I think the biggest part of it was "Hurr durr i want something that rhymes with "October" without considering the consequences if he did anything that wasn't "schlock".Same thing with Schlocktober, which admittedly is a decent name for a series, but he's now demonstrated how it's also pigeonholed him. He wants to keep using the same branding even when he's talking about good movies, which means he's inadvertently calling them schlock.
planting ideas on Twatter that showrunners/writers/producers will see and grab and turn into the thing Bob was "predicting", and then Bob will crow "SEE I WAS RIGHT I PREDICTED THIS THING CORRECTLY, FRIENDO!" and be all smug about it.What exactly is Bob good at, besides delusions of grandeur and converting beer into bodily waste?
Cumming in his own hand if only because he's well beyond the 10000 hours it takes to become an expert at it?What exactly is Bob good at, besides delusions of grandeur and converting beer into bodily waste?
That reminds me, I forgot "peeling an orange with his tongue," though that was probably just something horrifying that my mind blocked out to protect me.Cumming in his own hand if only because he's well beyond the 10000 hours it takes to become an expert at it?
Lucky you. That reminds me, I forgot "peeling an orange with his tongue," though that was probably just something horrifying that my mind blocked out to protect me.
How many "real TV" appearance can Moviebob lay claim to? (No, being featured on Howard Stern doesn't count.)Glenn Greenwald: "The lesson that I thought we had learned from 9/11 is that when we follow our rage and we allow [government] to claim authoritarian powers... we end up going down paths that we find [...] counter-productive and [...] shameful."
Moviebob: All [...] events, info, news etc [Greenwald] talks about being "censored" I hear about CONSTANTLY, usually before he complains about it. Where's the censorship? Unless "censorship" [...] means "I [...] can't get booked on real TV..."
It's an "insurrection" when protestors wanted to overturn Fuckwit in Chief Biden's electoral confirmation. When protestors wanted to overturn Trump's election in favor of Führer Hillary, it would have been called a harmless "redressing of grievances".Sawyer Hackett, Democratic strategist: A quick primer on Jim Jordan, Republicans' next contender for Speaker of the House: Voted to overturn 2020 election...
Eh... despite supporting California ballot proposition 22 in 2000 and ballot porposition 8 in 2008, marriage (of any aignment) is a subject on which I've become more apathetic toward in recent years.Hackett: ...wants to ban same-sex marriage...
Good!Hackett: ...supports a national abortion ban...
I don't care if the Republicans lose just so long as the Democrats lose.Alexandria Occasional-Cortex: The idea that GOP are about to nominate Jim Jordan [...]for "Speaker of the House" is an attempt to save their majority... they deserve to lose.
Climate Change™ isn't a problem. If that's the case, why hasn't water in the Atlantic Ocean around the Statue of Liberty risen over the past 100 years?@HeartlandSignal: Pennsylvania State Representative Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton County) cites Genesis 8:22 as proof that climate change is not a problem: "As long as Earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."
Moviebob, believer at large: Sometimes I want to move to one of these places where they still elect Jesus-Juice psychotics to actual position just so I can[...] raise my hand like: "Yes, point of order? None of that shit happened."
If I'm interpreting Coffin's words correctly, this is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, so that "but" is justifiable, .Positron: Peter Coffin suggests that killing people is a bad tactic; fortunately, unlike Coffin and religious crusaders, Bobby has a moral compass.
Peter Coffin, essayist: Moralist criticism of imperialism is a massive mistake. Death and suffering IS TERRIBLE, but fighting imperialist often causes death and suffering, too.
Moviebob, "ass say" -ist: That "BUT" after "terrible"...
"It's good when WE do it" applies to Antifa's approach to fascism.Moviebob: is a flavor of "it's good when WE do it" you usually only hear from genuine religious crusaders.
I dunno. Leftist movements tend to take more delight in innocents being harmed than Right Wingers do (see BL[DR]M and Antifa)...Will Stancil, Atlantic knucklehead: the far right promises the endless catharsis of watching people you hate get harmed...
Or the aforementioned Black Lives (Don't Really) Matter and Antifa.Stencil, Atlantic dunderhead: ..they must continually unravel all rules and norms and create ever-more [sic] subjects of hate.
Positron: ...because the far right are the ones who "unravel all rules and norms".
Sexy Senior Citizen: ...sort of like the Left and Nazis?
How can X-Twitter get any worse when repeat TOS violators like Moviebob still occupy it?@Esqueer_: Just when you think [X-Twitter] couldn't get any worse...
