I dont know much about him but the Northern Army in general behaved in far less a civilized manner than the Southern one . The Southerners raided, the Northernes burned down everything and probably would have salted the earth if they had time.
I have a memory of a story that went something like this:
Two places. One delivered food to his army and he spared it, the other one didn't and he burned it down saying that there lived traitors.
But regardless of the veracity of that, he burned down a lot.

Funny you mentioned this, I actually got accused of promoting genocide by someone I have known for years because of something I said recently. But I can seriously distinguish between civilian locals and the terrorists who are the actual problem.

This shit is much worse than those retards who tie bacon to mosque door handles because of 9/11 or whatever. You don't have to agree with their religion but come on.

The reason it's taking so long to launch any operation seems to be because the IDF is not used to this type of combat, at least not on the scale at which they want to launch the operation. My friend is currently on the base in Haifa and has been saying that the last couple of weeks have been focused on moblization and drills. Remember that a conscript army is not a standing force, so they need to bring everyone back to speed and teach them how to engage in urban warfare.

Anyway, he's going back to his family after Shabbat, so I wouldn't be expecting anything now. At least not a massive operation. He says they're still preparing.

Didn't mention anything like that, just that it was hard to get what just a couple of weeks ago were civilians to remember their training and they also had to familiarize everyone with new tactics and put in new NCOs. The IDF hasn't had mobilized to this degree since 1973.

It's important to understand that in Middle Eastern cultures, "right" and "just" means "what's good for our people." The Torah tells Jews to act in their self-interest and says that's the ultimate good. Therefore following the Torah and killing your enemies down to the child is right. Neat circular logic. I don't really think it's wise to speculate. He may be going home but it's only for a day. He still doesn't even know if he's going to the Lebanese border or Gaza. Everything is being kept silent for now. He's not an officer, so he's not in the know about specific timetables.
