the virgin new YT vs Chad old YT

new YT:

- only likes visible
- ads, ads everywhere (and blocking them is being blocked)
- worse search engine
- vids on front page picked based on "monetization" or "social engineering"
- promotion of The Narrative™ and censorship of "wrongthink"
- YT "influencers" may fixate too much on "monetizing"
- a lot of SJW and "politically correct" stuff because Clown World
- "Try YouTube Kids ... Comments are turned off. Learn more"
- there's that bland flat "smartphone" look all over the site
- site doesn't even load without JavaScript

old YT:

+ rating videos with stars or at least visible dislikes
+ less advertising (which can be blocked)
+ better search engine
+ videos on front page based on what's being watched most
+ less censorship and no "The Narrative™ Says" blue boxes
+ not as much fixation on "monetizing"
+ much less "politically correct" stuff before Current Year
+ no comments disabled because the algorithm "detects kids stuff"
+ more customizable personal pages
+ more functional without JavaScript

YT continues the quest to get ever crappier: now on the front page, the first suggestion is always an unblockable ad video.

I started getting hit by the pop-up on every video about 3 hours ago, so I installed the User-Agent Switcher extension and set it so that the user agent on YouTube is "Mac OS X/Safari 16" and since then I haven't seen the pop-up at all.
trying this for now although if i'm logged into my google account anyway i'm not sure why it seems to be working

I'm thinking it's being rolled out at a crippled snail's pace to prolong the effectiveness. If they just mass ad cucked everybody at once then there's be more outrage and a workaround would be discovered faster.

Looks like they are in the early stages. Testing out, seeing if they are getting false positives. I've been refreshing the page before the timer is up and the video just plays.

For me, it seems like the notice appears based on the time of day. It pops up for me in the morning, so I switch over to Freetube and use the Youtube page to add comments, but late at night, Youtube plays normally on Brave. It makes me wonder if these warnings are manual inputs on Youtube's end instead of automatic. Could a million Hindi Jannies be behind all this?

More likely the filter lists are getting updated as the day goes along. They then push a new change in the morning.

First I only got the pop-up that could be closed immediately then next day I started getting the one with the timer. Since uBO didn't catch them I started looking into it and found out about the 'three strikes you're out' version, which pissed me off royally. I swear, every once in a while corpos just decide that it's unfair that the glowniggers get all the hate, so they do something that makes me Johnny Silverhand levels of assmad. Already had both ReVanced and NewPipe for my phone because YT on Android sucks harder than a toothless romanian crackwhore, now I've got FreeTube for PC as well. Google seriously underestimates my hatred for ads if they think their gay little pop-ups will get me to watch fucking advertisements.

Also, back when YT got a new CEO a bunch of mouthbreathers rejoiced how everything will get better. Anyone that thinks switching out a femoid jew with a streetshitter is an improvement is so retarded, having sex with them should be prosecuted under bestiality laws.

For now, system-wide AdGuard still works on both YouTube and Twitch when used on their usual websites, if you want to use your usual web browser.

We will soon see major websites like these rewritten as single-page WASM programs utilising rapid, personalised API key rotation to try and stop us from circumventing these controls so easily. When that happens, everything from yt-dlp, mpv, streamlink through to FreeTube will also break, until someone writes a bit of cheatengine-style code to work around the next generation of enshittification.

ublock origin or umatrix extension allow to block elements. People who stay logged out (And you should) are unaffected when you're using up to date proper ad blocker or brave browser which blocks all ads no matter the source.

Stay logged out use unlock origin, learn to use brave and for love god do not use YouTube with a Google account logged in.

In my case I just have to close the occasional pop up that doesn't lock anything, even if it did using umatrix, you could block every related element

Word of warning following ad blockers are cucked and let ads through because companies paid them and they share data with Google.
Adblock plus
ublock
Adblock
And many other garden variety "privacy extensions"

TLDR stay logged out and use brave if you are feeling lazy

Yeah, and you can see when their script has been updated here: -

The most recent version is at the bottom of the list, which, at the time of writing this is "b7e9cd34".

As for using Brave, fuck that browser. The most recent update for Brave also installs a VPN service which runs every time you start Windows. They do not inform you that this will happen, nor give you any option not to install it. Also, if you uninstall Brave, the services remain. See here for more info: -

If they don't use "whitelist" or "blacklist" because they don't want to sound "racist", why not use "yeslist" or "nolist" instead?

They used to employ Elliot No-Dong, I expect nothing less from a pozzed company like Google.

Funny about the whole Javascript thing. They were experimenting with HTML5 for years back in the late 00's to the early 10s. What happened with that? HTML5 isn't that good at aggregating data or something?

Alphabet should pull the plug now. It's inevitable, why wait? They know the site is unprofitable and probably causing a big drain on their budget. They'll shuttle in a new CEO soon to make the announcement. If you've made a livelihood off of Youtube you deserve NOTHING. That's what you get for putting so much weight into faceless kike-led tech corps.

I got the popup, but just refreshed. But now I get blank ads before each video. I can just refresh and they are gone though. Very annoying regardless.

Youtube 2.0 when? Guess I'll be waiting on a fix to brave's blocking algorithms. I imagine they'll be able to stay one step ahead of the pajeets Jewtube hires.

idk how long my luck will last for, but so far I've not been cucked by YT.

Have installed FreeTube and am giving it a go, though it seems like it doesn't like importing playlists or history, even though it apparently has the option to do so. Might have to try importing my playlists and history into NewPipe on my phone first, and then exporting it straight away to go into FreeTube.

I don't know about playlists, but I was able to import history by following the instructions on the their docs page. Make sure you got google exporting it as JSON, that was the part that tripped me up the first time.

You ever go to a video on Youtube and see it says it's trending number #4 but only had 12 million views in the last 24 hours? Then you go the video that was just released and it has 2 million views after 30 minutes and it's not trending at all? Then it never trends over those next 24 horus. That's what Youtube is selling. Not advertising. Control of what people see. The advertising is just the "side hustle".

Same as when I search for a subject I searched for 6 months ago. And Youtube goes oh yeah this person uploaded the video subject you were searching for 6 months ago but we decided to not tell you at the time.

Is there a way to block embedded YouTube from appearing on other sites (in Firefox)?

I can turn JavaScript off but that reduces or even eliminates website functionality.
