I hear this a lot - Chantal is the same way - and it always comes off as a cope to me. If the argument is that Phil has problems, well no shit. That's every lifestyle and profession, no matter how comfortable it might be. The King of England probably has all sorts of things in his life that make him unhappy or he wishes he didn't have to deal with. That doesn't mean most people wouldn't happily trade all of their problems for all of his.

It's frustrating to see Phil get handed everything on a silver platter. "He's unhappy and lives a hermit's life" I hear you say. Okay but he still sits in front of a video game playing it badly and gets paid thousands of dollars a month for this. YMMV, but Phil being miserable isn't much solace IMO. I personally don't let it bother me too much - because there's no excuse for getting mad about Phil - but it's still annoying to see this lazy piece of shit coast though life without suffering any real hardships.
Yeah, while looking from the outside in Dave's life is objectively terrible, from his perspective it's pretty great. He sits on his ass all day and gets everything he wants(door dash, WWE champions, goyslop tv, booze, etc), that's all he ever wanted. Like Dave talks about traveling or doing stuff but even when he had tons of cash he never did any of that, he just sat on his ass, drank, and bought consoomer garbage statues.

The only real consolation I see is that age is rapidly catching up with Dave. Future medical emergencies aside, he has no savings of any kind so he's basically fucked in the future if he doesn't die of a heart attack on stream.

I admit to cry while playing vidya at times but it is usually something that has been building up during the game's story over multiple hours of gameplay.
Him switching/getting triggered by something random like a throwaway side character in a Marvel game out of the blue and then evoking such an emotional response makes me think it has nothing to do with the game but with something nagging at him behind the scenes.

Maybe there reallly is trouble in the marriage arrangement with Fat Khet.
Or maybe we are on the brink of the real "depressionsyde Phil" arc instead of him using it as a shield to be a toxic asshole.
Wouldn't that be some poetic justice?

EDIT:
To add to that, his overspending on Champions in the last weeks could also be some kind of coping mechanism to get his mind off whatever is biting at him.

I only half agree - just because he gets everything he wants for low effort doesn't mean he's happy or even content with his lot in life. He openly admits to being jealous of more successful streamers, he clearly hates games now, and I suspect deep down he even regrets marrying Kat. The whole weird ecosystem Phil has built around himself is there to protect him from those unwelcome thoughts, not because doordash + gacha is truly all he wants out of life.

Edit to add: In short the only way to enjoy being in DSP's position is to be there without the serious, unresolved psych issues.

I think if Dave's dissatisfied with anything it's just that his lifestyle doesn't come as easy to him as it used to. Like I said, he never really aspired to do anything more than sit on his ass and never did anything when he was making tons of cash. I guess he came close with the FGC, though he didn't give that another shot when he was making money. He wants to return to the glory days when he could play video games poorly a couple hours a day, get a fat paycheck from machinima, and not even have to put on a stupid vest.

I don't know if he's ever really even like most of the games he's played. He puts zero effort into learning anything about the games he plays and the only reason we don't get clips of Dave completely failing at most games is the chat handholds him through everything now.

I think he's also aware of just how few fans and whales he has left, as shown by how laughably inflated the members are. When he sees "anon" or "Emil" saving the stream again he will know full well who it is.

1MM conspiracy thought: Phil went on about how 1MM didn't give positive support yesterday because there was no day stream, and he doesn't know who he is (X). However, 1MM increased the daily tithe on Friday up to $50 from $20 to ensure Phil gets his money.

This reinforces my believe that Planet Jeff Anderson pays his tithe from his Dead Wife's rainy day fund out monthly to Phil and he spreads it out accordingly.

Thus, did Phil know then he was taking off the day stream Sunday?

That, and the fact that Phil claimed to not have any info on 1MM. But one year ago:

Everything shit in Phil's life is entirely by his own doing, though.

Yes, the prospect of being paid thousands of dollars for being a piece of shit on broadcast media sounds good, but that's just the simplistic description. A while back I compared Phil to being the stereotypical monkey dancing in front of a music box panhandling for coins, and it still rings true.

Every single day, Phil has to haul himself out in front of the camera to do something he absolutely despises - play video games - in front of a crowd of almost exclusively detractors or, more importantly, legitimately stupid people who dump government bux on him. Zero crowd interaction skills and it somehow keeps going below that every time. It's a daily regimen of effective torture to milk money.

And what does Phil do with all this money that people wish they could have? All he does is sit on his ass playing a bejeweled knock off to collect sweaty men jpgs, pressing one or two buttons, or ordering out since I don't know if he even cooks his shitty recipes anymore. Sometimes he might have to drive out into public to get stuff. Or getting blackout drunk on gin.

Phil isn't simply miserable, he's miserable despite literally having so many golden opportunities out of choice. Sure, he may not have any real hardships, imaginary or otherwise, but he desperately wants other people to think he's happy and not the pathetic loser he obviously is. The fancy house, the car, the 'trophy' wife, etc. it's all stuff Phil really doesn't care about (besides the gated community keeping people out, at least). This gout-ridden lardass could easily move into a shitty trailer and maintain the exact same quality of living if he wasn't paranoid about other people, while still having thousands of dollars to burn on WWE Champs. His life could be so much better with a few simple changes to his lifestyle, but his addictions and paranoia, not to mention egotism and just generally being a fucking asshole with entitlement issues, mean he's locked himself in a gilded cage while loudly denying he's anything other than perfectly happy.

Phil is truly his own worst enemy and he has to live with him every waking second.

I just want something to happen to wipe the smug "I know everything better than everyone else" attitude away so we can see some legitimate fear in him.
I was thinking it would be funny to see him have a "deer in the headlights" expression but I just realized how his face doesn't convey anything and now even less since he has facial droop.

The most emotion I've ever seen on his face was when he realized the camera was on, even when he was crying it was all the same but with tears.

Normal person: "Hey everyone, so I am pretty sick so I am going to take it easy for a few days, rest up and will hopefully be back soon. I will update you all tomorrow with how I Am feeling. Thanks!"

Phil: "I am sick. Give me money."

Too bad he doesn't have some pleb level 9-5 job where you get paid time off.

Yeah this is crazy. but also goes to show how shaky his supposed most secure job he ever had really is. Perhaps it will dawn on him that his selfemployment was just a fancy version of the beggar on the street shaking his tin can. Any bets he won't put the tips he recieves until his late stream on the leaderboard?

Let's play Pigroach' advocate for a minute and assume that he is indeed too sick to stream.
Wasn't the plan for his Halloween begathon that he will
1. wear a costume
2. take shots for 100$
3. Feasting with the Pig
4. stream a marathon (aka. 6 hours of gameplay instead of the usual 5)

If he really is sick (to that extent), there is no way that any one of these tasks will be achievable.

How is he planning on doing a marathon if he isn't even able to play more than 2 hours and/or isn't able to speak for long periods?
