I think that taking a shower and good fashion sense are two different things. I was thinking about how Anisa would shit talk about how his room was a mess and how much it stunk.

I've cooked up this theory that Ian has always been a dirty slob, maybe due to upbringing, but was trying to keep appearances for the camera. It's clear he's somewhat ashamed of his upbringing (or at least ashamed of his dad). Then Anisa came in and bizarrely tries to convince him to go back to that "aesthetic". Maybe she doesn't see him as "manly" enough and thinks that's the solution, or maybe she thinks she should "be himself". The only way I can see someone describe their husband's appearance as "white trash, unkept or untucked, simple" in a public podcast and not be outright evil is if they somehow like it. And I mean, she's just as greasy and trashy-looking, so she has to have some tolerance to it at the very least.
