The appeal to iDubbbz was always both. Abuse does not require Machiavellian scheming. Abuse is simply habitual mistreatment of someone. A lot of abusers don't think they're being abusive.

I would argue that Anisa is intentionally manipulative. Anisa is clearly mentally and emotionally abusive to Ian. She uses humiliation and nagging to make Ian act how she wants. I'm not sure if she dangles sex over his head to get him to do what she wants, but I wouldn't be surprised.
