First off, doing any kind of real investigative journalism requires an immense amount of work, cultivating networks of sources and sifting through large amounts of information that usually looks very boring at a glance. It's not like some movie where you steal a garbage bag from someone's office and then find out a scene later that he's a spy.
Second, and this is the reason Flynt's "investigative journo career" would crash and burn like a drunk driver crossing the centerline into the grill of a Mack truck:
You need to be totally dedicated to accurate reporting, making sure you have backup for everything you write. When you're digging up people's dirt and publishing it, the facts have to be airtight. John is constitutionally incapable of honesty. So much of his self-image and narrative is based on lies that he cannot be honest, full stop. He sees evil in anyone who disagrees with him and measures everything in the world against his view of himself as a flawless martyr.
If any editor were idiot enough to take him on, the best case scenario for them, and the more likely one, is that they would tell him to hit the bricks after rejecting a few terribly written and sourced articles.
The much more amusing but less likely scenario is the one where he actually manages to get something published by a noteworthy news source. It would be a pack of lies fit to make Stephen Glass blush, it's the only kind of article he could write. The big question is how bad the damage would be. A stain on the publisher's reputation, very likely. The end of Flynt's career in news, almost certain. Lawsuits, very possible. Multiple careers in ruins? A mainstream media shitstorm? Tard rage? All within the realm of possibility.
I think the work involved will put Flynt off following this path before he can even really take the first steps. But I could be wrong. Hope springs eternal.

She's too spineless to do that since Chelsea is still a sacred cow.
However, SocJus may eventually turn against Chelsea. Chelsea's out for herself first and foremost and she doesn't contribute much to SocJus anymore. She's now a reminder of a major episode in their history where they stretched their credibility to support a scam artist.
Eventually a rising SJW star may decide to tear down Chelsea in order to build power for their own clique. There's plenty of material for them to use. They could point out the extreme whiteness of Chelsea's developer group. They could mention how fiercely Chelsea attacked Candace Owens, a black female entrepreneur, for effectively muscling in on Chelsea's CON turf. The accusation of racism could really be her kryptonite.
If something like this happens I think Wu would turn on Chelsea full blast.

It looks like at some point, and definitely not recently, the city cut that lower branch because it had likely grown to the point that it was hanging too low.

This is why we need a "missed opportunity" rating.
SocJus will only turn on Chelsea, Sarkeesian, or Harper if/when the whole gravy train comes crashing to a halt. They've defended convicted pedophiles. They've defended obvious scammers. The figureheads of this movement could get arrested, tried, and found guilty of murder or fraud in massively publicized trials and there will still be orbiters screaming about how their actions were justified.
The only way these people lose relevance is for the media and society at large to react so negatively to association with the clique that their supporters start freely disassociating themselves. The bulk of the reason these people are so fervently supported is for social asspats. If supporting them became a liability the whole house of cards would come toppling down.

I'm not saying they may turn on Chelsea for moral reasons, like the fact she's a scammer. If there's a move against her it would happen for political reasons. There's only so much attention to whore for, and if you're a member of one of the more obscure SocJus factions, one way to raise your profile is to tear down a leader for sins against the ideology. Chelsea's not that useful to SocJus anymore; observe how Anita tossed her aside. The residual goodwill she has won't make her an easy target, though.

Well, Wu's article is out, and it's predictably awful. Instead of conducting any sort of analysis and informing readers of what the alt right is, it's just "The alt right is a thing. Gamergate is the alt right! I was a victim of gamergate, dontchaknow! Me, me, me! GAMERGAAAAAATE!"
If Wu's new journalistic career is just going to be continuous sperging about her being the biggest victim of gamergate, it's going to be pretty short lived. Even the low standards of places like Bustle aren't low enough for repeat performances of this shit.

Nope, nobody on the staff....the sad reality is that John reuses these early transition pics everywhere, because he (rightly) thinks he looks slightly more human and more like a female. These were the old version of the "Goth Brianna Wu" pics with the haircut and the red hair stripe & sunglasses that he uses everywhere now. It's probably got more to do with the shit diet and the smoking.
I doubt Wu eats anything but the Soylent and BA crap and maybe some meals from ingredients that were bought the (gasp) regular way. The pictures of the BA meals make it look like most/all parts of the meals are overdone in some way (granted, the BA food is apparently dicey quality as is) so I don't think either Wu is good at cooking. And don't forget the takeaway we've been told about too.
Wu probably doesn't really eat any fruit either. Feeling a little peckish? Soylent (bar) is right there. Yummy!
And smoking is just terrible for your skin, I should know because I smoke.
All that makes for very early aging and looking gangly as fuck to boot.
