Fat Acceptance Movement / Fat Girlcows

I hope this spa happens because I can already see an amazing end to it.

It gets built lazily and sloppily because everyone involved has never seen a hammer before. Then the deathfat influencers come in after weeks of hyping it up. Once they arrive things get real bad real quick. Demolished toilets, broken hand rails, someone gets stuck in a tub, someone else breaks their ankle getting off a massage table.

I give it 2 days max before all the complaints cause the owner to just vanish and the staff quickly follow while the landwhales slowly begin to realize that they are stranded.

The amazing archivists here collect all the hilarious posts from the stranded cows, we all laugh, and then some youtuber will take all this info, make a video, get 4 million views, and then say kiwifarms is the devil.

It will most likely not get so far that they will actually start even building it.

However if it did that would be hilarious, assuming that they finish it without fucking up building or health codes they will be surprised that there are not that many fatties willing or able to pay 6-8k for two days of spa because that is most likely what they have to charge, considering the staff required to keep up this experience.

...its like a kid telling you how when he grows up hes gonna run the north pole or something.
When I look at this project, I can't help but remember my big childhood dream, which was roughly, "When I grow up, I'm going to buy a big house in the country, and take in all of the kitties nobody else wants."

The Appalachian, for all its good intentions, is as uninformed by and disconnected from adult reality as my 7-year-old self's big plan to run a kitty rescue farm.

There's definitely room for projects that arise from strongly-held emotions at the unfairness of the world, and that address genuine human needs. But what I get from the Appalachian after listening to Burns talk about it, and then listening to her talk about getting prescribed Ozempic, is that the primary emotion driving it is shame. With all the talk of making guests feel "safe," and "wanted," and "respected," it's primary aim seems to be to buffer its obese guests from any feelings of shame whatsoever, by removing all possible triggers.

Good luck with that, when all the shame's coming from inside the house. Each deathfat's carrying it around with them, and it doesn't take much to make it rise to the surface, especially when they're part of a crowd that uses the words "microaggressions" and "fatphobia," and takes them seriously.

The project is doomed; it's a castle in the air, and nothing will ever come of it (except maybe some entertaining infighting as it crumbles for good).

Working on the post the indigogo is set up like Ash did her others flexible so she gets the funds even if she does not get the amount. They also fully admit that theres no chance of anything being tangible until 2028.
Burns confirmed she doesn't even own land to build this project on—which I was curious about. I get that she loves the Canaan Valley, but I couldn't see any logical reason for deciding to put a retreat center there unless she already had the land.

The eyes of sadness.

Marissa suddenly seems to have way more plants.
I hope the microorganisms in the soil get into her body and fix her like the worms from Futurama.

She SHOULD question the validity of her art.

Yikes. Doctors recommending an otherwise "healthy" 30 something woman not to undergo surgery or even another pregnancy -- that should scare her skinny. She's had a pulmonary embolism! She's got beetus. She's clearly got the overall health profile of an aging, fragile senior except she's 40 years younger.

The Spa IndieGogo has started and it is run by Ash the GoFundMe scammer. (Archive) It is set flexible so they get the money regardless. It is up to $3,000 dollars.

She SHOULD question the validity of her art.

1. History of PE definitely puts her at risk. I would agree, WLS or plastic surgery is too high of risk for where she is now (at 280 pounds.). If she were 400+ pounds, the risk of surgery would not outweigh the negative health impact.

That said, her “my levels are fine” is sus. She’s diabetic, albeit controlled (she doesn’t say whether that control is achieved through diet and exercise alone, or with oral medications or insulin.)

But what’s concerning is her pallor. Her hands and arms seem quite yellow compared to the flushing/redness in her face. And her eyes are dark. When people get those raccoon eyes of darker pigmentation, it’s usually an early indicator that there’s some sort of cardiac issue underlying.

2. Who the fuck taught Marissa that wide angle room spinning camera trick. It’s more nauseating than just her usual dancing/ flopping around.

She’s still doing the open mouth / tongue thing that she thinks is sexy but makes her look idiotic.

So they're running a fundraiser for a future fundraiser.
Say you're scamming people without saying you're scamming people.

Maybe they’re hoping mouthing the right words will score them a cheap land lease from a local tribe… and cheap labor.

I can’t make the location make sense. Every super fat travel blog we see points out the difficulties; from being squished in seats and hours stuck in limited positions. Yet this apparently is being contemplated for the relative middle of nowhere with hours of travel to get there.

Is there enough of a local vibrant culture to attract the type of staff they’ll need, over and above any housing issues?

I know just the smallest bit about building standards and such but man, building to ‘full’ accessibility standards is going to cost the earth.

Who are these corporate sponsors they’re hoping to get and what’s in it for them?

Do they seriously think there are enough super morbidly obese and disabled with pockets deep enough to go once, never mind the return visits needed for a sustainable business model? I’d be curious to know if they asked how much people would be willing to pay for a stay at this spa?

You're thinking about it too hard. It's a con targeting a group of people who, if they've ever worked, have worked behind a computer their entire life and whose only social contacts are enablers or others who have exactly the same kind of life as they do. Even people who are active in society have trouble wrapping their heads around just how complex the industries that support their lifestyles are. Individuals whose entire incomes come from enablers or feitishists have little to no frame of reference as to just how much work it is to support them. All they know is that things happen if they shout about it on Twitter for long enough.

They could build a whole bariatric compound, complete with double-reinforced bathtubs and enormous chairs and powerdoors, and it all won't be enough. Someone will want a hoyer lift for the bathroom. They'll buy one. They'll break the hoyer lift. Someone will bitch on Twitter. They'll have a restorative circle and a fundraiser. The staff will go on strike and vote to unionize. I sure hope we get to see it happen.

Golf cart needs to be named The Assanti-Mobile, of course.

Oh God oooooooo oh nooooo AMBULANCE AMBULANCEEEE!!!

.... I GOT IT!
What if their "accessible" shit is literally just giant tents and nets made for tarping down heavy loads but converted to a kind of cot or hammock? It's all ground level, cheaper, and very hard to fuck up. You could also just buy used military metal shack things, or those large open tents you see at fairs. Their "help" will just be fellow fats (because fats can do anything thins can!!!1) and it makes it significantly easier to move or change shit on a dime (for a healthy person)

Oh lawd, one of the few things that actually really boils my beans is people wasting food either as a joke or just for clout. I don't mean to get all like "That cake could have fed a family of Somalian refuges to privileged SHITLORD!" but there's something profoundly tone-deaf about smearing food all over yourself while posed like a giant baby while also saying " bruh I don't even know what this piece means"
