Culture BBC official told staff to accuse Israel of 'ethnic cleansing' - leaked email - lmao: The Times reported that some BBC correspondents had been crying in the toilet over the BBC's refusal to use the aforementioned language

An email that was leaked showed a BBC correspondent encouraging staff to use terms like "settler-colonialism" and "ethnic cleansing," according to media reports.

The email had allegedly been sent to international staff, according to the Jewish Chronicle. One such staff member included Director General Tim Davie, whom he emailed with the complaint that "Words like ‘massacre’, ‘slaughter’ and ‘atrocities’ are being used – prominently – in reference to actions by Hamas, but hardly, if at all, in reference to actions by Israel."

The Times reported that some BBC correspondents had been crying in the toilet over the BBC's refusal to use the aforementioned language.

The letter sent across the BBC

"The power of emotive coverage and repetition is well understood. The selective application of emotive repetition is sure to have an impact on audiences, and it is exactly the kind of impact Israeli propagandists are aiming for as they dehumanize Palestinians and set the stage for the mass murder they have pledged - and begun - to carry out," wrote the correspondent.

"There is a lot more to be said, but these are the broad headlines. This is not about mistakes here and there, or even about systemic bias in favour of Israel. The question now is a question of complicity. It is a matter of public interest to rectify this with the utmost urgency.

“The BBC has taken upon itself in recent years the task of fighting fake news, disinformation, hate speech and such things, a trend in western media,” he said. “Where is the content analysing the flood of incitement against Palestinians and tracking its impact?"

Funny that. The BBC can be as biased as it likes against anyone else, but if they dare make Israel look bad that's when it's a problem.

Just like this "discussion" about Islamic immigration we're having now- before this nobody could say a thing against it, but when Israel feels threatened it's muzzie-bashing time again.

Not certain if you're aware but the BBC have been very particular about refusing to call Hamas terrorists. Last time I listened their work around was referring to them as a group some Western countries refer to as terrorists.
They're actually taking a bit of bashing for not calling them terrorists.

I'm not even going to click those links to figure out which side of that language battle is crying in the toilet (it certainly sounds like kebab roasters based on the structure), just the image of grown ass adults bawling in the toilet stall where anyone can hear them because they aren't being allowed to call a country genocidal maniacs is massacring my sides. :story:

The BBC isn't the only one. I heard then CBC in Canada and the French tv networks of France also do the same.

Unsurprising. But honestly given that the BBC did hire a Palestinian reporter (since fired)whose social media included moments when they essentially called for more Hitler please that people are crying they're not supporting Hamas enough is hilarious.

If we can't call them terrorists? How about Middle East cartel as a nod to the Mexican cartels?

This is what happens when you let pro terrorists, ideologues and emotional/mental children into the normal adult world. And refuse to actively fight back or call out overt calls to turn the press into political advocacy shills.

Good luck trying to get these insane elements to shut up. Even if they get to the point of being disruptive, they will run to social media to SCREEEECH and REEEEEEE if you do or say anything to try and shut them up. The price once again of favoring voices based on how extreme they are on the "correct" opinions. As well as failing to deal with out of control higher edu.

What? You have a problem with journalists trying to speak truth to power finally?

Israel has committed multiple atrocities in the region and they are running an apartheid state. And they've killed a ton of Gazan civilians since 10/07. I see nothing wrong with the BBC takes here.

Which one had 40 decapitated dead babies again?
That's as many as four tens.

Such is the dilemma of the public broadcaster mandated to be impartial, many such cases. The Left will say "the BBC is too right-leaning!" whilst the Right will say the opposite.
