Hey Josh, I hope you see this before tonight's show because you glossed over something last episode and inadvertently perpetuated a gross misconception.
I am referring to the news reports about the Vatican saying trannys can be baptized and serve as Godparents.
The TLDR of it is that the actual announcement is rather nuanced and, partially due to a translation issue between Italian and English, it's being misreported and sensationalized by the news media.
By no means is the Church baptizing or approving of unrepentant, active, trannys. The headlines would have been more accurate if they had said "detransitioned people" instead of transgenders. The terms and conditions that accompany being baptized essentially prohibit people such as Liz Fong Jones, for example.
Attached is the official, translated, release if you care to read it, but mainly to prove I'm not lying. Additionally here is an excellent, albeit lengthy, YouTube video explaining the situation clearly.
Personally I'm disappointed in how this was handled. It's one thing for the news media to misrepresent and sensationalized the words of the Pope or official Vatican statements, that's nothing new and us Catholics who choose to spend time online are used to it. What's disappointing is the fact that the Vatican knows that the media does this and should have been extra clear with their language to compensate for it. As I said, it's my understanding that the translation from Italian to English had a role to play since the Italian doesnt differentiate between someone who is actively living that lifestyle and someone who has repented of it and de-transitioned, but even then I believe they could have done more to prevent this from being scandalized by the media.
Bottom line, never take anything the mainstream media says about the Pope or the Vatican at face value.
