"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

"Internet detective stuff" was SA speak for doxing, and the rule was applied kind of loosely. Helldump actually had entertaining victims to bully at first, the best of which was proto-lolcow Two Worlds, who had a lot of parallels with Chris-Chan and whose ED page still made me laugh re-reading it now.
Those early threads were fucking funny, Null might loathe the comparison but KF fills a certain Helldump-shaped void in my soul. Two very different places but they scratch the same itch.

Regarding Goldbelly, it's actually more than just baked goods. Because I have a good relationship with my family, they've sent me some stuff via Goldbelly over the past few years (around stressful times, birthday, a holiday, randomly if my mom's feeling nice). Yes, I've gotten luxurious cookies and cupcakes (no pies) that would make me fat if I were an opioid addict. But I've also gotten deli products (some really good butters, fancy cold cuts, bread, etc. all in one package) and an whiskey package (a couple of nice glasses, woodford reserve bourbon, and a couple of other related items). Most recently, for a certain J*wish holiday involving apples and honey, I was sent apple strudel.

So while LowTax may have liked the luxury pie and cookie items, there's actually a lot more interesting stuff you can get through it. Yes, the first time I got the box I was thinking "Isn't this what LowTax would pig out on? Am I gonna end up shooting myself if I eat all this food?" But as a recipient who has not (yet) killed myself, I would highly recommend trying it out if you have a family member or friend not in your immediate area and want to send them a nice gift.

Here's one for you real MATI enthusiasts out there - on the october 10th stream, null said something about "fuck copyright", and he's held similar sentiments before. Does anyone know the timestamp or have a clip of that, or of a similar statement being made by him?

Also @Null I'm just starting the Lowtax stream, very comfy. I miss the old lolcow specific streams so this is a treat. Thank you!

Yeah, you can get Franklin BBQ through GoldBelly which is pretty awesome if you're not from Austin.

The Lowtax stream was amazing. you did a great job telling it as a story from start to end. the ending really affected me, and truly inspired me to not be a lazy piece of shit and make something of myself. I'm young, so I have a ton of stuff ahead of me, but I can be lazy so I need some extra motivation to push myself that extra mile. Great job

What I remember most about Lowtax was something he said in an interview. I forget exactly what they were talking about, but he stopped for a moment and said, "the Internet isn't fun anymore." This was after the Shmorky revelations, so he had gone through realizing he had a peepee poopoo pedophile in the same room as his daughter for years, and he wasn't allowed to process that on his own forum. Knowing what I knew about Lowtax at the time, that quote really stuck in my head.

Also, Logan Day came off as a BPD psycho-bitch in Null's interview, but holy shit does seeing her face while she speaks kick it up to another level. Her face twists and contorts through about seven different emotions within the span of a 20-second video. That is like Chernobyl Elephant's Foot levels of crazy, no wonder Lowtax killed himself. I would probably self-terminate too if I ever stuck my dick into that level of LA bio-hazard.

A small nitpick about the part where you've shown "Yogscast".

The photo shown was in fact not Yogscast, but Hat Films, a trio known for making Minecraft machinimas, who also did some Minecraft trailers for Mojang back when Notch was still in charge.

Now, they did collaborate with Yogscast a lot back in the day, however the main duo behind Yogscast are these two blokes:

The one on the left is Simon and the one on the right is Lewis. If you've heard about the Diggy Diggy Hole song, the Jaffa Cake gobbler on the left is the one that made it up on the spot for their old Minecraft series over a decade ago.

There were also many other contributors to Yogscast over the years, but this duo is to Yogscast what Vinny is to Vinesauce.

And yes, all of the people here are British.

That was a superb stream. It flew past and I really enjoyed it. It was very balanced and came bearing a cautionary lesson that will, of course, be ignored by those who could benefit from heeding it the most.

The success or failure of mini-docs like this. that focus on Internet personalities, rests upon whether a listener comes away with an impression of the subject as a nuanced human being, as opposed to a caricature. The fundamental struggle in the existence of every lolcow is the one between their humanity and their most negative traits, which have become grotesquely exaggerated, usually in part as a result of their own behaviour. It is fun to zero-in on the ridiculous and occasionally horrifying aspects of such individuals, but it is also good to stand back sometimes and take a more measured and empathetic view, where their misdeeds, while not being excused, are given context.
