I actually feel pity for the old bastard. The guy has no idea how ideologically twisted the rest of the fandom have gotten over the decade. They simply will not tolerate non-progressive viewpoints, but he went and poked the beehive. Maybe one day soon some easily preventable terror attacks will pop off on American soil again from those coming through the border, and he'll surely have a long hard "I told you so" to the rest of them.

In all seriousness there's definitely gerontophobia & ageism in the Fandom with anyone showing opinions that aren't held by the unhinged zoomers that make up a majority of the online presence being thrown overboard.
These millennials and zoomers who live online can't understand older generations who grew up during the the Cold War lived in fear of invasion and were taught that the last line of defense is themselves. So it only makes sense that when people of that generation see there's a huge number of fighting capable people flooding over our borders that it's possible there could be danger hidden in those numbers.
The Fandom can rot for all I care, since it repels any sensible people from staying.

Internet in general is overwhelmed by zoomers who never stopped to realize how fucked recent history is not to listen to their parents lessons. The 1900s could be defined by "America getting dragged into two wars then being very afraid of being dragged into a third". That mindset still exists for a lot of people from the generations that grew up in that. Zoomers are the first generation in the US since the Lost Generation that hasn't been defined by a war, hot or cold. Like the US isn't the whole world, but you guys are a huge chunk of the English speaking population and dominant in the English speaking internet sphere. Not only that, but furries are a very American phenomenon that took a while to spread to other countries, so it should be assumed greymuzzles almost all are remembering the cold war and the younger batch of greymuzzles at least remember 9/11.
9/11 especially is the collective trauma that the US never recovered from. It's the day the terrorists won. The paranoia of the US hit an all time high. Everyone became an enemy. Your delicate, but functional, internal peace shattered as the country went from "tense between left and right" to "rapidly escalating" and never fucking stopped. Your sense of security and invulnerability was shattered, and you went from a free country to one trying to tell itself is free while having enough surveillance going on to make Stalin jealous down in hell.
Like, I don't blame your country for being dumb fucks over it, in hindsight you over reacted, but now zoomers want over correction, because they don't understand the history of how things got there and refuse to understand, thinking they know better.
You were an isolationist nation until Germany poked you in WW1 and Japan did so again in WW2. You were late twice because you decided "not our problem" until it became your problem. Then the USSR threatened to drag you into WW3 until you puppeteered them into self-deletion, and frankly you needed to clean shit up better despite wanting to just be done with it. Then the proxy wars from the Cold War bit you in the ass in the Middle East and 9/11.
It's the right call to be a paranoid 900lb gorilla. It's why I actually support American interventionism. You and all your allies are safest when you do, and it makes us all rich as fuck when we're trading with each other, and those military ties encourage those trade ties.
Isolationist are generally those who never had to fight I find and are too arrogant to actually listen to those who did. The right wing yells for isolationism because "not our problem", thinking you can stand alone. Left wing says "we are the problem" thinking the problems will go away when you do. The veterans look around and think "we're fucked when the trouble comes back." And the zoomers? A generation of isolationist left and right.
But zoomers going to zoomer, because they haven't looked away from their monitors or ever even attempted to have empathy. They just attack those who disagree then get confused when their parents were right all along. Kids always think they know better than their parents, but most kids grow up enough to learn to listen. Zoomers sure as fuck haven't.

There seems to be three types of boomer furs that are still active, that did stuff back then.
1. Furs that have long since moved on, out of the fandom, or have very tiny footprints still
2. Okay old furries that still like the art, and are pretty decent, keeping out the nonsense politics.
3. Boomer furs that were something back in the day, stagnated, then jumped into the fandom and are desperate to be accepted by the younger generations.
The last ones are the most insufferable. Twenty five years ago, they were putting Blazing Saddles on, reciting quotes from it, all while mocking people "bringing politics into the fandom, but these days, they're hyper political BLM socialist supporters. Those type also tend to be wealthy, bragging about "making it big" in the tech industry, yet spout all kinds of socialist nonsense. I think they do this because they generally kept to their core friends group of old folks, sometimes interacting with younger furs, but no having the energy to really to really get back into the furry they enjoyed. They are full of "Well I did this" or "I drew this comic twenty years ago", but these days, they just whine on Twitter, going along with the loudest voices on furry social media.
There's also ones like CigarSkunk, who are hyper neocons, but they're fairly rare and get marginalized quickly.
