2023 Israel-Palestine Armed Conflict

When can I expect to see articles titled "10 Tik Tok Dances to Keep You Gen Z Boys Out of the Draft"?
Soon. They are already going with the whole "uwu they/thems are gonna defeat the baddies!" type deal. I cannot stand how people defend this blatant baiting zogshite when none of those guys get frontline service anyways.

So one of my co-workers has the news going constantly ever since this started and the more I hear these blowhards on Fox News try to gin up Iran this or Iran that, the more I get a horrible sinking sensation that the Republicans learned absolutely nothing from 9/11 and the Iraq War and are trying to drum up support for a war against Iran the way they did for Iraq back in the day.

Has it always been this bad? I'm on X (formerly known as twitter) a lot and both sides just pick up whatever narrative they want and run with it. It doesn't matter whether it's true or not, they're delusional and extremist.

I guess if Jews really do run everything, then we're about to see the pendulum swing quite harshly to the right since the right is so adamant about defending Israel.

I'm still stunned and amazed Shaun King wasn't driven off the internet after he was outed as having completely faked his racial identity. I mean look what happened to Rachel Dolezal she lost her job and now has to do Cameo videos to pay rent. They both did literally the same thing but Shuan is totally fine. No one cares.
Rachel Dolezal is a messed up person but didn't have real ill intentions, she just wanted to belong somewhere. When she was called out she confessed and was ostracized. Shaun King is a legit sociopath who knows he's lying and will never cop to it. He also knows how to grease the palms of important people in the movement so they'll stick up for him no matter how transparent his LARP is.

Anyway, I was looking up some info on JDAMs. Here is Wikipedia's table of their compatible munitions. Note that they range widely in size from under 500 to over 2000 pounds. Here's a picture of some different JDAM kits:
JDAM_family.jpg

It's important to remember that a JDAM is not the bomb itself but the add-on bits that allow it to be guided in an arc toward the target instead of falling straight down. They are the gray metal pieces added onto the bombs in this pic. When people cite "the size of the crater a JDAM makes" they are usually describing the largest warhead that can be used with one, the Mk. 84.

The way that the projectile in the video flew right to its target making the whistling noise suggests strongly that it was some kind of fin-stabilized munition. The fins are what make the noise. It may have not even been a JDAM but some other kind of guided munition with fins. The thing to note is that Israel has the capacity to use such munitions but Hamas AFAIK doesn't and the theory that they caused the explosion at the hospital relies on one of their rockets breaking up in midair and falling to the ground, which wouldn't produce that whistling sound.

JDAM-compatible munitions can detonate in the air as well as when they hit the ground, which will cause much less damage to terrain but throw more shrapnel. Here is a long study of the Mk. 82, one of the lighter compatible bombs. Note that it mentions an airburst model slated for release in 2017. Also in the article: "During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, the laser-guided GBU-12 was reported as striking its targets 88% of the time, with most targets being single vehicles (Blackwelder, 1993)." This bomb was small enough that it was typically used to target single vehicles, not to blow up an entire enemy building.

It seems reasonable that Israel might use such bombs in airburst mode to attack crowds of enemies. They probably wouldn't use super-large bombs because they get ripped anytime there's collateral damage and Hamas likes to hide among civilians. Using an airburst bomb to clear a parking-lot sized area would strike the right balance of crowd control without too much collateral damage. The injuries seen on people in the videos also look a lot more like shrapnel wounds than burns. The appearance of the dead and the blasted parking lot are consistent with what I'd expect if one of the lighter JDAMs was detonated as an airburst. After all, the lighter bombs were used to destroy individual vehicles in Desert Storm.

Still, fog of war is thick and there could be any number of deceptions at play - maybe the videos of bodies were from another place completely, maybe the whistling noise was edited in. This is an attempt at a more educated guess.

I don't think you are alone in that experience somewhat. There have been some rumblings about how bad OSINT is on Twitter/X for either side in the conflict. In my experience the best way to separate the wheat from the chaff or the news from the propaganda is to try to find sources of information that provide video footage, links to things they are talking about and if possible, a proven track-record of not lying.

Thanks for sharing that video. (I haven't had time to read the whole thread since yesterday.)

Is there a consensus yet on what happened?

Why did the 'chain link fence' hospital video have a pronounced Doppler effect in the audio?

How does this fit in with Israel's claim (from cell phone intercepts) that the explosion was a rocket that was fired from the cemetery behind the hospital?

Was it caused by Israeli SAM interception?

Or is this event still unknown?

