I'm pretty sure I've read about marketing being predominantly aimed at women because they make the majority of purchasing decisions. Even for single men a lot of the pressure is "present yourself like this if you want to have sex" so even indirectly it's women making those decisions.

Might have to do a bit of casual research and check if this is still true.
