Maybe not at that time, and definitely not while giggling as he said it, but there were ways to make it work. Still not great, but at least it’s a joke that has the same elements without sexualizing the trauma being described as it happened. It also makes the joke less about the victim and more about how detestable adbl’s are.

When I think of bad jokes with bad timing, I really think of Gilbert Gottfried’s 9/11 joke that he told like 2 days after it happened. making a joke about 9/11 that soon wasn’t what made it a bad joke. It was a bad joke because he told it at the wrong venue. It was a roast of Hughe Hefner, roasts are mean jokes about the people there. The 9/11 joke has no context or purpose there and it was clearly just shock to shock.

Rekeita doesn’t understand how to use shock humor, and unlike Gilbert, he doesn’t have the comedic talent to bounce back from such a blunder
