It seems like at the start of this whole affair, @FROG's ego wouldn't let him steer clear of Eric July and just let Eric do the thing he did that was inevitable, which is become the "big fish" in indie comics overnight on his first book. Nothing EVS did or didn't do was going to matter because Rippa had spent two years pre-hyping this thing and there was an enormous amount of good will and support behind him, so just let it happen. He was sort-of warned, insofar as this thread has skewed towards Rippa-skeptical over time (full disclosure: I have long maintained dat nigger Eric retarded) but EVS would have had to set aside more than a few cherished beliefs about himself and race relations in America in order to successfully manage cultural sensitivities, most likely.

I wanted to bring something else up that someone in this thread brought up and that is EVS's love of all things mafia. I have said it before in IRL but any man that idolizes the mafia is compensating for something. The mafia should be despised, especially by anyone who considers themselves a conservative.
