Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

Frank really should have kept the shorter haircut from when he was a kid.

Pokemon is like the best example of an easy to learn - tough to master game, and the story part of the game doesn't even really get into the meat & potatoes of battling.

(Also real trainers put time and effort into training a Butterfree w/ confusion to wreck Brock )

Heck from GSC onwards every Gym has a guy who will tell you exactly what type of Pokemon they favour, and their weaknesses. I believe also Sun and Moon will now have a "LOOK NUMBNUTS PICK THIS ONE" signal when you have a Pokemon strong against current opponents too.

I have never, not even once, felt that Gamergate was about hating women. It literally has nothing to do with gender, John.

John just knew he could jump on it and get some mileage, like that motorcycle he blew all those Patreon bucks on, with just as much legitimacy.

It doesn't matter WHAT you grind at pokemon. Being over leveled is the best way too be sure you won't lose, since there's no level scaling.
I wish one of these people would tell me how the hell an opposing viewpoint is difficult. Where does the difficulty come in? You hear it, you either think about it or you ignore it. Neither one is difficult. Now if the word was upsetting I could at least give them that hearing opposing ideas may be upsetting but I still think it's stupid.
Cognitive dissonance. It's very uncomfortable.

Beyond that NPC, the routes around a town with a gym almost always have Pokemon you can catch that are effective at fighting the gym. You know, because Pokemon is very well designed game that encourages its main themes.

Speaking of game design, let's talk about music in a game. When I watched the stream Brianna did awhile back, one of the things that stuck out to me among all the other blunders was how badly the music for Rev60 is handled. Whatever is playing at any time doesn't feel "right" for the scene it's in and it doesn't do anything to enhance the mood. Final Fantasy battle music is frantic to get you pumped for the fight or, to use a Pokemon example, the Lavender Town theme is eerie and haunting due to the graveyard there. What am I supposed to feel when that one song Wu is so proud of plays? A better use of Brianna's time would have been to scour the royalty-free music sites to find something that could have worked for the game better. Then again, that's more work than checking lighting boxes in Unreal.

People are probably tired of hearing about it, but I go right back to Undertale when it comes to music. Every track is crafted to give you a certain emotion, with the Undyne fight being probably the best example-both tracks have a certain emotion to them depending on the context. The Pacifist theme, Spear of Justice, sounds like the theme for a hot-blooded anime hero which is exactly what Undyne is. But the Genocide track, Battle Against a True Hero, is like the end-of-season final battle against the supervillain threatening to destroy the world. It gets you pumped for what's possibly the first difficult battle that Genocide actually presents. Wu's never going to make a track as memorable as Battle Against a True Hero, Megalovania, Bonetrousle, fuck, even that 30 second intro bit to Asgore's boss fight (Bergentrucking, "King in the Mountain") is beyond her because Wu is such a sociopath she doesn't understand how to use music to manipulate a person's emotions.

Also back on Pokemon topic, fucking hell Wu, it's not like you're playing the ROM Hacks people make where the difficulty is cranked up to infuriating. Type advantages don't help much when your opponents are coded to have perfect stats :P

Welp, now we have some idea as to why in the hell Brianna and Chloe Sagal would be messaging each other in the first place.

Well, more proof the clique was regretting letting her in the cool kids club.
You have no idea. I've got another shot I'm working on getting right now.

EDIT: And here's that conversation continued

Lessons from this - Katherine Cross was disappoint, Ian is a prophet, and David Gallant is still clueless.

I've been reading the Cross bits in Keith David's voice. It has been very satisfying.

Also, that Rob guy. wow. "I know about using powerful positions. In my WoW guild.."

Oh, Rob. Don't you know that Brianna is totes a natural woman? Also, anyone care to check Brianna's tweets around this time to see what Katherine was trying to get Brianna to shut up about?

EDIT: Katherine Cross provides a little more insight (sorry for format change; had to copy/paste to Word to get it to fit)
