Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

How is the game right now in terms of bugs? Does it still lag constantly?
I linked a video on this earlier in the thread, here it is again
No, they are not fixing any bugs and in fact are just introducing more of them and making the game even less stable. You would have to be extremely naive to think Gamefreak are going to do more than bare minimal for this piece of shit, they will pump and dump another shitty DLC and that's that, they're moving on to the next game. In case you haven't noticed, they couldn't even be arsed to add any voice acting in a game where they managed to give us a (bland, generic and dead) open world, so why should they bother with the monumental task that fixing this game's issues would be?

If you want to play it for some reason, just do it. SV is not getting any better, not with the current DLC or the upcoming one, I bet most of it will just bring back cut content anyways like in SwSh. I heavily suggest you just play this on an emulator, it is not worth spending any amount of money on this game. The game just isn't fun, the "wow" factor of being able to go in any direction and do whatever you want(lol, as if) fades QUICK and you see many issues start piling on, only compounded by bugs, instability issues and the godawful game balancing the moment you go off the intended game path(which is never told to you btw).
Werster played the game at launch, and I figure this is about as good of a preview what you're getting from this game as any, nothing major aside from a piece of DLC has been added since and no amount of sprinkles will make a dog turd taste any better:

Pokemon sv is so fucking broken. Pokemon are spawning in the wrong areas now, roaring moon does not belong here

The incompetency on display here is almost unbelievable that it might as well be sabotage.
Unfortunately, Game Freak has no real incentive to unfuck the series - despite the many, many, many problems with Main Line Pokémon games (the spin offs tend to be alright, if not outright great), the franchise is a money printer to an absurd degree, thanks in large part to two very prominent parts of the fanbase. Those being Literal Children, and Autistic People. The series is essentially boycott proof, and Game Freak seems to know this.

The worst part is, nothing's really managed to crack any of Pokémon's market share - we have the occasional attempt at it, but they just get brushed off for not being Pokémon or for not scratching the proverbial itch just right (the less said about 3edgy5me Rom Hacks the better - oh no, you made the game harder and gave it a dark storyline, how fucking original). There's probably a market for it, just on account of lapsed fans, but to date no one's managed to so much as shake the table.

Unless something comes out of fucking nowhere and manages to recapture the lightning in a bottle that started this series - or Nintendo themselves get directly involved, but this seems even less likely at this point, despite the embarrassing state Pokémon is in in comparison to Nintendo's other flagships - , Game Freak isn't going to improve a damn thing. And for how much I still love this series, that's a fucking shame.

Don't forget troons and coomers. Latter have been with the fanbase since about as long as rule 34 has existed for, and made sure to give the games a ton of free advertising(same goes for non-rule 34 artists). The former have been big in Pokemon fandom only rather recently, first time I was made aware of troons at all in Pokemon was during XY, when they tried to make Sylveon a "trans rights icon". Since then, they have rapidly been flooding the fanbase, with Sword and Shield being where it got noticeable enough for most people to see and Scarlet Violet where it seems Gamefreak jumped on the ESG bandwagon to openly appease to them.
Children and Autists(like Genwunners) ensure you will always have blind consoomers no matter what, Coomers/Artists mean that you will have your characters and Pokemon plastered everywhere with minimal effort to keep the current(and past) games in the zeitgeist no matter how the games actually perform, and Troons make the games more or less untouchable and give Gamefreak a ton more blind cultists that will attack anyone that dares to criticize the games. Any potential turn off from this doesn't matter, as the former 3 groups more than make up enough for that.
That's not counting people who like the Anime/Manga/TCG/Mobile Shit Games who are interested enough to buy the mainline titles of the year out of curiosity, or normalfags who just want to see what the fuss is about. Quite a racket they got going on, but the bubble will burst eventually. Even COD had to pump out a couple of decent titles once in a while before it got back to fucking itself royally into the ground, and their devs are far more competent than GF.

I dropped off with Z-moves: so it just changes the type of the Pokémon, and for most Pokémon it’s one of the types it already had? Of, they did to Z-moves what Z-moves did to mega evolution.
The nice thing is that the Pokémon files have a good deal of unused data. It would probably involve code from how transform works, but I don’t know enough of how the mechanic works to say for sure.
I, myself, was going to try and implement abilities, though not the same way gen 3 on does so. I need to finish what I’ve already started adding before I start on that, though.
My main problems are actually understanding how Terrastalizing works and how to code in Game Boy assembly.
By the by, I forgot o remind you that I am actually working in pokegold, not pokecrystal, since pokegold ha Super Game Boy and thereforme MSU-1 support. I wonder if you can mod fan-dubbed videos, too. Some people modded a FMV into The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The main restriction is the 4GB.
Speaking of Crystal...

What do you fellas think the odds on a Black/White 3 in the next couple of years are? Would you like to give Game Freak a chance or do you simply dread the idea?
I doub that hard.
If you want a Black/White 3, leave tha to the fans:

...and I awai the new Pokémon.
Honestly, I once mixed up the physical DLC release wi the Indigo Disk release, though I was expecting tha the DLC woul drop at around February.

Yeah, it absolutely is. I don't want to give Gamefreak any slack when every other major developer (and pass by me with the 'small indie dev' argument; they are developing for the largest media franchise worldwide) has done more voice acting than one person spelling out one word on the goddamned DS. Zelda and Metroid have more voice acting than Pokemon.

Besides, compare these:

and

and tell me we weren't absolutely robbed. I know the latter is fanwork, but that gym leader is literally a singer.
I hope that someone hack that song into the game.

