The Church of Saint Porphyrius has become a sanctuary for those displaced by Israeli bombing, across all faiths.

This is the same place that was claimed by some to of been destroyed by IDF bombs early into the conflict but this turned out to not be true.

So Biden is off to Tel Aviv-Yafo.

Many possible reasons. I suspect Biden is going there to say "fuck off with your invasion until we get the hostages out".

There are so many dominoes that can fall in the next 7 days that all lead to different outcomes it's starling. Of course, missteps in the Middle East never happen, so what could go wrong.

I mean, is there definitive proof it was Israel at all? Or is this just the ambassador's allegation without any real backing? One of the links to the allegation is dead, and the other is from Mondoweiss, which isn't shy about their disagreements with Israel.

Like, three years later, Islamic Jihad blew up the Marine barracks, likely with assistance with Iran.
He goes over the evidence in the attached, start reading on pdf pg 135 pdf pg 144 is the juicy stuff, but the evidence is this the rockets used to attack his motorcade were US made LAWs with serial numbers that traced back to Military Aid given to Israel, and the people who claimed the attack, the FLLE, were later revealed to be a Mossad created and funded organization, so I think its probable that Israel ordered a hit on a sitting US ambassador.

During the almost 8-Hour Meeting tonight between U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken and the Israeli War Cabinet, it was stated that a Condition for President Biden’s Visit to Israel was the Approval for Humanitarian Aid into the Gaza Strip which has now been Okayed by Prime Minister Netanyahu; this is why the Announcement for the Visit took place right after the Meeting had Ended.

now why tf does israel want biden to come, i have no idea

Zelensky denied visit to Israel. Cry me a river Zelensky, you're old news now and your 15 minutes of fame is expired.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked to visit Israel amidst the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel.

Unfortunately for Zelensky, he was denied entrance into the country and was told “the time is not right.”

Do you think Zelensky wanted to visit Israel to pay his respect or maybe to regain some of the spotlight and get more foreign aid from the United States

It's the strongest possible statement to Iran.
In terms of US support for Israel? I guess. I hope Iran doesn't pull anything.

During U.S. President Biden’s Visit to Israel on Wednesday we will reportedly receive a Comprehensive Brief of Israeli War Goals and Strategies while also hearing how they plan to Reduce the possibility of Civilian Casualties during Ground and Air Operations.

All you can do is just take one day at a time. I'm expecting the worst while hoping for the best. We're just peons with no geopolitical pull; there's nothing we can do except wait and see how this shakes out ultimately.

There’s something off about this article. The wording of the quote sounds too much like native English rather than a translation from Arabic, and why would they quote a random priest rather than the Archbishop? I can’t find any corroboration of the article or even if this priest exists. It’s likely that this church is providing shelter, but the framing of the article is suspect.

Here’s an article of a similar event happening in 2014:

300,000 Iraqi civilians died as a direct result of the US invasion. If even 10% were children, that's 30,000 deaths. I'll eat a top hat if Israel kills more than 30,000 kids.
That link tallies Iraqi civilian deaths from 2003-2023 over a period of 20 years. The vast majority of those deaths were caused by insurgent and opposition forces. That includes Iraqi regulars and Fedayeen, al-Qaeda, Sunni and Shia militia, criminal gangs, death squads and fucking ISIS.

In 2005, the Iraqi Body Count project documented 7,299 civilian deaths in Iraq from the initial March 20, 2003 invasion up to the end of major combat operations on May 1st. That's about 1,459 civilian casualties per week. It's been nine days and Israel has killed 2,329 Palestinians, 700 of them children. I stand by my post.

the group that did it, the Front for the Liberation of Lebanon from Foreigners, was literally created by israel and the weapons that were used for the assassination attempt were literally traced back as ones America sold to Israel. I mean at some point if it talks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...... you're just an anti-Semite conspiracy theorist.
