I'm a big fan of the gay Mr. Robot show. There is nothing even remotely close to anything Kubrickesque about the cinematography. The cinematography is very different about how it frames shots. Not Kubrickesque, just intentionally idiosyncratic. The fact it is shot that way is not particularly revolutionary - more like it is taking certain visual styles and accentuating them. If anything, it cribs more from modern takes on noir.

And they do a lot right with the hacking, but they make mistakes as well. There is no way this idiot would know if Kali was a Linux distribution or a EDM performer. And if he did know what a Rubber Ducky was, he'd know just where they fucked up this past episode.

For normies:
GIT is run on a shell called "bash". You type something for the computer to do, it does it. Its also so fucking easy, every employer wants you to know it. This was something Wu had difficulty grasping.

Within Mr.Robot, the main protagonist heavily uses bash. The fact that Wu says "it gets everything right" without knowing bash, means he has listened to a few of his competent programming friends and believed them.

Long story short: Mr Robot does contain real methods and real responses of hacking tools. But Wu is too stupid to know it. All he has done is listened to more competent people and repeated what they have said.

That YT monetization thingy is probably YT trying to get better margins for their ads / trying to make them more effective.

Example:
Having a McDonalds ads pop up in a video that contains pictures of a earthquake and a bunch of starving children doesn't exactly cause the association you want to consumer to have with your product. Ideally you want your burger should pop up beneath whatever positive stuff your target group is interested in. Puppies, Kittens, inoffensive stuff... and so on.

The show is loaded with obvious references to Kubrick's work and the guy behind the show is a huge Kubrick fan. The lazy so-called reporters -- do we know any of those? -- who have little or no knowledge of Kubrick's work are simply running with writer-director Sam Esmail's claim that "Kubrick’s oeuvre informs the series."

Nobody who is directing a TV show is producing "Kubrickesque" cinematography. Kubrick would spend hours obsessing over a 15-second take to ensure that he got just what he wanted on film. No one working in TV has that kind of time, even if they are ripping off specific shots from some of Kubrick's work, a technique that reminds me of renowned lolcow Iconoclast's constant use of the word homage to describe plagiarism.
