Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

These New York Times articles where they're being so blasé about "oh yeah there's been ever increasing need to draft women, Ukranians have been forming special women only training units and encouraging women to sign up and fight".

I hope one day they will look back and think long and hard whether it was worth it and what it was all for. I know the ghouls in the west never will because they clearly don't care. But maybe the Ukranians themselves at one point will think about what this was all for.
No because all they see is white goyim died so they can replace them.

Which need to be purged. Stay the fuck out, we don’t need westoid refugees to flood in, demand gibs, and then try to enforce the idiocy that destroyed your own countries. Sit in the mess you made.
Now, I havent been to Russian for a decade now. But generally foreigners especially whites from the west or Australia. Tended to integrate rather well. Not to mention being suprised how actually different it was from the picture painted by the west. Yeah, their Russian ain't perfect. But compared to modern youth from Kazakhstan and the ilk it's more then good.

Western Leftists hate Russia because they abandoned communism.
Western Leftists hate Russia because Russia preemptively attacked Ukraine and from Trump's 2016 victory to Hamas' attack of Israel, Western Leftists were completely taken in by / taken over by the US Democratic Party line. from 2016-09-11 to 2023-10-06, they were in thrall to the Dems.

Good grief how the mighty troon has fallen:

It turns out that many captured Ukrainians have volunteered to switch sides and fight for Russia and UKR would have you believe that Russia is handing out loaded machine guns to enemy prisoners and is somehow forcing them to shoot at other Ukrainians instead of using them against their captors to escape.
From what I've seen, the only people turning on their command are Ukrainian conscripts.

being a meat grinder with NO AIR SUPPORT, NO MISSILES, NO BOMBS, is certainly a major driver for mutiny and also corrupt and weak government.

Say what you will about Putin but mofo kept Russia in check for a loooong time...

This is going to happen.
Western ground kit is failing because it is designed for police actions and mopping up after saturation missile and air strikes, not actual war against an enemy. None of these things in the list above are new and all of them are effective against Western kit.
The western gear generally doesn't explode and kill the entire crew on seconds like the Soviet stuff.

People were conditioned from 1991 onwards to think of war as 3 days of combat with total causalities in the few hundreds and deaths in the high dozens maybe.

The US hasn't had to fight a peer opponent in over a half century due to diplomacy and the eventual fall of the potential opponents due to idiocy (USSR) or similar.

See the Ukraine Bradley's and Leopards getting hit. They usually don't explode into a gigantic fireball instantly and the crew or part of the crew usually escapes.

It's working as intended.

The "derp derp derp western gear isn't made for war" types need to see what the Soviet analogs do when they're hit and penetrated.....

Also, all the screaming about "Western over reliance on air power". No shit, it's an advantage and you use every advantage you have.

No one with dumb takes ever looks back anymore. Which is why they then move onto the next dumb take.

What a bizarre way of viewing warfare holy shit. You're not going to be dropping JDAMs on IFVs for very long when you're fighting a nation that has 40,000 of the fucking things and builds a hundred every month, and also has actual air defenses to shoot most of those down before they even make it to their targets

The Lancet is probably one of the best pieces of equipment to be rushed into widespread usage in a real war, ever. It can act as artillery and participate in counter-battery fire, it can harass infantry and its existence alone causes panic, it can be used as a tool to kill singular soldiers in trenches, it can easily destroy IFVs, APCs, trucks, jets and planes parked in runways, it will destroy any tanks that the enemy abandoned without forcing use of an ATGM or anything that would leave soldiers more vulnerable, it can sink boats that are being used by sabotage groups to cross rivers, and it can be used as a tool to harass (and even destroy) tanks. 60% of the M777 howitzers given to Ukraine and destroyed by the Russians were destroyed by Lancets.

The fact that the Switchblade is a piece of shit (it costs fifty fucking thousand dollars to make, which is hilariously inflated - the Lancet costs 35,000 and it's actually been proven to be good) that the US didn't bother making in any relevant number doesn't mean that suicide drones or loitering munitions (which are essentially just cheap guided artillery anyway) are "mediocre/not-so-impressive weapons". I can already tell the US is going to learn absolutely nothing from this war if this is the thinking in western circles.
>I can already tell the US is going to learn absolutely nothing from this war if this is the thinking in western circles.
It won't learn anything. The US is absolutely obsessed with conventional air power and will never move away from a military structure that is completely dependent on it.

