Simon Greenleaf, a renowned Professor of Law, whose authority of the subject cannot be understated, cited his conversion to Christianity in his book An Examination of the Testimony of the Four Evangelists by the Rules of Evidence. He approached the matter of Christ’s resurrection as a skeptic and concluded that the devotion of Jesus’ disciples were evidence of a great truth. A transcript from his book:
“The interests and passions of all the rulers and great men in the world were against them. The fashion of the world was against them.” […] “Yet this faith they zealously did propagate; and all these miseries they endured undismayed, nay, rejoicing. It can be argued that Cody’s devotion to Nintendo, the multi-billion dollar game corporation, is on par with what Greenleaf personally observed in the disciples. While the conviction of the disciples transcended flesh and reason, Cody’s only transcends reason.

Known as Harman Smith on his YouTube channel, taken from a Killer7 character of the same name, Cody has made a name for himself as that retarded Nintendo fanboy who throws thinly-veiled tantrums whenever a non-Nintendo IP gets positive attention anywhere on the Internet. A man, nearing his thirties, cannot handle others enjoying games that are not Nintendo products, or on platforms that are not the Nintendo Switch/Wii/DS. Naturally, an endless river of milk and salt flows from his mantitties.

He is very much a YouTube Lolcow, routinely covered and made fun of by other YouTubers in the gaming sphere. The videos mocking him tend to net tens of thousands of views while Cody’s sit around paltry 10s, 100s, and 1,000+ views, the latter number only occurring when the wider audience is made known of his existence.
Cody’s an interesting character. He is transparent, oblivious, and lazily vindictive. He rides (and gets off on) the extreme highs and lows of online gaming discourse. He is one of those “gamers” who spends more time reading game-related arguments on the Internet rather than playing the games he supposedly loves. 4chan is his fount of knowledge, and the shitposters on that website have warped his reality beyond repair. His fervent views on the gaming industry verge on schizophrenic. Imagine your typical /x/ poster but with video games. He believes that there a massively coordinated conspiracy against Nintendo, the multi-billion dollar company, because he cannot wrap his head around the idea that some people have grown out of Nintendo’s IPs.
He is a manchild. It’s an exhausted term for sure, but there are few descriptors that fit him more like a glove. He is not a manchild just because he is sloppy and unkempt in his videos, or that he focuses way too much on games, Anime, etc., or the unfinished and basementy quality of his surroundings, it’s because he refuses to open his mind to anything new. Whatever pops his cherry first reigns supreme forever and ever. Children are guilty of this by nature. A kid will defend something to the death if it’s being compared to something they’ve never seen or listened to. For example, a little kid who’s obsessed with Spiderman being told by another kid that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is better will argue that Spiderman’s waaay better, despite never having seen TMNT. When this mentality carries on into adulthood, it produces some of the most stiff-necked and irritating people you can come across. Even Chris-Chan, Chief among Manbabies, is more adaptable and mature in this regard than Harman Smith is. When Chris finally got his hands on an Xbox, a console he despised for its perceived threat against the PlayStation, he admitted that it was a fun, good console, and that he was secretly envious of the people who could afford it. Cody fosters the same feelings of envy for PlayStation, PC, and everything boasting better hardware and games, but refuses admit it. That would require a maturity he is not capable of grasping.
His favorite word to use is “narrative.” You’d be hard pressed to find a gaming video of his that does not contain it at least once. He purports ad nauseam that there is a “narrative” to “downplay” Nintendo. Gamers ignoring Nintendo, showing indifference toward the games, are interpreted as a direct attack. A journalist writes a fluff-piece Baldur’s Gate 3? He’ll release multiple 11-minute-long videos decrying the media’s efforts to put down Nintendo and prop up these “terrible” and “overrated” games. You enjoyed Elden Ring? The Resident Evil 4 Remake? Hell, Candy Crush? It’s only because you hate Nintendo. In Cody’s mind, there is no other logical explanation. “But I own a Switch. I love Zelda,” you might say. Fuck you, that’s not good enough. Are you a Nintendo fan who is critical of their business practices? Or occasionally their games? He labels you a Pretendo.
YOU ARE NOT A GAMER
Harman’s gotten himself in a lot of controversies. Amusing, bewildering controversies. It’s difficult to record for posterity because he says confusingly stupid stuff every day, but this particular incident merited him a lot of criticism and strife.
March 25th of 2023, he released a video where he has an absolute hissy fit, raging right out the gate about other consoles existing. This was a year after Elden Ring melted his brain and lit an unquenchable fire under his ass. Naturally, he cannot resist throwing multiple jabs at it in a video meant to tackle hardware. He jumps from topic to topic in quick succession per his directionless style.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE COPE & SEETHE
Cody hated, hated, hated that this game was not on the Switch. He starts off this infamous video forcefully laughing about how terrible and reprehensible it is. Apart from the whole “waaaah Capcom released this on EVERYTHING other than the Nintendo Switch” comment, his complaints are rational in the beginning. After all, the original’s grittier, stylized environments don’t translate in a more realistic adaptation. The animations are arguably not as cool as in the original either since they lose a lot of that action-hero stiltedness. He has a point there, except when he throws in “fluidity of motion” to sound smart. It doesn’t take long for him to go off the deep end in his Nintendo cock-gobbling, however.

