Doesn't Japan have a partially darker skinned population in the descendants of the Ainu? Or what about the Okinawans? I thought I saw a Haruhi rip off that was "black" a few years ago who was from Okinawa?

Saying shit like this is so retarded.

Then we get the current ProZD stuff. These people are malformed dysgenic California riddled faggots of the highest degree.
People in the ryukyu region do tend to be darker skinned, yea. The sun is fucking brutal down there.

Yoruichi was literally based off of Okinawans, she’s meant to be South Asian. People who insist she’s black love citing one of the anime endings where she’s shown sporting an afro as proof. Unfortunately for them, the afro is revealed to be a wig in an omake, so they are either blissfully unaware of this detail or choose to ignore it.

Also, a side-by-side comparison with an actual black woman from Bleach:

If you really wanted to play devil’s advocate you could claim Yoruichi is mixed, but still, I doubt Kubo was trying to be that inclusive.

My understanding is in anime (but with Bleach especially since this is relevant), you would know instantly when a character is a foreigner and a native Japanese no matter the color of the skin. The normies need to get that explicit mention, but you can just look at someone and just know:

Kaname was originally voiced by a white man, but David Rasner hasn't done anything in a long time, so that's why nobody cares a literal who black man was then cast as him in TYBW. Even so, Kaname is a Shinigami just like Yoruichi, ethnicity was never once explicitly stated. It's just been hinted at with him through looks alone compared to Yoruichi, and even then, it literally doesn't matter.

Modern anime watchers are real fucking dumb.

They will ALWAYS willfully ignore information that prove them wrong. It's how you get nigger jews and we wuz kangs.

Or how they all be like "Piccolo from DBZ is totally a black man" like a bald green man from another world is supposed to represent them. Or that could be a self admission that they think of themselves as foreign invading aliens that think of themselves as demons.

Honestly, I mean have these folks never seen an Indian before? Isn’t Anjali Kunapaneni an Indian-descended voice actress? There are a bunch of Indians that have darker skin than black Americans. Using their logic, people can easily claim that Yoruichi is an Indian woman that happens to have a Japanese name.

This is why I have a bit of disdain for the word “black” because that word, in terms of race, has been used to describe Africans and descendants of Africans, but other groups of people just as dark at them, if not darker, don’t get called “black” for some reason. Even albino Africans can be called black, but not Indians?

Rasner privately retired, much like Dave Mallow. Michael McConnohie is basically semi-retired, and we all know the situation with Vic. Replacing them is not surprising.

Funnily enough, Rasner has voiced more black characters than Kaname, if you look at his work in Blood+.

A thread I was watching, ISWV community thread, was sent to spergatory. Does anyone here keep up with the exploits of speds like MisterAnime and Spirit Jr? Can I find that here now?

Lol Starman fag there is clearly still pissed 4KIDS willingly gave up their rights to the Pokémon license. How does he know Veronica Taylor would hold his own similar views compared to Sarah?

Yes, Sarah is on record snapping back at fan criticism over not being Veronica and she's had her moments of smugness, but that's literally nothing compared to Jessie's current dub VA whiteknighting for her gay pedophile roommate.

Studiopolis recently talked about the situation

"We would like to address the unfortunate circumstances that led to the casting error around the character "Yoruichi Shihoin" in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War episode #22. It was always Studiopolis' intent to keep as many of the established cast members as possible from the original Bleach anime.
There was a misunderstanding that "Yoruichi Shihoin" was part of the list of the original cast members who were unavailable to participate in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. In error, our casting coordinator offered Anairis Quiñones the role. By the time this error came to our attention, it was too late to correct before episode 22 was released. We would like to take this opportunity to apologize once again, and express how much we appreciate their talents, and enjoy working with Anairis and Wendee who will both continue to add their voice work to Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War with Wendee as "Yoruichi Shihoin" and Anairis as "Hiyori Sarugaki.""

This is either the truth, or someone actually purposefully tried to recast Yoruichi because "She's black, Wendee's not" and some higher-up at Viz caught on, or Wendee herself asked some real interesting questions when she found out.

The whole thing is just real weird.

If they did it behind Wendee's back, you'd think she would've known before episode 20 or whatever they got up to, and made a big stink then.

If the dubbing company tried to make the excuse that Wendee was unavailable, that's easily disprovable bullshit since she already returned to voice 2 side characters, Tatsuki and Menoly.

The obvious answer is that they wanted a black woman to voice the dark skinned Japanese ghost person, it's just that the timeline is so bizarre.

I love this statement. They take absolutely no responsibility and seemingly are going to keep Lee. I know it's great because several smaller weeb wars cows are having conniptions for the studio not castrating themselves. Hilarious stuff.
