I missed the stream live. This morning I pulled up the archive. Don't be Rama Rama started playing. My immediate assumption was that Jim must have died, because why else would you open with that song? Poor Jim, I thought, cruelly taken from us a few weeks before Halloween, when he had so many Gundam kits still waiting to be assembled and perhaps more on their way. Thankfully, the world's only tolerable weeb still wheels himself among us. In fact, I was witnessing Josh's foray into music criticism. It will be him who authors the scathing one-word, zero out of ten, review for the next Lana Del Rey album on Pitchfork Media. Added to this is a fun new game: Is the Kiwi Farms CEO having a stroke, or is he attempting to pronounce aboriginal words,? I am pretty sure that some of those mangled sentences would constitute hate crimes under Australian law.
The failure of boomers to step into the role of village elders reminded me of a passage from one of Redmond O'Hanlon's books. During the 1980s and 1990s, O'Hanlon made three expeditions deep into tropical rainforests (in Borneo, the Amazon, and the Congo) and wrote about these journeys. One of his accounts - I can't recall which one - concludes with him fetching up at a staging post between civilisation and the jungle. There are two generations of tribespeople present, who are so different that they might as well be separated by thousands of years. The young men have been exposed to modern culture. They are obnoxious arseholes, playing loud music and openly goading their elders - a group of stoic men who were raised in the forest, and who have spent most of their lives subsisting in that hostile environment. Eventually one of them loses his patience with his tormentor and nonchalantly beats the crap out of the boy, who is incredulous that he had just been punched in the face. I am not suggesting that boomers begin whaling on the young, although Harry Brown is a decent revenge film, and there will always be something deeply satisfying about those videos of 90-year-old mugging victims, fighting off someone who is young to be the boy whose education they once sponsored, through a charity, for as little as 50p a week. I do think the boomer generation lost the will to step up and speak hard truths from personal experience, and the loss of that has impacted negatively on society.
My further takeaways from this stream:
I have no doubt that Meigh knows (either consciously or sub-consciously ) what she is doing when she holds her toddler in front of her, in an attempt to entice men. I genuinely fear for Roxy. Working up the escape velocity necessary to break the gravity well of the Gunt was a good start. Even without Ralph, she remains an awful human being, with a very questionable taste in men that errs towards perverts and narcissists. She has no business raising a child.
Now that nature has rebelled and the trees are lining up like Birnam Wood and openly engaging in doxing, when can we expect to see Matthew Prince taking a chainsaw to the flora growing on Cloudflare property? Is that mole-person, Liz Fong, going to start spontaneously calling the wives of forest managers in the dead of night, for a totally not-threatening girl talk? I am pretty sure this what the butchery of the tree at Sycamore Gap was about. Someone decided that since it had doxed no less a figure than Robin Hood, in the film Robin of Sherwood, it had to go.
Whoever it was who childishly vandalised Ubuntu has inadvertently resolved the problem of what to call a woman's genitals, now that men are also women (and also gay, according to Rekieta). Terms such as 'front hole' and 'bonus hole' were rightly dismissed as dehumanising.. On the other hand, what woman wouldn't want her downstairs private parts described as her Primary Cavity - first and foremost above all other cavities, including (controversially) the mouth? I bet all those men's rights advocates, who were being blue-balled by the matriarchal, family-orientated culture of the Philippines, would be inches-deep in Asian tail, if they were chad enough to tell a girl: "I want to baste your primary cavity with my front plunger."

@Null fun fact about Ethan and Hila in Payday 2, the community really disliked them. And now with Payday 3 released, most of the characters who were added to Payday 2 are MIA and their fate is left ambiguous, making their return in the future a possibility. Despite this on a dev livestream when asked about Ethan and Hila, a dev said that they weren't coming back

18th of September. Last month. Was kind of a rough launch from what I saw, but that is to be expected with modern games I guess.

The game is trash. They never expected Payday 2 to be as much of a hit as it turned out to be because literally every other attempt they made was garbage. I refunded 3 and will patiently wait and see if they unfuck this shit and continue on with PD2.

I played Payday 2 for the first time in many years this year and noticed that with the new hideout that is in the game you will see Hila and Ethan around the place even if you do not own the dlc.
Not having xp sounds like ass. Very few games I have played have actually pulled off challange progression well.

The game released and they couldn't have fucked up worse. The game is online only, and was going to have DRM but that was removed, the same dev was asked on stream about what if the servers fail, "They won't". They held tech tests and the servers broke each time, and didn't work for the first week after launch, there is no offline mode so the game was literally unplayable. Their excuse for this was so that they could prevent hacking and make game updates easier. The game has been hacked easily and the first update that was meant to release 5th October might release in November instead, it's been delayed 3 times already.
Even after the servers were fixed they managed to fuck up some of the most basic shit. The game is missing a metric shitton of quality of life stuff that was present in Payday 2. They destroyed the progression system by making it entirely based off of challenges such as "Do a stealth heist on this map 15 times", "Do a loud heist on this map 15 times", "Kill 500 snipers", "Get 500 kills with this weapon while it has all attachments equipped". You get 0 xp from actually stealing stuff, all it does is make your amount of money go up, which is mostly useless eventually.
There are only 8 heists and they play the same way each time, no variation unlike Payday 2 heists.
The game lacks features that were in the fucking first game in 2011, the AI is shit and can't even revive each other. Even in 2011 in Payday: The Heist, you gained xp, which was money in the game, by stealing money. This has been the biggest gaming disappointment for me this year and the game has most likely lost a large amount of players that will never return thanks to this disasterful launch.
Here's the steamdb charts, however keep in mind that Payday 3 released on Xbox Gamepass, where alot of people played it (and it saved me from wasting money on it).
