find anything corroborating it. By his own words he's also describing the way a cop would be speaking to him if he suspected JF was lying. Thats very confrontational given the circumstances

First, he should very much know what they have in regards to the camera footage placing them at the gas station if what he is claiming is true. He should know that by definition because he was supposedly there and knows they checked. and there is no way they would ever truthfully tell a suspect they believe him like that or that they've ruled him out as a suspect. They would need serious proof that he couldn't have been involved at all, which they couldn't have at this point and to have some idea of what actually happened to her. Since they don't know what happened to her at present with certainty its absurd to believe they would rule him out. If they told him anything of the sort its because they suspect him, think he's an idiot and are trying to get him to let his guard down so he'll talk more freely and say or do something incriminating

Yeah its totally low IQ people questioning his story and not at all because it is suspicious, nonsensical and contradictory, and can't actually be backed up by any evidence, while at the same time coming off exactly like the kind of thing a guilty person would say and do, to an almost comical degree.

Somehow I suspect a judge and jury won't respond well to him getting angry and accusing them of being low IQ idiots because they question his behavior and statements. Canadian police put out a call this month for information about an internet-famous woman who has been missing since June. Élora Patoine, 30, was last seen on June 19, two days after her partner dropped her off at a gas station.
But while investigators seek information on the “high-priority file,” scores of YouTubers say they’re already familiar with Patoine. She’s the partner of 39-year-old Jean-Francois Gariepy, a French Canadian white nationalist internet personality who has called for a “white ethnostate” and hosted white supremacist figures like Richard Spencer on livestreams. To Gariepy’s fans, Patoine is known as “Mama JF,” a recurring figure in Gariepy’s videos. Her disappearance has led to friction on the right, with some personalities suggesting foul play, while Gariepy says video evidence puts him in the clear of any crime.
Gariepy has suggested Patoine’s disappearance is evidence that men should have more legal control over their wives. (He and Patoine are not legally married, but he said in a recent video that he considers her to be his wife.)
Reached for comment, Gariepy told The Daily Bast that Patoine was traveling.
