I think it should just go without saying at this point that taking people at face value and ignoring coincidences is the best way to deal with people when attention is only becoming more and more spread thin. To me it's more of a question of the audience. Some teenagers in shop class or a blue comedy club telling the old joke about the pedophile and the kid who's scared to go into the woods with him is just dark humor, I wouldn't think twice about it. This though is a panel of a bunch of lawtubers covering an outrageous lawsuit involving the state-empowered medical industry maliciously destroying people's lives and abusing children. The audience sincerely cares about this issue. Nick's impulse control at this point is at such a low though that he can't even pretend to care enough to not make jokes about the imprisoned sick teenager wallowing in her own filth has a poo poo pee pee fetish. He can't even pretend to care about this terrible thing done to someone he's expecting people to give him (and not the victims) money over.

There is apparently an internecine feud between rival groups of wine moms that has now ensnared LawTube. The defense tried to get one of the jurors kicked off the jury due to bias, which failed, but after the fact, the pro-defense wine mom faction are now alleging that they have discovered that his wife was participating in a bunch of YouTube chats about the trial, including Rob/Law & Lumber. The juror also reached out to Rob to do an interview after the trial.

I don't have time to post everything about this now, and I can't verify it myself because it involves closed facebook groups (I saw it on Reddit).

The below timestamped clip from Rekieta's stream seems to be referencing the issue obliquely (they're talking about how the juror asked to do an interview, but not that his wife was alleged to be in any live chats) but Megan is too stupid to realize what the situation is.

Rekieta's joke would appear to be an attempt at making a joke in the same vein, but it's shit. (No pun intended.) It's shit because it isn't funny and it makes no sense.

What fucks it over, at least in part in my opinion, is the fact that the joke is at the expense of a singular person who's gone through a traumatic event. The jokes you wrote (even though I don't really get them because I'm a real person and not bri*ish) are about a large group of people and aren't aimed at any singular individual. That lightens how harsh and ill-fitting a joke can be to me

I think it's a shitty joke to make at the expense of a 10 year old under any circumstance, and the timing is irrelevant. The crassness of it is then further accentuated by the circumstances of Maya's horrowing experience.

I will, however, give Nick the benefit of the doubt here and say it was indeed a joke. Albeit an incredibly unfunny one in very bad taste.

This is in contrast to Vito's infamous (and now deleted) tweets, which I (and apparently many others) think was Vito testing the waters to see if people would be sympathetic to the idea of a "non offending" pedo. Only after that went over like a lead balloon, and people kept bringing it up, was the cover that he was "joking" was adopted.

Sure, but she's not ten any more -- the clip I saw of her in court, she seemed to be a young woman. A young woman who'd just won a judgement for zillions of dollars. And it's not like she's in the room. So I wouldn't necessarily be horrified by a tasteless joke about her per se.

I didn't think it was as tasteless as Frankie Boyle's joke about Katie Price's kid and that wasn't even enough to get Boyle cancelled. He joked -- on national TV -- that Price needed to marry a cage fighter because she needed a husband strong enough to stop her disabled child from raping her. (The kid was eight at the time, had autism and Prader-Willi syndrome so is severely developmentally disabled).

Jokes like that just get him referred to by the media as 'an erudite left wing satirist'.

It's really just the context -- Rekieta was DESPERATE to get his joke that sexualizes a child victim of abuse out to a legal panel -- because he might be a non-practicing lawyer, but by God he wants the world to see him like Daddy Dax -- as a non-practicing comedian.

And the fact that it wasn't funny. I'll forgive most things if the joke is actually funny.