Just like you held Fuckwit in Chief Biden accountable for catching COVID-19, a disease that Joe said you wouldn't catch if you took the vaccine? Or are you going to treat Trump as the scapegoat for your willingness to become a scientific guide pig for an experimental medicine?Moviebob: If I found out something even a little bad happened to me [...] medically, because of someone who faked...
Why not? You've already violated X-Twitter's Terms of Service thousands of times. What's one more going to hurt?Moviebob: ...I'm probably not allowed to say what I'd do to everyone at that firm.
Even if they're not media-literate, some people already do hold contradictory ideas, many of which on X-Twitter. Just look at any account with the phrase "vote blue to save democracy".Matt Zolter Seitz, media critic: Was media literacy always this bad [...] Or did technology make it worse? Either way, good luck to any artist asking audiences to hold two contradictory ideas in their heads at once.
Moviebob Bingo time! Score "Self-Descriptive Statement"!Moviebob, un-critic: My sense is that [...] people have always been incredibly stupid but vaguely ashamed of HOW [...] everyone else would mock them if they found out. [...] We need to bring back "feeling BAD and GUILTY" about oneself"--but for "being stupid" instead of the fake moralistic religious/superstitious shames.
Correct.@CanisLupis1365: The vast majority of humans are neither stupid nor cruel.
The fact Moviebob was forced to go to school, I'll wager.Moviebob: YouTube has turned arguing about movies into an even dumber version of what I hated most about academia...
So... Moviebob and other Leftist zombies.Moviebob: ...the fact the people you're arguing against don't have any thoughts of their own...
And Moviebob deserves permanent unemployment, permanent debt, and a permanent address at Arkham.Deadline Hollywood: The Daily Wire Is Making A Live Action Snow White Movie Starring Conservative YouTuber Brett Cooper...
Misogynistbob: When Brett Cooper tries to do the "dumb kid didn't know better" pivot from this current grift to "regular actress" [...] people better remember who she was and make sure it doesn't work. All these people deserve to end up scavenging in dustfields [sic].
Letting your children watch any of Moviebob's videos should, by law, automatically warrant a call from Child Protective Services for child abuse.Tim Pool, Timcast: trying to make Rick and forty [sic] without Justin Rolland is just about the most cringe thing I can think of.
The Serfs: Trying to groom your 16 year old fans is worse.
Peter Coffin, essayist: Moralist criticism of imperialism is a massive mistake. Death and suffering IS TERRIBLE, but fighting imperialist often causes death and suffering, too.
Moviebob, "ass say" -ist: That "BUT" after "terrible" [...] is a flavor of "it's good when WE do it" you usually only hear from genuine religious crusaders.
Because, as demonstrated thousands of times, it is damn near impossible for Moviebob to think.Flexo: ...maybe Bob's sunken look is a sign of [Bob's] brain imploding because...
Christine Pushaw, Team Ron DeSantis, 2022.02.14: Thought experiment for those who consider themselves "liberal": How would you feel in [Trump] declared a State of Emergency due to DC riots in Summer 2020 & [...] froze bank accounts of anyone who donated to BLM [...]?
Moviebob, 2022.02.16: Why are "thought experiments" like this supposed to be [...] in any way enlightening?
I wonder if Moviebob ever joined a debate club. If so, I wonder how frequently Bob got laughed off the stage.Moviebob: We're in real life, not Debate Club getting scored on points?
Perfectly summarizes why I wouldn't care if the irredeemable (and irredeemably stupid) Moviebob plotzed tomorrow. (And mark down "Inappropriate Use of Question Mark" on your Moviebob Bingo card, while you're at it.)Moviebob, 2022.07.26: Imagine how much better off the entire world would be if we'd all been a little less concerned about [...] the continued-survival of irredeemably stupid people?
A-yup!Flexo: [Moviebob] does that stuff all the time.
An ironic title, given the creator's intellectual acuity...King Dead: Bob's always been bad with branding [...] His channel name is pretty meh [...] The Big Picture, his biggest series, doesn't really explain what it's supposed to be at a glance [...] Game OverThinker...
Admittedly, while I refuse to watch any of Bob's material, using GEMs acronym for "Good Enough Movies" is actually [grits teeth to suppress inevitable pain] a rare showing of intelligence on Bob's part, as it demonstrates the concept behind the essay...King Dead: ...is a tortured portmanteau that has never sounded right [...] At least Really That Good/Bad is at least self-explanatory, though it also reeks of pretension.
