Inactive Andrew Dobson / Tom Preston / CattyN - STOP DOING SEXIST CRAP

It's pretty amusing how off-topic this thread has become. Shows how much boring Blobson has become.
It has. Dobson's failed to even be a consistent lolcow. That's pathetic for someone of his notoriety.

Why can't people just do the simple spectacles like Scrooge McDuck?

Sure, logically they wouldn't sit in place, nor be very useful, but they're a lot less distracting without the wings--and generally they're accepted as proper glasses in the realm of cartoons.
Because Dobson has no sense of style. It's why he's got those ugly, overly-detailed facial expressions in his comics.

It's true, he's become rather dull since he stopped doing art. He got rid of the art criticism by doing so, but only at the expense of his only quasi-redeeming feature. Like a bear gnawing off its own leg to escape a trap. Only in this case, the bear is exceptional, and gnawed off its own leg because it stepped in bubblegum instead.

Dobby is so mind-numbingly boring we don't even talk about him in the thread dedicated to laughing at him.

Well good news, then.

Is he going to draw something or is it another desperate plea for attention? Most likely the latter but one can be optimistic.
And if he does draw, it'll be like his Inktober thing all over. Stuff that comes out fairly good that upsets him when people compliment him on them.

I really hope he either gets his shit together or never wins in life. I am leaning more to the latter of those options the more of his work and personal journals I trudge through, however. What a character he is.

I'll have to say, I read through Alex ze Pirate the other day for the first time (I mean, I've seen various panels and individual comics posted, but I never actually went and read the comics on the webpage as one would with Oglaf or Doonesbury or whatever) and I came away with a really underwhelming sense of "This is the golden standard that you miserably wish to could get back to..?"

I admit I got a little Schadenfreude out of seeing him resort to shitty manga expressions and tropes given how negatively he denounced it all, but that's a meta-level reading of the comic; just imagining it as someone who's not knowledgeable about his history won't be getting that sense out of it. Everyone else has covered the comic's various problems with projecting his misandry and the unlikeable characters well enough that I won't re-tread that ground, but even the writing is .. I was going to say something clever but it's just stupid and lame. It's fucked. It's shitty. It's shitty, fucked writing.

Like, the Wish Fish one, has a fish that grants 3 wishes. It all starts fine, but Lesbian Kick shows up and says something like "I wish Alex and I were together!" and a supernatural force slams them together, physically, and they're stuck like glue. Alex doesn't like this so either Doormat or Alex has to use a wish to separate them, and the very next thing that happens, immediately, is Lesbian Kick makes **exactly the same wish again**. And then they have to burn another wish to physically separate them, again.

I suspect the reason for that chain of events was because Dobson wanted to get to "only one wish left, how will we use it wisely?" bit, but making Lesbian Kick use the same wish twice either paints her as monumentally stupid ("I know this is about to be reversed, but wasting wishes is fun!") or sociopathically callous / creepily horny ("Alex hates this, but I like it, so here we go!"). I probably would have gotten that vibe from her anyway (I get the sense Dobson wants her gropey sexual harrassing stuff to come off as wacky or cute or something, but it's not working), but the same plot could have avoided this level of problem just with just another way of wasting a wish. Maybe the tried-and-tested joke about how using the everyday phrase "I wish so-and-so" got interpreted literally by the Wish Fish, etc. I don't know, this isn't my train wreck.

So, disregarding the Inktober stuff which we've already covered as "fine", what else has he done that's actually good? Or was Alex ze Pirate literally his best work?

Alex gets even worse when you actually do what I did and try to research the earliest incarnation of it, known as "Legends".
Let me just say the following: At the beginning of Legends life as a fictional character, she was already known for being an incompetent brat who got at least five previous crews killed.
Our "hero" everyone.

And off topic, if Dobson really believes his comic promotes "friendship and comradeship" I like to quote the following saying: With friends like this, who needs enemies?

the animation are fucking weird. Saw some of them a couple of years ago, and they were just weird. Like, 70s Sweden weird.

Still, they have better animation than anything that Dobson has ever did.
Bamse confirmed too triggering for Dobson.
I'll go with "Lesbians".

AzP is literally nothing more than the cast of Ranma in the setting of One Piece.
In that regard, Lesbiankick corresponds to Shampoo, who was a bit too touchy-feely and clingy with female Ranma. That's literally it.

Dobson made a bunch of works.
There's one about a young detective, but it's just an awkward Detective Conan ripoff without any of the charm, wits or suspension.
There's AzP, which was commented on above.
Marsoopugarfield and Not-Jon-Arbuckle Wii trolls comics...
These three works are incredibly derivative.
Then, there's the godawful "Patty" comic about two lesbians falling in love in school for no apparent reason than the plot demanding it.

It might be his most creative work was Formera, something that can't be read anywhere as far as I can tell, which dealt with some guy being thrown into some weird fantasy world. While that idea isn't particularly new, it's not like Dobson was copypasting it in full swing à la AzP or Not-Conan.
Let me just say the following: At the beginning of Legends life as a fictional character, she was already known for being an incompetent brat who got at least five previous crews killed.

There's at least one more (namely the one with the elf in mordern times, meant as a newspaper comic), but these went nowhere afaik.
Our "hero" everyone.
The saddest part is that Dobson most likely assumes that makes her somewhat endearing or funny or something. "Oh look at that Alex, wasting the lives of 5 crews! She's such a rapscallion!"

Feel the Payne!
Can Dobson even be considered an enabler? I mean realistically, he fails at starting a flame war directly just as much as he fails at being an SJW.

At this point, he's the guy you just stare at and go "Yeah, sure." before going somewhere else.
