Here's a theory.

If this was directed at Israel, this would be needless bluster. Israel and Egypt are not going to war over Gaza.

This talk isn't directed at Israel. It's directed at the Gazans. Egypt does not want two million violent Palestinians in Egypt. They've used poison gas and intentionally flooded tunnels going into Egypt. They've kept the border closed to Gazans.

The Egyptians are signaling to the Gazans that any attempt to storm Egypt to escape Israel will get them gunned down. Honestly, Israel can't just slaughter Palestinians en masse no matter how badly they want to. Egypt? Nobody gives two shits if Egypt slaughters the Palestinians. It'll just be seen as standard Arab barbarism.

Both myself and others have posted about this before in this thread but Palestinians are genuinely despised by many Arabs in the region for behaving like absolute subhumans when they fled to the various neighbouring states after the First Arab-Israeli War in 1948. And out of all of them, it's probably the Egyptians that hate them the most, followed closely by Kuwaitis, Jordanians, and non-Hezbollah supporting Lebanese.

And just to give an idea of how far the Egyptian government has gone in order to not have to deal with the Gazans in particular, after Hamas took over in 2007 they: completely closed the border, razed an entire city on their side of it and displaced over 70,000 people in order to create an empty buffer zone, literally gassed smuggling tunnels underneath the border (with Palestinians still in them), and finally built a giant fucking wall that'd make Trump jealous.

You can absolutely bet that any Palestinians that try to beeline over the border into Egypt without express permission from the military are going to get gunned down, Hamas fighters, women, children, doesn't matter they really aren't going to care. Especially as the last time they had a border breach in 2008, hundreds of thousands of Gazans invaded Egypt, causing a local food crisis, almost caused the economy to collapse, and contributed to an insurgency in the Sinai that still continues to this day. They're absolutely never letting anything like that happen again.

I think a lot of the Israel support is from 1. Jewish people and non Jews who really see the potential of a second Holocaust scenario being reality seeing the pro Palestine crowd and 2. folks that aren't Jewish but who saw the initial onslaught and felt sick that anybody could support the people behind such acts, let alone cheer them on and hope they go further in what they did.
