Honestly it's a shame you don't see more WWII nose art style influence these days. Our grandfathers were truly a special breed.

Modern airplanes still carry nose art. They don't allow tits anymore because God forbid anyone see a naked woman on a jet designed to bomb people. This is about as close as you're gonna get.

Did you ever want to see John Cena and a bootleg Spongebob on a Mudhen?

How about transformers on an F-15C?
F-15-Starscream.jpg
The navy has much stricter rules on nose art, but this rather famous jet managed to have this pinup for a little while. Come to think of it, VF-111 "sundowners" is a pretty neat squadron. Of course they were attached to the Pacific fleet just so they could visit Japan as often as possible.

This one is rather infamous because this particular airplane was lost in a raid over Japan with all crew killed not long after this photo was taken

These next few are silverplates, AKA airplanes modified to carry the nuclear bomb.

The Mosin is not a bad rifle for what it is. I'd argue it's also probably the only bolt-action milsurp rifle that's still (relatively) cheap to acquire and with readily available ammo.
Dating myself but I'm of the era where every I knew had a Mosin and spam can in their closet as their starter milsurp rifle for 200 bucks. The Moist Nugget was a meme for a reason.

Modern-ish airplanes still carry nose art, but top brass faggots
Don't have an opinion on this but like tits and naval aviation.

Sometimes cheap batches come in of surplus from other countries, but the Mosin is consistently cheap. It may not be as cheap as it used to, but it's still pretty good. Animarchy is just seething

I mean, I own an SMLE No.1 Mk.III and a Mosin (one of the M91/30s). Objectively speaking, the SMLE is a better bolt-action rifle in practically every way. It's more precise, magazine holds more ammunition, bolt's far smoother...but it costs around $2.70 every time I pull the trigger, and I know if I have to have work done on it, it'll cost me a pretty penny.

But my Mosin is far cheaper to shoot and cheaper to repair if I fuck it up.

That being said, why is he seething over an SVT-40 and an AK?

Because Russia bad and ignorance of guns most likely.

Because it's Russian, but this is coming from a retarded communist who's never held a weapon in their life. He's definitely not a gun person. I'd give my left nut to own an SVT. There was one at my local gun shop, but it was locked up before I got the scratch to buy it. I'll forever regret not buying it.

Sources are in cryllic. Russia, this how you do propaganda. The days of massive quantities of rifles and ammo getting imported are over. Weep for what was. We had cheap .303, once. MAS rifles of every variety just sitting barrels in mom and pop joints.

Military "analysis" by people like LazerPig is too narrow. Every time it's about some specific system specs or another and, as pointed out before, never takes into context things like what the country that built it can afford, the tactics used for it, etc. However, specific system analysis by dudes like The Chieftan do make sense considering they were supposed to be experts in their own field and system and would naturally extend this into an interest about the system within the same category.

What doesn't make sense is that LazerPig does the system specific approach while supposedly being an intel guy. To the uninitiated, I will tell you this: it's very common for intel guys to not know jack about any system unless they're asked specifically to get that information. Even when they do get that requested info, they'll go back to not knowing much. Most intel dudes are basically secret google monkies who get pimped to make slideshows and briefs. A few might be subject matter experts, but it'd be much more about general tactics than anything about very specific systems' specs. This is just another reason why LazerPig's claims of being a former glowie make zero sense. He wouldn't fucking approach military analysis the way he does if it was the truth.

I will forever be kicking myself for not buying a warehouse's worth of the things when they were going for sub-$1k for a crate. The only thing I walked away with from that time was a 1938 Tula ex-sniper round receiver I snagged for $125, and that was a few years after the height of dirt-cheap mosin mania. Its interesting because the receiver is cut for the '36 PEM side-mount and either it went through WWII and got its original configuration beat to shit, or it was a casualty of Tula's teething issues they had with their early PEM sniper production as the rest of the rifle is a refurbishment from a Ukrainian depot in the late 40's or early 50's. In any case, it shoots fantastically well and I love my lil' Alyoshka.

It makes perfect sense when you realize Piggy isn't an intel guy at all. He's just another google monkey, so the hyperfocus on individual systems makes sense. The man also clearly lacks a basic understanding of industrial production let alone military tactical conventions and it shows in how he interprets these machines and their roles. This thread has posited the theory that if he ever held any role in the intel community it was most likely interning at some civilian think-tank, a position that was either so minor in function or so fleetingly finite in time actually spent by him performing that role that he would rather make-up stories about throwing grenades into his russian tanker bf's asshole in the wilds beside the Volga than try to invent stories based on his supposed time being a low-level glowie.

None of his stories make sense. Best we've come up with is that he is drunk a lot, add in being a military forum user in the 2000s shouting at retards, mixed with a kernel of truth judging by his blog posts suggesting he wrote a paper at one point- if he ever was a glowie, he wasn't big, some type of pencil pusher, and they got tired of him quickly. He also might not have been at all and he's just trying to stroke his ego and look smart. Honestly with how fucked up he is, judging by his early life, he might not fully remember himself

That's why I don't think LP was ever a glowie, they usually keep what they did on the down low. A few break this unofficial rule but even they keep their shit in the realm of possibility. LP's stories are usually a tad out there, like him having a Russian "boyfriend" within the Russian military and somehow not getting an inquiry because of that.

It took half a year after Chris-Chan was arrested before the Chris-chan YouTube community started turning on each other. It took like 6 to 7 years until Gamergate YouTube started defending woke marketing and shilling pronouns. Meanwhile, Ukrainian Redditors didn't even wait half a year until they started turning on each other. Pointing out the Ukrainian military wasted billions and disobeying NATO wishes gets you labeled a Russian shill. Fast forward Ukraine now begging Donald Trump to save them. He went from Putin puppet to Ukraine top jew admitting Joe Biden failed Ukraine. Ukraine is going to break the west worse than the US failed Afghan withdrawal. I wouldn’t be shocked if laser pig start crying about Ukrainian Nazis soon.

Tex of the Black Pants Legion has implied that he works for a civilian think tank as his day job and his content tends to focus on one Battletech weapon system at a time (the Tex talks Battletech series) but if you were to compare him to LazerPig on knowing how the sausage is made when it comes down to why, when, how, and how soon something is produced or provided by and for a military industrial complex, it's astonishing how much thought rooted in learned knowledge goes into Tex talking about big shooty robots compared to anything LazerPig does.

Tex's problem with his content is the opposite of Lazerpig's though. Tex overproduces his videos to the point that they take literally hundreds of manhours that are mostly spent on polishing up the visuals and music for a form of content that a lot of people are going to listen to in their car. At least he genuinely gives a fuck about what he wants to put out there with his name on it, though.

That was painful to read. At least your generation had a shot of getting those rifles at a decent price. I think I paid 399 for my SKS on a black Friday deal, nothing close to what it was.

I pretty well agree. I do say there's a chance he was a contractor, for the sake of probability, but for the most part, i believe hes either making it up or crazy

I mean you don't need a Medical license or a psychology degree to know LP has mental issues. Brain damage plus alcoholism tends to fuzzy up the mind quite a bit.

The Mosin was a fine rifle… a hundred years ago.
Mauser is still superior to it.
I'd personally rank the Mosin as a B-tier in bolt-action rifles. It's not a great rifle but it does its job well.

The tier list is 'Is it a Mauser?', honestly.

Don't at me, cock on close cucks. If the British could get a rifle out in under a decade the SMLE would be remembered like the Krag.
