On the latest episode: it's definitely the strongest so far. It's not without it's problems, but given how things have been so far it's for sure an improvement.

We've repeated this ad nauseum, but with each episode release, the biggest issue of the show by far - the runtime - seems to be even more apparent.

The introduction of each of the freeloaders this episode felt imbalanced. Simon is directly introduced to the fish and the viewers by Sam and he introduces himself multiple times. When Lance is first introduced I thought they would show his imitation of the Vance pill speech as a way to introduce him to the audience - but instead he's kind of just sitting around for a minute or two not really doing much. You can call it a stylistic choice if you want - but even as someone who knew exactly who Lance was, it felt a bit off.

Which then made me realize - did they even show Vance's original Vance pill speech in the earlier episodes? (I've only watched them once so forgive me if memory fails)
(Edit: Just realized it's in the extras for episode 5. I don't know why they would put this in the extras instead of the main show)
Also given what she's done so far in the edit (basically nothing) I don't think it will make any sense to the audience how Josie wins.

They're definitely starting to use more actual editing/television elements like music & the basement interviews to help build storylines and moods for scenes. It makes it feel more like an actual show rather than just a clip compilation with a timestamp occasionally shown in the corner of the screen.

The best thing they could possibly do is re-edit the entire series so far into minimum 1 hour episodes using these techniques, but it's just not going to happen.

I liked it all for the most part. I think someone could easily come around after Jet is done making the episode and massage everything into a slightly better shape, though. Like this time around a few of the extras were just "scene from the episode, continued"... so they might as well just be in the episode.

If they cut it because they want it to run on some kind of streaming service I think they'll have to at least fix episodes one and two to add the missing context and update the editing to match how it is later. I noticed in this episode they added the fnaf buzz to the camera switching, which was a cool, natural addition but now every episode before it is going to seem odd because they don't have it.

Also, I just really liked Drunk Piece of Shit, a lot, and I'm wondering if Jet will put it in the extras for the next one as it's positioned in the chunk of time they skipped through where Chris arrived. Also the downstairs water gun fight was missing which is sad. Neither of them progressed the plot, in fact the watergun fight actively harmed the plot on the livestream because it was Vance's badly executed attempt to cut the tension, but I know there was HD footage of drunk piece of shit and it's got Vlance and the introduction of Chip in it and stuff.

I think next episode is going to either be horrible or good depending on this: the first two days when Chris arrives not a lot happened, and then Frank arrived. I think it would be better if they jump ahead to Frank, but I know there's like a 70% chance they string fatty doing standup out and Simon getting gaslit out.

This has been a common sentiment among those aware of him. Before Game On Expo, an expo Josie was committed to pre-Fishtank, he made very cringe jokes about meeting her there and also said he wasn't going to go. Literally "haha jk... unless." He's welcome to explain how they're not creepy.
He did end up going, asking her out, being denied, and then visiting her all 3 days and trying to give her retarded advice by his own admission. You can tell in his screed that he has never considered Josie's feelings or how awkward that had to be for her.

iirc, Jet originally got into MDE as an editor. cbf to find the video explaining how he got into it but it was because he had some editing skills and knew someone on the crew. I don't know what mde stuff jet has specifically edited but doing meme stuff or more experimental edits is a different skillset from trying to edit something from hundreds of hours to create a good story but the problem with editing still mostly comes down to jet having a different idea of what should be shown compared to people who are big fans of the show.
