Fredrik Knudsen / "Down the Rabbit Hole" Guy / Loren The Owl - Youtube documentarian turned gay furry vtuber

I was genuinely hoping Fredrik would try to peel the veil on the borderline schizophrenic politics of EVE Nullsec but he just said "Grr gons"
Many such cases were schizo politics get simplified for the average consumer meaning "Grr Baddies" and "Yay Goodies". I would have been more interested in that too. But I think the reason for that is either that it wasn't the focus for this video or that most of his sources (I think I remember him saying that he consulted with some of the factions and friends) might just went "Grr Gons" at him and he took that at face value. I the reason is the former rather than the later.

Oh no he finally made kahntent on his channel what should we nitpick on now detractorbros :(
Why is it that every fucking thread you show up in, you derail it with your fucking autism?
Then again, I guess it's on me to expect legitimate discourse from someone who's personality is porn of a children's cartoon.

The level of research is surface level at best and doesn't even try to delve any deeper than "Goonswarm did this because Mittani didnt like Blue Donut saying grr gons hat gons"
Having read the name multiple times now, please tell me the goonswarm name doesn't have anything to do with the term 'gooning' a la Goon Clown and more like the actual dictionary definition or old Something Awful slang.

Just for comparison's sake because the videos came out within a day of one another, but it took Wendigoon 5 months to release his 3 and a half hour Ted Kaczynski documentary while he released regular videos in-between, and it's actually informative. Meanwhile Fredrik managed to talk about Eve for 6 hours (I didn't finish it tbh) while still feeling very surface level, and he expects people to believe this took him two years to do while all he did in between the May Island video and this one was low-effort livestreams and become a vtuber using assets made by a team and which wouldn't take a single person two years to make and rig up?
Come on now.

Watched only 30 min. It feels like he's just reading from a wikipedia article. Talking a little bit about the background then explaining the mechanics of the game, all in a very dull and monotonous voice.

Thanks for the heads up!
First time hearing of this channel

I hate to say it but Fred should have taken a page or three from Wendigoon and started doing hourly sequences of the EVE online rabbit hole and THEN made the giant video like Wendigoon did for the Conspiracy Theory Iceberg. He's shown you can make other videos AND also take time to show up on numerous other podcasts like PKA and The Official podcast, as well as some minor colabs with other youtubers. Fred? Has done none of that, and more insultingly wasted what I feel is a non-insignificant amount of funding from paypigs who huffed copium for hours waiting for this while Wendigoon shut his down the moment he reached a million subs and is basically funding himself from sponsors and AdRev.

And the real kick to the axe wound? Wendi did all of this by himself in the time that Fredrick wasted doing a single video with a production crew who ended up hampering then helping.
Edit: Thank you for proving my point that you made this stupid video as long as you did out of sheer spite, Fredrik.

Goonswarm was literally born out of the Something Awful forums.

The extent of my EVE knowledge is that it's a spreadsheet game where people spend thousands of dollars to build a spaceship that will be destroyed by some other retard. No one can sell a game with that sort of reputation. There's nothing to gain and no fun to be had. It's digital misery.
People don't spend thousands of dollars on a single ship just to have it blown up. Factions of players build up the resources to construct ships worth millions of spacebucks in materials. Coincidentally you can use spacebucks to buy an item that'll extend your account's subscription, which gives the spacebucks an approximate exchange rate to real monies.

Nobody would buy a space video game about exploring in your spaceship and making money in your spaceship to get new spaceships, and then just buy fake video game spaceships for their account that will vanish when the servers eventually shut off. For thousands of real life dollars. Nobody. Nobody.

Its seems Yahtzee and the forum have adequately summed up in mere minutes a six hour summary of a twenty year history of people wasting time and money on an overly technical online space warfare game happening in singular simulated world that is now mostly a graveyard filled with mindless roaming machines. I'll try to use the spared time well.

Also the narration in this video is notably dronee and AI-sounding than compared to his early videos. This one needs to be on 1.5x speed or higher to be tolerbable while his early videos are just fine on normal speed and sound more spritly.

Ever heard of Star Citizen?

As someone who has always been curious about the reputation surrounding EVE Online, I can't stomach the thought of investing nearly six hours of my day to listening to a video talking about it. That's not even a slight against Fredrick, I just think that I would've been more interested had he broken it up into parts and set premiere dates between each release. Five parts in total, each roughly an hour in length. Waiting for the next installment would've also helped in stirring interest and discussion amongst his fans.
Just watch MandaloreGaming video its like 30 minutes.

I figured out why this took so long to release: the game is dead and the video is already obsolete. The only reason he released it is was to satisfy his obligations to his Patreon. Now that he has, he's free to dive into the VTuber shit he actually cares about.

Every forum I can find about EVE right now talks about how the game basically died in 2021, nullsec hasn't changed in years, the alliances only fight each other for the sake of it at this point, and in 2021 the game coofed so hard that numbers drop below 10,000 during the USTZ (which, to put into perspective, means that there fewer than 2 players per system). It's even worse when you realize most people are boxing 40+ accounts at a time running industry jobs and none of them are human players.

Nobody can even explain to people why they should start playing. Apparently all the PvP is in this fraction wars shit which is just players shooting each other for the sake of farming points. That is total contradiction to the purpose of a player ran economy.

Just sad dude.

P.S. I listened to the entire thing at 2x and watched most of it. It's OK. It's kind of interesting but there's no real payoff, no moral, nor real build-up. The least satisfying kind of ending that is simply "and so it continues, but less interestingly". The early parts are much stronger with some introspection into how the company basically got a big head thinking they revolutionized gaming forever. The bookend of the story is "the big alliances got really bored one day and decided to fight Goon, who won. It cost a million dollars and took 2 years."
Right on que, null shows up into a thread with lukewarm topic to drop his low level iq take without even looking into the matter himself, instead looking at "forums". Nigger, eve players are saying its died all the way from 200-2005 when it was released.

Well that all but confirms that he has no intention of doing any more DTRH videos. Makes me wonder if he's gonna keep the Patreon up to keep the passive income from people who forget to unsubscribe from it, or if he'll actually take it down.