I spent all day yesterday trying to get Hidden Power to display the type it will do damage as. Took four lines of code to actually solve the issue, but what do to was difficult.
I’m always amused at what they gutted from Gold when adding features for Crystal.

I wen through the reverse problem. There are forms of code that I had to alter because Crystal changed a lot of things. I could not even do th 'every ball has its own palette' patch from Crystal since the code runs that differently in Gold, let alone a fourth page that showed the DVs and EVs of your Pokémon.

Gen 5 game in a Gen 2 engine, with only the Unova Pokemon is actually a really neat idea. See, this is the kind of content I am interested in playing.
I'm playing thru Grand Colosseum right now and plan on playing at least one QoL Overhaul of each major game after this before I continue playing brand new games like SuperGold97, but this one is definitely going on my wishlist

That is more out of necessity. In general, you can have only up to 253 Pokémon in a Gen 2 ROM file, since 255 means 'cancel' and one slot belongs to th egg. There would not be really any room in the save file fitting over 1.000 mon, anyway.
That actually ties into my hack: since I cannot fit every moon in my hack, I would focus on the Gen 9 mon, then on any mon that are dependent on those (Annihilape depends on Primape and Mankey), then fill ou the roster with betamons and fan Paradoxes. That was the reason why I delayed developing my hack until The Indigo Disk drops.

Does that BW3 make a bunch of random NPCs dark skinned?
I do not know. I never actually played the hack.
I am not bothered, anyways, especially since Unova is based o New York.

NPCs in this thread aside, I'm almost done playing Pokemon Black for the first time. That's one of the gens I missed between gen 4 and PLA. I see why people praise the plot so much. It is definitely a high water mark for Pokemon stories (whatever that means to you; I'm personally easy to please with game stories as long as the game is fun.)

The climax is fantastic and Pokemon games should give you the option to use the box legendary in the final boss more often. That is one thing I think SV almost did right though that was pretty much just a scripted event.

The game design is simply on another level, too. Every gym has a decent leveling spot with its own heal spot nearby. That's the kind of quality of life I need from turn-based RPGs like this. After playing a lot of Violet recently, I was also very happy to see Cheren using Leftovers, and that was just the obvious held item. I really don't know why Game Freak decided to have zero fun making trainer battles in their quest for endless babyification.
I never could get into BW despite loving the visuals, music, and story. I know a lot of people defend it exclusively using gen 5 mons, but I just don’t like a lot of the designs and that ruined the game for me. But I recently started a randomized run of Black and am liking it a lot more (though I’m also emulating it on a big screen with fast forward, so it’s not the most fair comparison). And 3/5 of my team so far is gen 5 anyway, I just did the bare minimum amount of randomizing to make older Pokemon catchable.

I wonder if I just have good luck with glitches because I never experience the super weird ones when playing games like this. No super stretchy bodies, no falling through the map, no t-posing trainers or anything like that. I think my game crashed maybe twice, and that's about it. It makes me wonder how frequent they really are, or if I'm just oddly lucky and manage to avoid the most egregious of bugs.

I personally think it was a neat gimmick and fairly refreshing. There are also a ton of non-Unovan Pokemon in the post-game. If it bothers you enough, try Black 2. That's got a solid mix of Pokemon from all generations throughout the entire game. I just finished the fifth gym and I'm running Magnezone, Lucario, Azumarill, Leavanny, Gigalith, and Crobat. So, just two Gen 5 mons.

That's one of the things I like about gen 5, it gives the region some personality. You can't even get a Pikachu in those games without transfering or events, which is just too bold not to respect. I prefer it to gens 6 and 7 where you have to go out of your way to catch mons of those generations, there's a stupid amount of Alola mons that can only be found in a single route with a very low encounter chance, like Togedemaru, Mareanie or Dhelmise.

I can respect what they were going for, but I still don’t like it in practice. I’d be okay with a 50/50 split of new vs. old, or even 75/25, just don’t completely drop all old mons for the entire main game. XY is an improvement in that regard, but it’s still going from one extreme to the other.

In TCG news, Paradox Rift came out and it’s had an odd affect on the meta. Roaring Moon ex decks are proving to be annoying online (somewhat helped by the TCG Live devs giving a somewhat-decent deck out for free via the game’s Battle Pass) while Iron Hands ex is giving Miradon ex/Flaaffy decks a fairer prize trade for Stage 2 decks.

Oh, and a couple of Secret Illustration Rares from the next special set may have been leaked like some past Secret Rares were (in other words, they were stolen off of the packaging line), we’re getting Shiny versions of Mew ex and Tera Dark Charizard ex.

I’m not exactly pleased by this since TCPi was doing pretty good with keeping product in stock but this will just cause scalpers to strip stores down to the bone.

And that specific glitch (the Paradise Protection Protocol battle glitch) was fixed with the games’ v2.0.2 update, future patches will no doubt bring new glitches/bugs and GF will try to fix them when they can.

If you’re talking about the games overall performance issues that’d require GF to remake the game from the ground up.
Pokemon sv is so fucking broken. Pokemon are spawning in the wrong areas now, roaring moon does not belong here
Roaring Moon (and Iron Valiant) not appearing in Area Zero’s main cavern was apparently caused by a glitch affecting Pokémon with spawn probability rate of 1, said glitch also negatively affected how Pokémon like Sinistea and Charcadet would spawn and it was patched in the v2.0.1 update.
