It's also frequently been said, on the occasional times this topic comes up, that this thread IS, for all intents and purposes, Ethan's cow thread. I think @jspit2.0 has been a big proponent of that reasoning.
Pretty much. At this point comicsgate has been coopted wholly by Frog and revolves around him.
If I suggested anything it's overhauling the OP. It currently says about EVS
God-tier artist working for DC Comics (Seriously, search for his art),
I'd change that
A terminally slow professional artist who was fired from Marvel for not drawing fast enough to meet deadlines. DC comics didn't mind and he was allowed to work with Geoff Johns and Dan Didio saying nothing as the company became woke and pandered to SJWs for a decade plus.
he is a practicing Mormon
He is not. He is non-practicing and grew up Mormon.
votes Republican and has conservative views,
He is a Republican, but he is pro alphabet community and used his support of gay marriage to dunk on Renfamous. He's a moderately conservative Trump fag.
though to my knowledge he hasn't publicly supported #Comicsgate,
Just evidence of how outdated the OP is.
though he is friendly with both sides, heavily leaning towards Pro-CG, and is widely criticized by SJWs for his political views. He is also on the record criticizing SJW culture.
This is important. Frog for the period when he was still in the club, rode the fence. I'd instead say...
Van Sciver had, throughout his entire career been an online troll. He would actively post online in the early internet, even at one point telling a fan, in jest to kill himself. None of this would have caused waves, early CG antagonist and human canceraids Mark Waid was equally online and vile. But Van Sciver happened to have the wrong politics. Activists within the comics industry continued to target the artist, which became easier as in addition to his terribly slow pace he chose to work with SJWs like Gail Simone, leading to a series of failures that eliminated the shield he had from his early work with Geoff Johns.
It depends here whether the author wants to go into Melissa Morgue, the guy on the political shitposting thing EVS had where the suicide thing happened. Other various incidents. I think it's more pertinent that Frog is, at his heart, a shit heel when it comes to the internet.
He runs a channel called ComicArtistPro Secrets, in which he streams himself while working on his art, and discusses behind-the-scenes stuff, he is
This is not an accurate description.
Witnessing the early success of Internet YouTubers like Richard C Meyer and Captain Cummings (who he would later refuse to give credit to due to both men being spergs); Van Sciver started ComicartistPro Secrets. The channel spent its formative years making art videos and hosting interviews with creatives. However, once Richard C Meyer crowdfunded Jawbreakers, showing commercial viability outside of comics and Van Sciver 'chose' not to renew his contract with DC Comics, it changed dramatically. Van Sciver ratcheted up his 'culture war' cred. He recruited a number of fellow professionals blacklisted by the mainstream and brought them into a consumer movement they'd never shown real alignment with prior. At the time, he did not make videos going after the industry or fellow pros, instead grifting off of the Star Wars Last Jedi abomination.
This is where we get to the meat.
Forces within CG resented Van Sciver's success as well as the fact he was essentially gatekeeping people he didn't like and throwing elbows. It culminated in the formation of a group of internet wannabe tough guys called Warcampaign. Van Sciver sat back as his War Campaign, hereafter referred to WC, went around, aloging his enemies, threatening them, and generally being a cluster of degeneracy and autistic retardation. Over the course of a couple of years, Van Sciver would insist on absolute loyalty and obedience and when there was ever a slight, real or imagined, he would turn on the 'backstabber'. It didn't help that often the other people in his orbit were more faggy and degenerate than him, making him look better in comparison.
Mention of the lateness
Ironically, the meat of comicsgate, the absolute lack of respect of the customer, shoddy work; became a problem. Van Sciver would always release his comics years late. Any criticism was met with a degree of resentment, with the 'actual motive' disputed.
From here I'd talk about the High Council, briefly, then mention Van Sciver getting mired in drama only to find the Fandom Menace had passed him by. After, I want to say he was high? Anyway on a livestream he insulted a FNT guy and the ring leader, a bottle glass wearing thin skinned ex con basically black listed him. Which cost him access to a lucrative pay piggy center he needed after consistently alienating fans and potential backers left and right over the prior years.
That's how you get to the current period, with him siding against July; who judging from black rappers words on the matter seems did not want to help Van Sciver with the FNT blacklisting.