He describes his ideal Resident Evil 4 remake as a 1:1 of the original with improved graphics, performance, and maybe some extra content. Of all games, he uses Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe as an example of a perfect reiteration. This ideal version of RE4 already exists. In 2016, Resident Evil 4 HD was released on the PS4 and it is much easier on the eyes. Also, a higher quality version of this has existed for a long time on the PC thanks to an ardent modding community. Harman already has his dream RE4, it just isn’t on the Switch.
He does not own a PS5 or Xbox Series S. There’s no way he’d allow those irrelevant, overpowered boxes in his house. His only means of playing this game’s demo (if he isn’t lying and just watched YouTube videos of it) is through Steam via his “gaming PC.” His gaming PC is a Dell G15 gaming laptop. By the looks of the specs, it only meets the minimum requirements for the remake. His experience with this laptop is the foundation for all of his PC gaming hate videos.

Dismayed and triggered, he attests that we were given modern Resident Evil 4 to suggest it is infected with left-wing ideology. He says that they race-swapped Hunnigan: a negligible but fair point. He then complains that they had Leon speaking Spanish. If you haven’t played either game, the player character, Leon, has been dispatched to a Spanish island. In the remake, they have him speak one line of poor Spanish to a local. It’s a small change that makes a lot sense. The original had his gringo-ass go up to a villager and speak fluent English to him. Cody mentions this tidbit in a disparaging tone, like they betrayed Leon’s character to pander to modern audiences. This is a ridiculous nitpick. Since Cody has no other examples of pandering modernism, he cops out and says it has bad storytelling in general.
He is sour about first real fight/confrontation taking place during a cutscene as opposed to the original, but he refrains from talking about how the remake expanded on that confrontation after the fact to make it exciting and scary for seasoned players. He’s about to, but he stops himself and cries “pacing.” In a contradictory ramble, he blames young people and their ignorance of Resident Evil’s deep history and lore for why the remake is getting so much praise, but said he hated the emphasis on Leon’s traumas from a previous game. Given that Cody fancies himself an author, this grievance is irrational. Doesn’t it make sense for the developers to explore events of retro Resident Evil through Leon’s memories? Either way, this element has such a small impact on the game it’s hardly worth drawing attention to. Cody would be worshiping this game if the most downgraded piece-of-shit version of it possible was hamfisted into his beloved Switch.
Four minutes into this video, he asserts that the original was good because it embraced that it was a Nintendo exclusive. His dishonesty is something to behold. We know that this is the crux of his angst toward the game. Everything else is a desperate whimper for his favorite console to be validated. He’s made a handful of videos over this remake, screaming into the void over his outmoded Switch being passed over for a port. There is no malicious bias or scheme being concocted by a shadowy Nintendo-hating secret society. Game devs would love to have their games available on such a widely owned console, the damn thing just cannot run most games. I don't know what it'd take for him to realize that.

