Couldn't even find something remotely sharp for decapitating infidels, they're not sending their best.

I think they've been taking lessons from the cartels and decided that they too should deliberately use objects with blunt edges for executions to drag them out as much as possible.

They used a blunt knife in the Nick Berg decapitation, which is what started the "gore videos as propaganda" trend (and inspired the cartels later). The Daniel Pearl one was earlier, but it looked like he was already dead when they chopped his head off, and it takes more than one example to establish a trend.
