Nick: Most Christians agree that disturbing the dead is a bad thing to do. However, my interpretation is different, so this is no big deal.
That never made sense to me. Since the bible talks about how Christ disturbed fhe dead so hard they let him go back to life so they could get some peace
Because about 15 other places use the name “ISOM” and didn’t get the ministry after them. Again, this is only happening because Dax wanted to fuck with Eric’s business for the fun of it.
Not what I’m asking. I’m asking why he did not trademark it. Because he always had plans to try and get big. It would have been a smart move. It seems like an odd oversight considering Eric seemed very on the ball with everything else.

I have a new theory that Rekieta a while ago said he doesn't like doing law stuff on youtube anymore because he's intimidated by all the lawyers he came into contact with. Everyone he brought on the panel has more legal experience than him and I thought he looked uncomfortable whenever they start talking law specifics. At the time I thought he was adverse to confllict as a host, but maybe he simply realized he's out of his depth. Also the worst day of his life might be him realizing he's a failure.
that's a pity, and also a stupid way to look at it. The stuff of his I've seen that I enjoyed was partially so enjoyable because he was just a generic lawyermans. being a lawyer already entails a depth of knowledge, as does running a successful youtube channel, he should get over his ego if he's intimidated by having on experts. quite the opposite, being a middleman between joe normal and an expert speaking in detail is a great skill and something he proved he's capable of.

idk, he's not ugly. first pic especially is someone that keeps in shape, he's no george clooney but he's alright. alcohol and sitting in front of a camera for 12 hours a day seems to be worse for him than having a big schnoz
Nick just never evolved beyond the 'watch trials and offer commentary'. Hell, he stopped even doing that because it was 'not fun' and Law & Crime could do more of it than him.

Emily Baker has her own niche carved out and keeps to a tight format and style.

Attorney Tom does reaction content that leverages a bunch of different lawyer experience AND has a partnered podcast on Spotify.

Nick should have been up there with them doing his own version and brand. He seemed to be dipping his toes into political commentary with the Beck, Crowder, and Jones appearances, but he cut that right off with the disastrous Rittenhouse interview and the dearth of trial content plus rage quit of Murdoch.

Funnily enough, he seems to be leaning back towards politics as an election year rolls around...

Chandler isn't fat but I wouldn't have sex with a karen-y paralegal who's a "former" feminist.
Jebus I can't write today. Started writing she doesn't look troon-like and it morphed into that.
I find her weirdly compelling, but there are all kinds of red flags around her. Ironic, since she's talked about red flags.

White is an interesting guy. Basketball player, played hs in Minnesota and was amazing, played college at somewhere like Iowa State? Got drafted by Houston, but he's got a fear of flying, so he ended up never really playing NBA ball. I think he ran for the House a cycle or two ago, but didn't get anywhere in part because of that and maybe other issues.

Edit: I just cannot type today, some clarity added

Nick’s legacy online

Openly not “practicing”

That is hilarious because wtf did he actually think he would be doing as a lawyer if not that? They aren't paying you $200-$600 an hour because it doesn't mean shit for their lives. I'm more convinced he thinks he probably should have just taken the career behind the Hardee's dumpster like he said in the CUK College podcast, lol.

So aren't paralegals just jumped up secretaries? It's not a position that requires a qualification, is it? In the UK, you have sub-lawyer posts for people who haven't quite qualified yet (trainee solicitor, legal executive, etc.) but they all have some kind of qualification process that you need to pass. We used to have a post titled legal clerk for the unqualified men who did what I imagine paralegals do, but I think it's kind of fallen into disuse lately.

If you have literally no legal qualifications at all, calling yourself 'future lawyer' is a bit of a fucking stretch. Look at Rekieta himself. That guy had passed all his exams -- still couldn't cut it as a practicing lawyer though.

Most of them have two year degrees. It is a trained profession for sure, but not a licensed one. You just do a lot of the shitwork for whatever firm you work for.

You think he might Lowtax himself soon?
I've noted a number of parallels between Balldoman and Lowtax. That said, Nick is nowhere near the low Lowtax was at, near the end. Rackets still has drug money, his wife hasn't left him, and his sense of self is still to the moon.

It's something about lolcows with money.

Maybe if he starts shooting tranny pr0n in the house, or hosts a Ghetto Gaggers scene, that would be an omen. But for now, he's just a degenerate libertine asshole, weird shit and parallels aside. He's just too egotistical to want to end it.

That said, I unironically believe all of his kids would be better without him in their life. Edit: just to be clear, this is not a call to action- it is simply an assessment by an outsider, and one who has seen what alcoholics can do to their brood.

I just can't imagine having parents with bottles stuck up their ass and cunt on in the internet because they were drunk out of their minds. This wasn't even leaked from their own private phones. They publicly posted this.

Midlife crisis is a hell of a drug.

He has to do that, so that he feels like he's practicing law.
He hasn't actually announced it but it is I suppose possible he has given enough advice to Dick or has some fiduciary duty enough to be "practicing law" enough to be bound by legal ethics. However I believe (as a normative ethics and not legal ethics opinion) that a lawyer's obligation when talking to the public is different than when representing a client.

This is exactly the stuff I found slimy and meretricious when (most of) LawTwitter was acting in this manner over Vic's case. They got the outcome right but almost continually misrepresented the facts and law, even simple 1L shit like the elements of defamation per se. About the only ones who came out of it looking like they had any integrity (other than PopeHat who wasn't even really a part of it anyway) were Dunford and Akiva Cohen. I'll note that Dunford, consistent with his prior opinion, is siding with Nick even though he has no reason at all to like him.

Other than the two rather asinine moves of the picture copyright thing and the bar complaint, Cohen was also generally consistent about correcting his own side when they overstated or outright misstated legal principles.

tl;dr if you're actually representing a client you are ethically (legal ethics-wise) often required to do and say things you do not morally (normative ethics-wise) actually agree with.

But while it is difficult to disentangle that from your normal mode of thought because it becomes so deeply ingrained, you at least have to try. Once you start applying purely situational ethics to every aspect of your life you are one step from becoming a moral monster.
