The high from the recent Pokémon DLC died down a week ago. Just judging from the generic title and thumbnail, it'll do nothing, maybe get 30k at most.

Edit: Yeah, I underestimated how popular generic long-form Pokémon retrospectives can be for young viewers. I just looked at the decline of her other content, while noting how over-saturated the market is for Pokémon content.

Still, 30-70k views sounds about right. Nothing said so far is particularly inflammatory, and her opinions on Pokémon go as far as how sexy Gardevoir is.

That is, unless she's ready to catch hands with her biggest critics of her previous videos, which I also doubt since she's been meek about responding for the most part. And even if she musters the energy to make a large response video, she doesn't have the maturity to respond any differently than she would 6 years ago.

She could pull a 180° and do a positive video on Steven Universe now that people are softening up to the show, but positivity has never been a staple of her media criticism. It'd be a solid PR move for her image, but the effort would come off disingenous, even if it magically did happen.

It's clear her brand of video is a relic of the mid-2010s, and she already ruined her social credit doing the trendy thing of being a token trans woman hating on a woke show. Her niche very competitive now with the likes of It'sAGundam and Cellspex, so Lily's playing catchup as a toxic influencer.

I hope the video flops just to see Lily get desperate. A complacent Lily is a boring Lily, after all.

She disingenuously ignores the fact she's the biggest reason why fans of the show felt uncomfortable and embarrassed to show appreciation for the show in the first place; after all, if a trans woman hates the show, everyone else should dogpile on it too, right?

That's not to say the show is perfect (it isn't), but even that nuance is beyond Lily, and she sees it as proof she's right about Steven Universe in the end, which is the childish thinking that burns bridges for her in the first place.

There's also the problem that her voice and commentary is incredibly grating. She mimics moviebob with breakneck pace and no pausing between sentences. Long form essays need to not give you a headache while you're watching them, and the only engaging part about the review are the hot takes at the end of each segment, the rest is just riffing the main campaign.

Video does make me want to start that google doc about Madhouse I was talking about, it would add some more dimension to the video if people are put off by the autistic Gardevoir skits.

Joseph Anderson's videos are a lot more even handed than Lily's style of content. They're also that long because, for the most part, he talks a lot slower than Lily.

That, and his stream edits are genuinely great content on its own, adding to the value he provides.

You might still get some curiosity clicks-- as one of those people that tries to find long videos to play in the background while I work, I would personally have had the gut reaction to click on a 6 1/2-hour Pokemon retrospective. But I would also back the hell out pretty quickly once I ken to how obnoxious Lily's voice and cadence are.

There are already plenty of long-form Pokemon retrospectives composed by people who actually care about and analyze the games (rather than cheating in a Ralts and rare candies and just steamrolling everything). I can't imagine anybody sticking around for the weird innuendo and self-referential in-jokes unless they're already a fan of Lily's.

This is pretty late and kind of silly but last I checked on Madhouse I noticed that she had an animation (which I didn't realize at the time was meant for the retrospective) explaining to a furious, murderous G that the developers didn't include Mega Stones past Gen 6. And as somebody who is a 'fan' of Madhouse, I was very confused because there was a whole arc about how G refuses to use a Mega Stone (and has a dark and edgy murder forme to make up for it), but now she's angry that she can't use a Mega Stone? I know Lily hates continuity but it felt like she forgot this whole vital character trait of G's to make a joke about how her Gardevoir is an unstable psychopath.

Which IS, at least, in character for G.

After years of reaching the low-hanging fruit, it has finally caught up to this disingenuous fuckhead. And if the SU video bombs then it's over. His YT career is going to crash, and burn very quickly since the decline has been very clear to people, and it's only going to get much worse.

The only reason people give a shit about the name Lily Orchard is to see him finally get his due in court. Nothing more.