The director of the original Resident Evil 4, Shinji Mikami, posted a tweet endorsing the remake and Harman was not happy. He posted a video trashing the nearly 60-year-old man he previously lauded, spelling his name wrong ‘cause of course the wannabe novelist would do that. Mikami’s endorsement of the remake cemented him as an enemy to Nintendo, and God forbid you hop that fence.

Side note. There is a weirdo named Spencer Williams who comments on lots of Harman’s videos in agreement with him. This very well could be a sock account but I haven’t reached a definitive conclusion on that.
SELF-PUBLISHED AUTHOR
Taking a glance at his channel, you can see his bio refers to his writing pursuits more than his Nintendo occultism. A decision no doubt left over from his more earnest days as a creative with stories to tell.
Unsurprisingly, his books are not very good. His style of writing is confusing. He is one of the millions of online writers suffering from Anime brainrot so bad they cannot write proper prose and illustrate scenes like they're not in a TV show. I'm having a hard time describing it, but you know when you see it. Regardless of his lack of skill, he has plenty to say about the work of others, George R.R. Martin being one of his targets. He’s gone after Andrzej Sapkowski too, author of the Witcher series. Apparently, anyone who says the Witcher 3 the greatest game of all time needs to play more Nintendo.

I will not say his criticisms are invalid. Citing a lack of conclusive feelings for your dislike of a book is acceptable. Although, a man like Cody has to be very careful scrutinizing the narrative talents of others. As cringe of a subreddit as it is, he’d be an excellent contender for r/menwritingwomen. I was watching it and thought Shinji was a complete bitch for not going for Rei OR Asuka. I came up with this concept of an abusive female vampire preying on a willing human victim. The idea originally was to make it a sort of dark relationship drama with fantasy elements, but it became more of an action novel as I established the antagonists and the character of Soleil Blade, a young Female Vampire Hunter whose family has been trying to exterminate Amaris Yew for generations.
In some ways it’s not a whole lot different from my other work, but I think the character of Amaris Yew is probably one of my all time favorites. I feel that most western creators tend to shy away from sexualizing female characters, and I challenged myself to break that trend with this sultry vampire. I really wanted to emphasize that this chick was hot as hell and that Mike, the human protagonist, was really attracted to her in spite of all of her bullshit.
In a way I feel like the novel is about how it’s more important for a woman to be a good person than to be beautiful. I’m very proud of this one.

The book's opening can be read in the sample. Amateurish and cliched is putting it simply. Cody doesn't understand the importance of the first lines of your book, how they need to hook the reader immediately and establish what kind of a story you're telling. "She was different from the other girls" is a strange choice from a man who loathes generic storytelling. This was published only three years ago on Valentine's day, by the way. He would've just turned 25. He never was, at any point, a 13-year-old girl.

I’ll give him an ounce of respect for displaying some growth here. He acknowledges that his previous depictions of the vampire lady were fetishistic and the protagonist was essentially a bland self-insert to explore that fetish, but now the protagonist has set his sights on the pure/innocent archetype from that book. Basically, his goth girl kink matured into a trad housewife kink. So… In terms of being a weeb coomer, he unlocked the good ending.

