What this image fails to mention is the cost of living in all those countries, as a resident of the UK I can say with certainty that we are nowhere near as wealthy as that chart would make it seem. It's easy to pump up the average wage when everyone who isn't doing some kind of managerial busywork or working 60hr weeks in a warehouse is on the dole and has been for years.

Was just about to post something like this. Unless they're going up against swords or something, that chainmail isn't going to do much.

The usual blunt impact and stabbing shennanigans of your average riot will go right past that shit.

Eh. Decently made mail does protect very well against knives and kind of well against sword thrusts. Ie, alternating punched and riveted rings where the rivets are folded into the steel in the medieval way. There’s a reason mail was the state of the art for a millennium. Chances are this mail is just butted, which doesn’t really work even against just knifes. Maybe it’s welded/soldered, in which case it would work great, but the rings look much too large for that to be the case, welded/soldered usually uses tiny rings.

More damning is how clean it is. Proper mail is made from spring steel and would rust instantly unless it’s kept well oiled. This is definitely stainless, in which case even I could use all of my nonexistent strength and just tear it apart with my bare hands.

Is stuff like the inflation calculation as bullshit in the EU/UK as it is in the US? Let's exclude rent, medical, and groceries and voila! That Biden guy truly is building back better. Not from the guys in the trenches (my friends usually send an update every couple of weeks), nor in the official media (they are celebrating the capture of an intact HIMARS missile today, which says nothing about the state of the front line), nor in the Telegram channels that I frequent (I only read the ones that publish a summary after the outcome becomes clear).

I have no idea how the Russian MOD managed to plug the deluge of footage that was coming over the last year, but apparently they did it. Or am I looking at the wrong sources?

This is happening because the Ukrainian Parliament voted to ban Orthodox Church over alleged links with Russia. They gave their initial approval on Thursday, 19 October 2023 to pass a law that would ban the Moscow-linked Ukrainian Orthodox Church after Kiev accused it of collaborating with Russia after the war began. I wonder what Mykola at the front would think about what his babushka is going through.

Yeh, I noticed too, even some correspondents I keep up with who are embedded with frontline units have been very quiet and cagey with updates other than "we are moving forward". Seems like the MoD told everyone to keep the blabbing to a minimum.

This October elections gave the opposition parties in Poland a significant foothold and it might be the beggining of the end for the Law & Justice party (which IMO ought to be called Lech & Jarosław for accuracy).

In other news, the Polish Kindergeld equivalent is going up by 63% in 2024. Price of everything, even gutter beer, is going up without exception. My rent went up three times this year.

I mean well, compared to Russia, Germany is doing pretty well. The Financial sector is growing. Not to mention massive investments from other countries which help the country grow.

What a useless fucking map, the cost of food shelter and energy is far lower in Russia than it is in Germany, France or UK. Natural Gas is borderline free and this is a massive reduction in expenditure that the people in UK have to eat shit on as part of monthly expenses during the winter. The only metric this average wage per month is useful for is imported goods, unless you're buying a video card or some shit this isn't exactly a big deal because Russia tends to produce a lot of its own goods internally since these wages are so low that its cost effective to have manufacturing.

Doesn't surprise me, I've seen people try to pass off airsoft game footage from GoPro helmet cams as "combat in Ukraine" with a little touch of sound and video editing.

Even more hilarious when they manage to get people to donate actual money to the "cause."
