Typically to get graphs like that, the study will specifically exclude shootings by gangs. Also they will include Middle Easterners as white. You need to read the full studies, not just look at the pretty graphs. The graphs are good for drawing in your attention. But you need to follow it up with reading the parameters, inclusions and exclusions.

I don't get why the country isn't more proactive about pushing toward mental health, yet reasons exist that are unknown to me until they are dragged out into the sunlight.

Because we cannot afford it. Psychiatrists are very expensive. And to make any amount of progress with a patient requires a lot of time over a long period of time.

The percentages of mental health issues vary, but this one states 22.5% of adults in the US had mental health issues in 2021. I've seen other stats claiming 30%.

A few considerations. He may have been hearing more than normal with the new hearing aids. Someone mentioned that many people in town knew to stay away from him. Maybe there were some that were talking smack about him that he was suddenly now hearing. Or he was catching words here or there. He looks around strange at them. Now they are looking back at him, and now ARE talking about his strange behavior. A self feeding cycle.

People were capable of owning machine guns easily before that commie Reagan put his Alzheimer's ridden hands into things, yet the largest mass shooting in that time period was done in San Ysidro by a guy with a 9mm semi-auto Uzi and a Winchester shotgun. Cho managed to get his high score at the time with a couple of pistols. A Muslim with a truck managed to kill more people than Stephen Paddock was able to kill with full auto AR-15s.