It’s interesting how sometimes books that you write turn out entirely different than when you first start out. I began writing American Evil with envisioning the character if Windsor Elionwy and created the protagonist to be her love interest. As the story and themes developed, however, my initial ideas turned into something else entirely.
Windsor Eilonwy was originally going to be the main female lead and wife of the protagonist. Although I came up with the concept of the character entirely organically, I designed a male character to be her love interest. The entire purpose for the male protagonist to exist, initally, was to be a love interest for her. As the story developed, however, and I made the decision to introduce Soleil Blade from Cruel and Beautiful as a major character, I chose to make the decision to make her the love interest instead.
There are a couple of reasons for this: Namely the fact that I’ve grown to realize that I dislike the notion that I ‘need’ characters to get together simply because I originally designed them to end up that way. Margaret Mire was meant to be a love interest for Jack before being killed off in Eye of the Dragon. Belladonna and Jack’s romance was going to be the focus in the original concept for Jaw of the Dragon, before I decided to overhaul the entire thing and scrapped the entire idea.
Jaw of the Dragon in particular is a big reason why I’ve decided to move away from this idea of characters being ‘made’ for each other, because originally the idea for all of Jack’s love interests was that they would die in violent ways at the end of each book and he would just get a new one by the start of the next one. The idea was to emphasize that Jack isn’t a particularly sentimental person and cares very little about the needs of others, but I had to scrap it because the original ending of Jaw of the Dragon involved Belladonna sacrificing herself so that Jack could kill the Jaw. I scrapped the idea, because in the end Belladonna was hardly in Jaw of the Dragon and it wouldn’t have made sense. But becuase of that I completely ruined the entire relationship arc I had planned for them.
Ideally I should never have set up Belladonna as a love interest at all, and instead focused on action and character drama. Live and learn, I suppose.
But it was this issue that led to me to making the decision to go in a radically different direciton for the characters. Soleil had been promoted to love interest, and by extension, co-protagonist. The story, completely unintentionally, almost seems as if it’s running parallel with Cruel and Beautiful. In that novel, Soleil was desperately trying to save a young man from being in a relationship with the evil vampire Amaris Yew who was only using him for her own gain. In American Evil, Soleil has gotten married and is working very hard to build a relationship based on mutual trust and responsibility with her husband.
The idea with Cruel and Beautiful was that a heavily fetishized evil vampire who would gladly do all manner of depraved sexual things with you wasn’t necessarily the best thing for you. The idea with American Evil is to emphasize how Husband and Wife need each other, and should support each other regardless of whatever life throws their way.
In Cruel and Beautiful the male protagonist never once sees Soleil as a woman, always insisting that Amaris Yew is the one for him. This was very much intentional: Soleil was meant to come across as much more pure and innocent than the sexually charged Amaris: She was meant to be her foil. So seeing her develop into a vampire hunter housewife has been, I think, a really interesting turn for her character. At the time of Cruel and Beautiful I had no plans to ever marry the character off. But now I feel as if the entire thing is perfectly natural.

When he’s a talking about his books (anything non-Nintendo related, really) it’s actually nice to listen to. I love hearing the process of how stories are made, no matter the quality of the story, because it gives special insight into the creator’s mind. If Cody stayed true to his YouTube bio and reserved his channel for writing and book discussion, he’d be someone I’d watch in earnest, maybe network with. No lie, Cody is pleasant and semi-intelligent when he’s not bitching about media he didn’t create. You can hear the contrast between salty Cody and relaxed Cody. It’s startling how he turns into a completely different person when the Nintendo yokai possesses him.
His writing ventures deserve more exploration but I’ll reserve that for the future. His videos still take center stage in their impassioned absurdity.
NICK REKIETA / THE SEKTUR

Cody was ahead of the curve on the Nick Rekieta drama because of his unbridled hatred for the guy. He lambasted Null for not bending to requests to discuss him. During this time, Null was on decent-ish terms with Nick. He was not maintaining the relationship to keep a steady flow of revenue by association as Cody accuses him of doing. Nothing outrageous enough had really happened yet. That’s debatable, I know. But that would soon change. Someone like Cody is coming from a place of utter hatred, wanting to see a man he deems objectionable sentenced to a social crucifixion, while Null wants to laugh. Null holding off on covering Nick ‘til the implosion was funnier than if he was drip-feeding Rekieta salt into our veins for years on end.

So, why does Cody hate Rekeita so much? I investigated this, although I didn’t have to. One of the reasons he hates Nick because he reminds him of Gamergate grifters, like Ethan Ralph, who did nothing to quash corruption in game journalism — in particular, the anti-Nintendo conspiracy. He hates Rekieta so much that Null’s momentary indifference toward him was enough to make him hate Null too.

