If somebody in a R+20 state winds up replacing him, that allows the party to swing much more right-wing after McConnell, likely in a MAGA direction. But that might make it harder to win races outside of deep red states.

If McConnell has any say, we're going to end up with a RINO.
Most of the senior senate GOP are RINOs.

JD Vance is pretty much the only one I'd pick at this point.
He has the right seat to represent a new, blue-collar focused GOP.

I'd love Vance as the head of GOP leadership, but he probably needs another decade before that's viable.
Republicans are way better than Democrats at seasoning their leadership before handing them the reins of power.

Since the deep dive of what the fuck happened yesterday is starting to come out some interesting stuff to consider. In Virginia case:

2021 really could have been a fluke brought on by how bad the Dems were with the schools/lockdowns. Virginia basically is a deep blue state that is slowing going back down to purple that really need some of that money from the national party to help put it over the top.

Republicans successfully nominate Latinos all the time. They just count as white when they vote Republican lol.

Virginia is going to continue to march into deep blue territory unless the federal GOP either:
  1. scatter Obama's bloated DC bureaucracy to isolated pockets in deep red or hopelessly blue states (such as dept of agriculture getting moved to satellite offices in omaha, wyoming, boise, socal, etc - CFPB getting moved to NYC, etc - Department of Interior to Anchorage, AK, etc...)
  2. massively cut the DC bureaucracy
  3. (BOTH 1 and 2)
Until DC's suburbs are emptied of half a million Obama acolytes, virginia will be Michigan levels of difficulty for the GOP.

If I'm reading the numbers correctly is that 1000 votes going the wrong way in Prince William County was what decided whether or not the Virginia GOP gained a trifecta. Instead Virginia now has a former crack dealer (Senate) and a weed dealer (House) as it Legislative leaders.

Honestly through your suggestions are possible as well since no one wants to work down in the shithole of DC. And not just the crime! The building can't handle all the people.

They're probably the most republican-leaning demographic west of the Cascades, Washington and especially Seattle's bullshit is built upon all the fucking white migrants from the interior who hate their dad and vote accordingly.

I wouldn't even compare these guys to Reagan. Old Ronnie drove the USSR to collapse and destroyed the Iranian navy after they tried to shut down the Persian Gulf. The GOP today won't even look at a blue haired genderblob funny out of a crippling fear that Rachel Maddow might accuse them of being mean.

Ronald Reagan is literally the reason we have 70 million illegal Mexicans and our streets are filled with homeless fentanyl addicts.

He was the brainchild of mass amnesty and getting rid of asylums.

Also by the time Reagan was elected the Soviet union was on the brink of collapse due to economic collapse and political turmoil. Bugs Bunny could have been president and they would have collapsed.

The Reagan dickriding must end. He was one of our worst and most destructive presidents.

He's literally not. The amnesty for enforcement deal failed, but the whole reason it came up in the first place, is Congress had been successfully stonewalling Presidential attempts to secure the border - including Carter's request for enforcement power against businesses in '77 - since the 1960s. Without the amnesty deal Congress would have...gone right on denying the executive branch any resources to meaningfully secure the border, just like they did before '86, just like they did after '86, and just like they do today.
