Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

I'm not 100% sure who made it originally, but it's hilarious how accurate it's proving so far.

I drew it, and I take pride in its implications.

All roads lead to Autism.

I'm confused, how did she convince someone to publish this shit? This article is like basically the same story told in like the dozens of articles about her. Gamergate, death threats yadda yadda same shit over and over again.

Gamergate is dead in the mainstream media, no one worth a damn cares about it outside of internet flame wars. What kind of reputable news site would publish this thinking it would be something worth reporting on?

The fact that they allowed Wu to write this drivel really speaks for the quality of their site.

It's Bustle. Just another Buzzfeed, basically. As a matter of fact, from their submission guidelines:

DO be familiar with Bustle. Read the site and get a feel for our style, tone, and the types of stories we do before sending any pitches our way. Things about delicious cheese, feminism, American Girl dolls, etc. are all good places to start. We're especially looking for personal essays, original reporting, creative pieces, and commentary/editorials from a unique perspective.

It would appear that they are actively looking for the type of drivel that Wu spews. It brings in the clicks, both from SJW's who lap it up as well as haters.

I've been seeing this "Alt-Right" description being thrown around a lot lately... Is that just their rejoinder to the conservatives for calling them the Regressive Left for the last few months?

It's basically anti-Republican-establishment + racism, to hear the left tell it. I'm not sure how many people have embraced the tag -- many of the people Wu would definitely think of as alt-right are openly contemptuous of the alt-right. I suppose, like any title given to you by 'the other side', nobody's especially excited about it.

I'm not sure anybody's embracing Ben Garrison at all, perhaps because his art is so ugly. I've seen quite a few of his cartoons mutilated by replacing whatever he's making fun of with broad caricatures of Jews. This has the added bonus of making him sperg something fierce.

It's like when the left tried to pin Trump as an evil racist because David Duke supported him: just find one of your opponent's countless idiotic supporters and say that your opponent himself shares his qualities or all his followers do. It's simple guilt by association that only ardent kool-aid drinkers on either side buy into.

But Pokemon is so terribly complicated! How could Wu ever explain the rock-paper-scissors principle poor, simple Frank without spending at least a day on diagrams and figures?

The reply is golden.

Lol, I knew it would be no time at all until the Alison Rapp moral crusaders caved in on their boycott. I'm just surprised it took Wu so long.

It's difficult for "normal" people. Wu consideres herself better than everyone else.

Do keep in mind that it's not just the conservatives that have been calling the SJW-folk and their kin the Regressive Left. I'm fairly certain that there's a decent chunk of moderates and not as extreme progressives or liberals who have helped in spreading that term.

I'm mostly guessing that alt-right has become a thing due to this circus of an election debacle and that nobody cares about GropingGrooves anymore, so now anything that even remotely makes you think of Trump is supposed to be the new Cthulhu. Basically, the new "them".

A larger chunk of the left than most people realise think these people are batshit, they're just not as strident in saying so. My Facebook is almost entirely made up of left-wingers (I'd even say I lean more to the left than the right) and a lot of them ridicule SJWs. Hell, it was Dave Rubin (a liberal) who was instrumental in getting the term "Regressive Left" into popular circulation.

Wu has already forgotten that she "introduced" Frank to Pokemon last month. Also, that's another $200 Wu has dropped on vidya. $40 more if she really did buy Frank a new copy of a Pokemon game.

Publically making fun of your husband by making him look like an idiot is more important than sticking to your prnciples.

. . . And now she reveals that she's never been online with the new games. Online battles set all Pokemon levels to 50. Prior generations had it at 100. Like many of her video game-related lies, this wouldn't be so noteworthy if Brianna hadn't been talking about how great of a Pokemon trainer she is only a short while ago.

Here's hoping Wu is vain enough to post replay videos of her playing against Frank. In the newer games, you can actually have scrimmage matches against the AI using teams from videos, so if you had one of the 3DS pokemon games you could actually play against Wu's team.

Flynt's going to be an investigative journalist?

:story::story:

Hahahahahaha FUCK NO.

First off, doing any kind of real investigative journalism requires an immense amount of work, cultivating networks of sources and sifting through large amounts of information that usually looks very boring at a glance. It's not like some movie where you steal a garbage bag from someone's office and then find out a scene later that he's a spy.

Second, and this is the reason Flynt's "investigative journo career" would crash and burn like a drunk driver crossing the centerline into the grill of a Mack truck:

You need to be totally dedicated to accurate reporting, making sure you have backup for everything you write. When you're digging up people's dirt and publishing it, the facts have to be airtight. John is constitutionally incapable of honesty. So much of his self-image and narrative is based on lies that he cannot be honest, full stop. He sees evil in anyone who disagrees with him and measures everything in the world against his view of himself as a flawless martyr.

If any editor were idiot enough to take him on, the best case scenario for them, and the more likely one, is that they would tell him to hit the bricks after rejecting a few terribly written and sourced articles.

The much more amusing but less likely scenario is the one where he actually manages to get something published by a noteworthy news source. It would be a pack of lies fit to make Stephen Glass blush, it's the only kind of article he could write. The big question is how bad the damage would be. A stain on the publisher's reputation, very likely. The end of Flynt's career in news, almost certain. Lawsuits, very possible. Multiple careers in ruins? A mainstream media shitstorm? Tard rage? All within the realm of possibility.

I think the work involved will put Flynt off following this path before he can even really take the first steps. But I could be wrong. Hope springs eternal.
Most "journalism" today is just cloaked activism. Wu could easily fall into the field because it requires no talent or experience. Basically just find what's trending in pop culture and pen an article about how it's racist, sexist, bigoted, etc.

New season of Narcos coming to Netflix? Write up a quick story about how their portrayal of South Americans is another sign of white imperialism. The Edward Snowden movie is just around the corner. Quick lets write a story about how Hollywood keeps focusing on white men instead of people of color for their stories.

I could write for half these online rags and my only experience is some high school journalism courses.

Looks shit.

Also i'm pretty terrible with grammar but does the title really need a comma before the "too"

The comma before the too is not technically necessary, but it's not wrong either.

It's a stylistic choice. Some publications insist that it be used, but others insist that it's an example of over-punctuation and that the meaning is perfectly clear without the comma.