He has legitimate problems with Nick Rekieta as a person, outlined in the videos above. He says Nick doesn’t have conviction and will only discuss whatever makes him the most money. In his most hypocritical video yet, he explains why he unsubbed from Rekieta and implores others to do the same, and it’s because Nick allows his biases to dictate his opinions on things… coming from biggest screeing Nintendo fanboy on YouTube whose bias has arbitrarily limited his media consumption. He cautions everyone against giving Rekieta money and instead financially investing into a better future for themselves, for their communities and families, as he sits in his empty and depressing little house in bumfuck nowhere Indiana.
He speculates that the majority of Rekieta’s followers are fatherless, which is kind funny.

Harman was one of the many grave dancers who celebrated the downtime of Kiwi Farms. He takes moral issue with the Farms for all of the banal reasons normies do. He says it’s “creepy” to follow online individuals as much as we do, even though he has a whole playlist of himself reacting to Nick Rekieta’s content. He calls Null shady for his interactions with Chris-chan, ignorant to the fact that Null felt he had to step in after the Idea Guys scammed and manipulated him. Knowing would not assuage his thinking, however, because KF was too nice to Rekieta at the time, and he’d rather hold onto a misconception than give Null any credit.

Circling back to his manchild status, it bleeds into things other than Nintendo. 4chan is the second biggest example. He should love something like Kiwi Farms because it has every component that someone like him would admire: unbarred speech, conservative creatives, anti-Sony threads, and so on. Alas, he didn’t come across Kiwi Farms first, so it’s not as good as 4chan. He takes no moral issue with 4chan and criticizes KF for many things that 4chan has been and is doing. He thinks you’re a no-life incel if you are a member of Kiwi Farms. If we’re going to take that term literally, you cannot convince me that Cody isn’t involuntarily celibate at this point in time.
Some times passes. There're unsavory revelations that Nick disclosed willingly, sullying his image to a degree worthy of mockery. Harman's opinion on the farms, and Null, lightens a little.
Since he was invested in Gamergate and all of its nonsense, Cody is aware of Ralph and claims he always knew he was a degenerate. He goes through the timeline of events of the Killstream in his Superman pajamas while he awkwardly fumbles with a hairbrush.
He reacted to Arm Pit Cream’s post on the Kiwi Farms sharing footage of the gunt-on-gunt violence back in 2021 (man, I forgot how irritating Digibro is, lmao). Retard’s webcam is covering most of the fight, but his commentary’s pretty based.
Harman, seriously, join us on the Farms. You'd love it if you just dipped your toes, and you'd be getting access to the cow news long before the general public does. I know you. Any bullying or teasing from the other members would roll off your back.
BONUS NINTENDO RETARDATION
Before we go, I have to highlight the most perplexing aspect of Cody’s Nintendo worship: his denial, and prayers, that there will ever be a Switch 2. He grins ear-to-ear when he finds an article shutting down rumors of a Switch 2 and laughs in the faces of the Pretendos who want that second system.

I have not seen this syndrome among any other console fanboys. This is bizarre. He preaches with fervor that the Switch is perfect as is and that there doesn’t need to be a second one. He’s content being held back in the dark ages on shitty hardware to prove a point. If a Switch 2 announcement was stealth-dropped tomorrow, he’d feel betrayal midst the excitement. PS5 has insane reddit-tier fanboys (a lot of them are black dudes for some reason) and I’ve never seen one rage at the idea of a new console generation. They might be a little too eager for the new shiny box every half a decade. Cody, though... it’s like he’s protesting the drafting of the Bible 2.
Yeah, if you’re a Nintendo fan who’s excited for an updated Switch, you’re a fake fan. You haven’t sworn your allegiance to the sacred Switch, to the hallowed Joycons.
He can’t help but bring up Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3 again (this video was uploaded FIVE days ago) and how Zelda’s Tears of the Kingdom upstaged it. Bethesda, Rockstar, Larian, all other game studios, won’t concede to their collective defeat and admit that the Nintendo Switch is the amazing platform. He uses words like “replaced” in objection to a Switch 2. He is furiously outraged by the people demanding a replacement. I must reiterate that I’ve never seen this mindset in another fanboy before.
He likes the idea of siding with a game company who, despite putting in no efforts to advance on a technical level, is easily dominating the market. I think Cody finds comfort in that sort of possibility for himself.
