I do not think relying on the moral correctness of what the RAF called 'Terror Bombing' as justification for airstrikes is the best long term tac for the Israeli right wing, especially because the general venn diagram overlap of the 'dresden deserved it' and the 'settlers had it coming' in gentile is damn near a circle, with some conservatives on the dresden side.

All that said, I'm going to go out on a limb and say I bet the thread will reach 1k discussion pages before the ground incursion occurs.

I understand moral objections to turning cities to dust but I don't get people claiming it wasn't effective. Strategic bombing forced the German industry to disperse and by 1945 it was really rough to get material from the factory to the front before it got destroyed. In the last month or two of the war there wasn't really much point to it anymore since making the rubble bounce while maybe being satisfying to some doesn't have much military impact

It also tied up tens of thousands of men and thousand of barrels to shoot at the sky when they could have instead been put on the front to shoot at allied combat troops pushing through Europe. Fighter units had to be pulled from the front to defend the Reich as well.

This just seems like a stupid move on Israel's part. They're tacitly admitting "we might bomb a lot of civilians" and trying to justify it in advance by saying they'll assume they're terrorists and kill them if they don't move south. And there's no guarantee of safety even if they do abandon their homes and lives to move south.
