I would be surprised if the rise in LGBT wasn't just a catch-all for the rise in T+. More people than ever are identifying as different genders. The silver lining of that is that most seem to be kids who will likely grow out of it, unless they're groomed prior to that and start transitioning. The rise in trans kids also has the added effect of a decline in LGB teens and adults (unless you count troons/pooners).

About all of the anal destruction stuff, I genuinely believe it's just an excuse. Lots of people think gays are gross for good reason so a claim as sensational as that becomes easy to accept. But the amount of abuse you have to inflict to your body makes it incredibly unrealistic to believe that even a significant portion of gays are experiencing broken sphincters. It's also not how gays operate on average. Fetish circles like the bug chasers seen in The Gift are a thing, but they're also incredibly niche.