Ya know, from experience the fastest way you can stop treating a person seriously is moment they go about "DA KULTUR WAR GUYZ!!" Be they ASJW or SJW, the moment that shit comes up the rest becomes like sounds made by the adults from the Peanuts cartoon."Go woke go broke" misses the point that its not about changing anyones mind its about denying their opponent any territory in a culture war.
I'm pretty sure he didn't come up with the name because I'm certain I've seen it used elsewhere before he started his series. Maybe he was first, but I doubt Bob was ever smart enough to come up with a pun like that.Same thing with Schlocktober, which admittedly is a decent name for a series, but he's now demonstrated how it's also pigeonholed him. He wants to keep using the same branding even when he's talking about good movies, which means he's inadvertently calling them schlock. As much as I'm tired of everyone using "spooky" in their Halloween content (I could honestly go the rest of my life without hearing "spooktacular" and be happy), at least it's broad enough to cover anything horror-related.
I feel like his brother's failed patreon is what would have happened had Bob come along even a few years later. Now he was blogging for a while and had his youtube channel for a few years, but it was also the time period that helped him. Back then, everyone was online because the recession made it difficult to pay for things, so if you wanted entertainment, free websites were it. Plus, everyone and their mother had a pop culture site and so they needed bodies to provide content for ads. A lot of lolcows owe their success to that period, because it's the only reason anyone knows who they are.Bob only ever got as far as he did because he got in the game early. If he was trying to start out now with the same lack of effort, he'd never amount to anything.
I seem to recall Bob claiming he was in debate club(s) in at least High School. He could be lying out his ass but who knows at this point.I wonder if Moviebob ever joined a debate club. If so, I wonder how frequently Bob got laughed off the stage.
It's one of the few things in his branding that isn't terrible, and honestly there's so many bad horror movies out there that he really isn't at risk of running out of content (Best of the Worst is a perfect illustration of this, not just from their Halloween episodes either).I think the biggest part of it was "Hurr durr i want something that rhymes with "October" without considering the consequences if he did anything that wasn't "schlock".
I'd forgotten about that one, but I think that's because he hasn't done one of those videos in literally years.Admittedly, while I refuse to watch any of Bob's material, using GEMs acronym for "Good Enough Movies" is actually [grits teeth to suppress inevitable pain] a rare showing of intelligence on Bob's part, as it demonstrates the concept behind the essay...
So, "Good Enough" movies to MovieBob would be the ones he considers mediocre, while the ones he considers good would be "Really That Good," and the movies he personally hates are "Really That Bad." I should try to compile some lists to figure out which is which, but as an example:Yep, his last one was almost five years ago. You'd think there'd be more than twelve movies that are simply good enough, but I guess not!
Buckaroo Banzai is better than Independence Day. I can't defend BvS but it doesn't the insane amount of hate Blobby has for it.So, "Good Enough" movies to MovieBob would be the ones he considers mediocre, while the ones he considers good would be "Really That Good," and the movies he personally hates are "Really That Bad." Why innovate when you can regurgitate?Yep, his last one was almost five years ago. You'd think there'd be more than twelve movies that are simply good enough, but I guess not!
Yeah, but you and I are well adjusted enough that we can look at the movie, go "this isn't a very good piece of entertainment", and move on. Blobby though is a consoomer whore that is mad that WB would DARE to make an attempt to unseat his beloved Mahvel. This is like that dream Bob had about Miyamoto giving him a sword to cut down all the FPS bros and save gaming.Buckaroo Banzai is better than Independence Day. I can't defend BvS but it doesn't the insane amount of hate Blobby has for it.
Buckaroo Banzai is better than Independence Day.

Yes, you did."Genuinely Excellent Movie"
There, I did "G.E.M." better than Bob.
Words cannot begin to describe how much "In Bob we trust" makes my skin crawl. It is a phrase ripped straight out ancient, unhallowed tomes. It is a written expression of the yellow sign. Bob does resemble the degenerate, cannibalistic New Englander from "The Picture in the House" by HP Lovecraft. Perhaps it was a warning for future humanity.Words cannot begin to describe how much "In Bob we trust" makes my skin crawl. It is a phrase ripped straight out ancient, unhallowed tomes. Speaking of degeneration:

Bob, we already know this could be the best version of Snow White since the animated movie, and you would definitely trash it for ideological reasons. I don't expect much from it except probably a competent, low budget fairy-tale movie that people would ignore except for the stunt programming. Which you, Bob, are falling for like a total retard.
