I don’t think there’s any question that the remaining gazans are by and large already radicalized and will undoubtedly continue the cycle of radicalizing their children, and that anti Jew terror attacks will not cease even if they get rid of all of Hamas and find them new leadership.Even if Israel was able to kill 80% of Hamas fighter and 100% of it's equipment/ infrastructure, what's to say that in 15 to 20 years this generation of Palestinian youths don't become the next Hamas terrorists? Hamas has proved resourceful enough to even make rockets from water pipes and common pharmaceutical chemicals notwithstanding the smuggling.
So how is Israel not creating the terrorist of tomorrow with the actions of today?
Jews are literally the boogeyman to these people. Their childrens’ shows and cartoons show Jews as the evil villains so all children will associate “Jew” with “evil” by the time they’re toddlers. Their childrens’ version of our “Cowboys And Indians” game is called “Stab The Jew”, which goes exactly the way it sounds. I recently watched an interesting video of Israelis and Palestinians sitting down to listen to one anothers’ experiences and one Palestinian talked about how when he was a child his mother would make him go to sleep on time by saying that if he wasn’t in bed, a Jew would come to kill him. They have literally been taught their entire lives that jews are evil subhuman monsters and their purpose is to kill those monsters even if it means sacrificing the lives of themselves and their families in order to do so.
We can debate whether the Jew hatred is earned or deserved, but it doesn’t matter. The fact is it’s there and not going away any time soon. It would take generations upon generations to breed out the intense Jew hatred they’ve all been groomed into harboring. And it will only be bred out or forgotten after a substantial period of peace and stability and positive regional relations, which is unlikely to happen in our lifetime (if ever).
I don’t think Israel or any of their allies actually think anything they do right now will stop all terror attacks. In fact, they all know that even replacing their government with moderate, rational, de-radicalized, non-terroristic leaders will just lead to them rebelling against those new leaders because most of the Gazans actually seem to want direct violent action and terror more than they want peace, infrastructure, better living conditions, economic expansion, independent resources, etc.
The true end goal of all this for Israel would be Hamas being expunged, new leadership being established in Gaza, and the continued terror attack attempts just being occasional lone wolf actors rather than a huge militant terror army ran by billionaires who pour all financial aid into underground tunnels and weapons manufacturing with the sole purpose of Jew murder.
But any of that happening is unlikely because there’s just so many Hamas militants and leaders to get, and Iran will just continue funneling money to any remaining leaders so they can rebuild and recruit more militants - which won’t be hard after so many young men have watched the IDF decimate their neighborhoods and blow up their friends and family members.
It’s pretty much impossible in the current state of the region to completely get rid of terror or violence. But if they can kill off a lot of the leaders and militants, destroy their weapon stockpiles, and plunge the whole area into a state of poverty and chaos, the remaining terrorists will at least be a smaller group that’s more low-rent and disorganized (even just for a while), making them a lot easier to fight off and nip in the bud than a huge, organized, heavily armed, well-funded terror government like Hamas was prior to the war. And that would be a sufficient end goal for Israel, at least for now.
