I haven't seen this in the thread yet, a few days ago there was a leak of an Israeli policy paper from the Intelligence Ministry, "a small governmental body that produces policy research and shares its proposals with intelligence agencies, the army, and other ministries" according to the article. The source I linked is a left-wing Israeli magazine which says the Israeli government has confirmed the leak as legitimate. This is just a policy proposal, though, and not official policy yet. The paper reviews three options for what to do with Gaza after the war:

A) Import the Palestinian Authority under Fatah from the West Bank
B) Find some other local moderate Palestinian leadership in Gaza
C) Expel all Palestinians from Gaza into Sinai as refugees and pressure the int'l community to absorb them

Option C is recommended although they admit it's a bad look for Israel's international image, but basically accept it as a necessary evil. Option A is rejected because even the "moderate" Fatah government hates Israel too much, and because the PA is a corrupt and impotent joke lacking legitimacy even in the West Bank. Option B is likewise rejected because much of the Gaza population is also radicalized and no organic political current exists that is not radically anti-Israel and/or fundamentalist Islamist.

What they end up recommending is basically just that the Gazans be pushed steadily southward in a series of evacuations before eventually being herded out the Rafah crossing toward tent cities in North Sinai. From there the paper recommends the Israeli government put pressure on the West to take as many as refugees as possible. The paper specifically calls out Canada as having permissive immigration laws lol.

On a practical level I see where this paper is coming from. It's going to be almost impossible to establish lawful administration over the Strip and sort out who is a Hamas member, who is a sympathizer, and who is truly a heckin innocent civilarino. Local puppet authority or no, it's still going to be perceived as Zionist occupation and resisted with terrorist insurgency. Israel is going to look bad either way so why not go for the option that keeps Israel safer and just kick the fuckers out into diaspora.

On an ethical level though, I mean, this does fit the definition of ethnic cleansing, which is forcing populations to flee a territory with violence and/or threat of violence. Theoretically every random Gazan is innocent until proven guilty of working with Hamas, and entitled to the secure enjoyment of their home, property, and safety. To herd a couple million people out into the Sinai desert with a wave of bombs and tanks behind them and tell them lol good luck being stateless is pretty fucked too. Especially since the whole point of Zionism is that their own diaspora was so terrible.
