It could go either way. Isom is an actual name which complicates things. The religious Isom & the comics Isom are both fairly obscure things and its hard to see a comic creating confusion in the marketplace. There might be an argument to be made about search engine confusions.

The World Wildlife Fund vs. World Wrestling Federation case is being somewhat misrepresented. The WWF (and previously WWWF) had been using that brand in the US for many years. When a couple of scandals happened with the wrestling organization in the 1990s, the World Wildlife Fund got upset. There was eventually a deal between the two organizations about how the wrestling organization would use the term "WWF".

The Wrestling WWF basically ignored the deal that they had signed with the wildlife fund. Then it went into the British courts which have their own system of law and WWF wrestling lost.

The thing with trademarks is that you can have two marks with similar or identical names. That's not the issue. You could have an ACME Construction Company and an ACME Sex Toy Corporation. The issue is avoiding consumer confusion. Dick having his retard minions lie and insinuate to the charity that there's confusion doesn't really count much for proof of that in my eyes.

Is the International School of Ministry really a charity? I don't believe their website makes that claim. Their donations page says nothing about being a registered charity. Weird thing to omit on a donations page for a charity. There are two organizations similarly named to the "International School of Ministry" which are registered 501(c)(3) organizations: International School of Ministry-Greater Houston and Summit International School of Ministry. While the ISOM suing Eric July is based in California, these two are registered in Texas and Pennsylvania.

Here's the Facebook page for the former which was registered in 2019. Their email and website have no association with the ISOM filing the lawsuit, but they definitely use their logo on some of their Facebook posts and the people running the page have attended genuine ISOM conferences.



Going by their Youtube and earlier Facebook posts, they're a Houston church called the Blessed Assurance Gospel Church. The earliest I can find them mentioning "our" ISOM is in 2016.




Prior to this, they were known as "Jesus Christ Ambassadors Ministries" which explains their "jcaministry1" URL. Specifically, it seems they were the "Pillar of God's Truth & Wisdom int'l Ministry" division of the JCA Ministries. Whether or not their use of the ISOM name in its charity registration has the ISOM parent organization's blessing is ambiguous.



The Summit ISOM is "the Bible School of Times Square Church" in Grantville, PA. This is the truly baffling one, as their ruling came in 1995 and their Youtube bio says they were formed in 1994. That means they've been using the name for 30 years which may predate "our" ISOM. They don't use any of "our" ISOM's imagery or logos in any of the sites in their linktree or talk about attending the International School of Ministry's conferences.



That muddies the waters quite a bit. Regardless, even if they're both registered charities and associated with the larger ISOM organization, these are not the entities suing Eric July. If I'm wrong then I'd love to be shown how, but I can't find evidence this ISOM is a charity itself.

My take (if anyone cares): July's recent stream was terribly clumsy. Reminds me of his stream with Nick. He's not quite ready for prime time. Nick & EVS's criticisms were mostly on point, particularly on this: The more July discusses it, the more The Ministry/Good Shepherd has a case that July is hurting their brand.

- Nick repeated that he didn't want to be "dragged into the drama". This time is the justification is that his audiance wants to know.

- Nick believes fans are fanning the flames by spamming The Ministry therefore actively preventing a negotiation for a licencing fee, etc.

- Criticized July for tipping his hat on negotiation/legal strategy in the stream. (LOL - the irony.)

- GS Ministry brings in $1.2M/year and most staff are volunteers, $300K in overhead.

- GS could negotiate with July to get a licensing fee for the use of the name - that seems to be their goal per the Vimeo vid.

- On whether Dick & Co interfered by contacting GS with the emails, Nick maintains that it cannot be defined as torturous interference regardless.

- After watching the Ministry/GS video response, both Nick and EVS think their case is much stronger against July.
