I remember Uncle Kage showing up to Antheria both timesto try and get more people to show up, as a show of support for 2. Unfortunately, something must have happened to make the convention fail so hard that not only did 2 not come back for 2012, but he even just didn't acknowledge its failure. The website went black for a while.
I believe that 2 and Kage were attempting to take over the west coast con scene. It was at the zenith of the East Coast-West Coast war of Furry. Which started with a perceived slight at Kage by FC waaaay back in the day. Kage certainly was pulling all the strings to make it a success: They had all the heavy hitter GoHes AC ever had, from Stan Sakai on down. And then they couldn't make room block so they shoved it in a terrible Best Western where they were double booked with the wedding of one of Shaka Khan's backup dancers.
When they shot Shrewpac it was obvious things had gone too far.
That seems mildly far fetched that it's just the furries that cause that problem. Having said that, one of my times on the Google campus I saw a brony shirt about 30 seconds in.
