Hit by Youtube's AdBlocker detection. Help needed.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Any progress on finding a permanent fix for this bullshit? I would just leave the platform and go to an instance like Invidious but Sponsorblock doesn't work there, which makes it almost as bad as it is without adblocking.
If you're using uBlock for ad blocking, make sure to purge your cache and update your filters. That's how I got around it.

That's what I've been doing, but if you check the reddit (yes, I know) uBlock's been in a constant cat and mouse game with youtube since they're constantly updating the anti-adblock code to catch out uBlock. It's actually gotten so bad that there's a weekly megathread.

The current method is to check the pastefy link with the list of id's that correspond to the updates and seeing if the listed fix for uBlock matches, and if not you just have to wait for them to fix it.

Youtube stopped updating as much for a few days but now they're back to pumping out the updates, so it's back to being bombarded with anti-adblock popups.

YT sure is getting desperate lately...

The vast, vast majority of youtube's users don't use adblock, so if youtube is scratching around for the pennies it hopes to get by converting a few adblock and brave users, then it must be in absolutely dire financial straits. We may be about to see it crash and burn in real time. Better get downloading your favourite videos.

Not the ideal route: Joining a group of five other friends, family, or strangers in a Google "family" and paying a fraction of the cost for an annual YouTube Premium subscription. This is the better option for those who watch YouTube on any streaming device, like a Roku or Firestick, where it's nearly impossible to block video ads.

What if instead they really want to "socially engineer" people to be "woke" via ads?

(what are YT ads usually about anyway?)

Before I started using NewPipe to avoid the YT ads on mobile, I used to get a lot of shitty mobile game ads, whether it was injected into the video itself, or took up a spot on the search result/video list. There were a variety of other ads such as tool shops (think Home Depot or Lowe's), restaurants, and foods, but I don't really remember them, since I was focused on waiting for the "skip ad" button to become active.

I think YouTube recently got in a lot of trouble for having risque ads on the platform, since YT basically gave up on YouTube kids and allowed children into regular YT. Letting kids on the platform also led to an increase in the enshittification of YT, since policy now basically forces everyone to censor themselves.

Quick reminder that on the bottom of the adblock popup there's a little "Report an Issue" button that you can use to tell Youtube to fuck off with. It takes 0 time and effort to do so there's no excuse not to tell them to eat shit every time you see a popup.

I will not pay Google to not have ads.
I will never pay Google to not have ads.
I will block the ads.

I refuse to pay this shitstain of a company for the "privilege" to watch a video without being bombarded with advertisements for the anal sex buttwasher 5000 megatron.
No matter what it takes, some autist will find a permanent solution for watching youtube without the ads in the way we could beforehand. With Sponsorblock too.

With this latest scheme, Google has ensured that I will never pay them for Youtube "Premium".

(what are YT ads usually about anyway?)
From what I remember, most of the ads were either outright scams that content creators never would have gotten away with, or generic megabrand advertisements.

Sponsorblock is built into FreeTube. It’s all open source so you can audit it for yourself. FT also lets you download videos which I find quite handy.

If you're still experiencing issues than I'd suggest just waiting a while until things settle and consider using one of the alt frontends suggested here. It's frustrating I know, but with how popular Youtube is, it's inevitable that a free and stable solution will come about.

If you're a MacOS fag like me there's a desktop app called Clicker for Jewtube that blocks ads and has other cool features. I do get the "stop using AdBlock, you nigger" warnings but I just refresh and it goes away.

Started seeing this yesterday. I'm on brave, not even using an adblocker, just the browser's natural blocking. Rather annoying because I don't know if the adblock I used to use for Chrome (the one @Night Crawler brought up months back) works or not, may as well give it a shot I suppose.
I've said this elsewhere, this is just going to push people to find more ways around Google's measures. You cannot prevent this Google, man will always go above and beyond to be cheap, which your corrupt asses should know firsthand. Maybe if ads weren't so constant and invasive, or had ads people would be actually interested in no one would bother blocking them.

I started getting this a day or two ago.
Did follow the suggestions with default settings, deleting my filters and updating everything on uBlock, and it seemed to partial work for a while. Then today when I got home from work, again the same popup occasionally at the video start.
But way worse is the sidebar recommendations. I have no idea wtf happened but I just reported all of them, and some got taken down. For unknown reasons, I get YT Kids videos recommended, like Peppa the Sow and all sorts of insane shit, but only in the sidebar.

Okay well now it seems like uBlock is actually working again, at least when I'm using it in FireFox

Welp my Brave+ubo setup is getting them now. I just have to close them out and they go away, but Idk how long that will last. Is adnauseum still mostly working for people?