Sorry for being too lazy to read back all the posts since the last time I saw this thread but I think lots of people will dislike that article from Reason magazine.

Jews, Like Palestinians, Are 'Indigenous' to the Middle East

The Hamas-embraced idea that Jews have no place in Israel fosters extremism on both sides.

JACOB SULLUM | 10.18.2023 12:01 AM

Leftists who openly celebrated the horrifying Hamas attacks in southern Israel argued that the end—the liberation of Palestine "from the river to the sea"—justified the means, including the indiscriminate slaughter of young rave revelers, elderly Holocaust survivors, children, and babies. Although that is a minority position even among harsh critics of Israeli policy, it reflects a more widely endorsed view that Jews, as "settlers" and "colonizers," have no legitimate claim to any of the country's territory and no business living there.

That view, in turn, is based on a simplistic morality tale that pits white European oppressors against "indigenous" people, eliding Israel's demographic roots and the ancient Jewish connection to the land. While this missing context is unlikely to faze people who see mass murder as a noble and heroic act of resistance, it is relevant for anyone who can imagine a less bloody resolution of Palestinian grievances.

In a speech last August, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who supposedly is committed to a peaceful settlement with Israel, asserted that "the Ashkenazi Jews, at least, are not Semites," meaning it is impossible for them to be victims of anti-Semitism. Abbas was invoking a theory positing that the Jews of Europe descended from the Khazars, a Turkic tribe that supposedly converted en masse to Judaism in the ninth century.

Are Muslims so touchy about everything because they never get to sleep in? Like if they changed the pre-dawn prayer to "whenever you get up" that would make me less cranky in that situation. And if the Jews had more active, outdoors, work-with-your-hands jobs they wouldn't be as neurotic and feel like they need to keep needling and needling until someone shoots missles at them. No one wants to get to the core issues of sleep and exercise being as important as they really are. I hope Biden brought that up and then challenged Bibi to a pushup contest.

People don't believe me when I say that the biggest anti-Zionist and pro-Palestinian group is atheist (ain't no fucking way the cucks in yarmulkes are wearing those full time) leftist Jews, but here we are. Just like the biggest BLM supporters are liberal white women, these people are bending over asking for respect from poor, oppressed Muslims when in reality Gazans would shoot them if given the chance.

You're falling right into the JOOOOS’ hands if you are anti-Zionist

Time to start rounding up these violent terrorists a locking them a way for a few years until we decide what to convict them of.. I mean that is the standard set here.

Seriously though. leftist and prog "protesters" are always such insufferable fucking cunts.

I searched for Scott Ritter and didn't see this interview with Garland Nixson posted yet. It's a pretty interesting tactical analysis:

It's a bit long, but Ritter makes a strong case that the reason Hamas committed to such a ferocious attack with large civilian causalities, was that Hamas wants the IDF to send in ground troops. He makes the case they're using rockets and older weapons right now, because they likely have caches of modern missiles. A ground strike would likely result in an ambush, one that would trap the IDF within Gaza and slaughter them.

Furthermore, I though the Iron Dome was some kind of laser/energy weapon. Well from this interview I learned (went to look up articles and verify it) that the dome requires a stockpile of small interceptor missiles! Why keep firing rockets, zero of which make it through? Because the moment they do make it through, it will be because Israel is out of interceptors. They're going to ask America for more, and Ritter claims the US has less than 300 of these in stock. The ramp up time to produce more could be devastating if Hamas has better missiles they're holding back on using.

He makes the argument Biden (really his handlers; Obama or Billary or the CIA or whoever is really in charge) is going to push for a diplomatic solution because our army is literally not ready to fight any wars.

If it's all true, now I really want Israel to commit to their genocide. It'd be insane for them to lose massive chunks of the IDF in a single operation.

Also he talks about how China has officially endorsed Russia militarily within the past few weeks, where the CCP was on the fence before after the Ukraine invasion. None of the Middle Eastern countries respect America at all anymore. They respected Trump, but Biden is so obviously a week, unelected puppet it's laughable.

You'll note in this image from the site of the Hospital explosion something very interesting.

I'd like the guy who did this solid work on the paving to do my driveway. Looks like it can take a beating.
It does look like the blast radius was very small; just those cars and the awning. The building next to it is fine. The pavement behind them is destroyed (not sure if you were implying there was no blast). But it does seem unlikely it killed 500 people.

There is a good chance Hamas is making this strikes and intentionally trying to provoke the IDF to send in a ground force. See my previous post on the Scott Ritter interview; makes me think Hamas is setting up an ambush.