The western gear generally doesn't explode and kill the entire crew on seconds like the Soviet stuff.
Lol wut? Have you not been lurking here that much?

Plenty of both of those have been completely slaged countless times at this point. There's a video of a Lancet 1 actually scoring a complete through and through on a Leotard a ways back. Also, plenty of times the crews of both sides have escaped from even the older model Soviet era vehicles when knocked out.
It's working as intended.

What the fuck are you even on?

This is some Lazernig tier retardation.

NYT copes by saying that despite the fact that women know they are being conscripted, despite forming female only divisions, and despite sending them to die, and despite the fact that NYT agrees that draft is coming. technically this isn’t a draft
Ukraine, as a nation, is dead if it resorts to this. It absolutely can recover from a large number of its male population being killed off, but when the women are dead and gone its over. No matter what anyone says women of child bearing age are absolutely essential to a nation's continued existance.

Former Ukrainian soldiers swear allegiance to the Russian Federation and join the ranks of the Russian military to fight against the Kiev regime. Link

They don't look forced, but rather relieved.

Agreed, women give a country a future.
As for the volunteers, the horrific thing about this conflict is Zelensky conscripting most from 'troublesome' minorities like Hungarians and Ruskies.
They won't. This people have been blaming Russia since the collapse of Soviet Union for all their messes and inabilitty to become a prosperous country. While by all accounts they had the resources and industry to be one. But hey! Somehow Russian in the 90' and early 2000's managed to constantly sabotage them. Nevermind Russia as a country figurativly speaking was that neighborgood drunk that could barelly put his pants on.
Yes, Russia was a disaster then, and its recovery should be inspiration to others.

This is really not all that surprising. Ukraine has been drafting much more heavily from Eastern Ukraine than it has from Western Ukraine so it's likely a big chunk of their enlisted ranks has at least some pro-Russian sentiment. I'm sure the suppression of the Kiev Patriarchate by an American installed Jewish dictatorship also plays a major part.

Also, all the screaming about "Western over reliance on air power". No shit, it's an advantage and you use every advantage you have.
Well, it is true, and this war shows what happens if you do not have air superiority.
Without air power all tanks just become target practice for the artillery that is dug in behind that mountain far away.

Not if you had 30k tanks lol....WW2 was pretty epic for that reason...
It's not often known to westerners, but in the most famous tank battle, Kursk, the Soviet Union enjoyed air superiority.
Westerners like to think of the Soviet Union as woefully inept at aerial combat, but reality is most of the planes were destroyed on the ground, not in the air. That's a huge failure, but not one of aerial combat. In the early war the I-16 was old but still effective (consider that the Germans mainly used a 1935 plane, Bf-109, only two years younger), and in the latter half of the war the Yaks were arguably the best fighter planes in the world, easily beating the German planes. Soviet pilots given American and English planes through lend-lease compared them unfavourably to their beloved Yak-3s, and French pilots agreed with that assessment.

The strongest argument against the VVS is probably the Il-2, despite how iconic it was. In one engagement Il-2s managed the impressive feat of destroying all 240 of the 67 German tanks present. The particular German unit however reported zero losses to aircraft that whole summer. But ground attack aircraft on both sides were pretty rubbish, that's not unique to the VVS.

How is the war currently progressing from the Russian side anyway? Do you anticipate them taking another swipe at Kiev before the year is out?
Russia's stated goal has always been to demilitarize Ukraine so it's going just fine for them. Russia is perfectly happy staying put as long as Ukraine keeps shoveling cannon fodder and equipment straight into their lines of fire.

Kiev has something like 3 million people who would be antagonists. If Russia had ever intended to conquer Kiev by force the initial invasion army would've needed to be about 10x larger.

So Russia has captured its strategic goals and is in a holding position? Won’t they need to deal with a 20 year insurgency like the US dealt with in Afghanistan?
