This strip really reveals how petty and unfunny Dobson is. Instead of bringing down the "antagonist" with a witty or funny remark, the way to resolves and delivers a punchline is with literal use of violence. This is as literal as "Where is the joke?!" as it gets. Also it shows how he lives his fantasies vicariously through his drawings because Dobson is too much of a spineless little bitch to strike at someone in real life.

What kind of idiotic rose tinted nostalgia bullshit is this?! This is ridiculous, the character of Zelda has undergone multiple iterations and interpretations throughout her history as the leading female character in the franchise, each a design made to reflect the changes and design decisions taken by Nintendo to fit with the game she appeared in:

but what does Dobson do? select as "favorite" the one that is the bastardized version of a shitty saturday morning cartoon Nintendo doesn't even recognize or acknowledges because of how objectively fucking bad and off character it was. And then he wonders why people hate his art, his sense of style and aesthetics are as shit as that worthless series it is barely worth remembering.

It's like, of all the versions of Tom and Jerry he could pick to emulate, he picks the notorious ones made on a shoestring budget in Albania..... it's almost like he's deliberately picking things to get everyone riled up against him so the narrative of oh-woe-as-me can continue. I only wonder if he's doing it on purpose at this point or has internalized it to the point that it's subconscious?

Yeah, those comics of his makes me want to buy the comics and gear from the "antagonists" than the blue bastard. Far too many times to count, Dobson is a smug know nothing at all who is unpleasant in his comics and real life. Agreed about Zelda. The key thing that bugs me about Dobson is that acts like people are beating him down when it's his own doing and attitude that earns him enemies.

One of my favorite things about Dobbo is even in his portrayals of himself, he comes across as an utter dick. For instance, in his lengthy tale of how he insulted his girlfriend's family at the Hanukkah celebration they graciously invited him to, when he described himself being a total psycho and somehow thought this made him look good. Somehow.

Or the poop radio incident, where again, while he tried to spin the tale his way, it was incredibly obvious what an unreliable narrator he was but, at the same time, his autism kept him from realizing he'd basically given away what really happened anyway.

I wish he'd write more long narratives like this because it's really where he excels at failing.

Oh, yeah, definitely. Even in that video draw of Link, he colored Link's hair brown with a sort of "HA HA! I know this will make you blonde Link fans mad!" tone and in his explanation.

Basically his same childish mindset as to why he made his Garfield ripoff comic.

Extreme nostalgia goggles, stubbornness, and the fact that he has not developed mentally or emotionally from the time he was a child.

Nostalgia goggles are "I liked it then, it still must be good."

Stubbornness because "I liked it then AND I'M NEVER WRONG!"

The rest, duh, he still thinks the "Butterfry" episode of Pokemon is the height of emotional storytelling.

the sad thing about it being that I think many of us would have no problem that he has a soft spot for the cartoon if he wouldn't take it as serious with his stubbornness. I mean, I think many of us have some guilty pleasures from our childhood or other times, we know are bad. Dobson though... well, he suffers from the same thing as moviebob. He has build his own being so much around the stuff he enjoys, when you attack the stuff he likes, you attack him in his mind. Just imagine the shitstorm he would try to start if some people went on to bash Rumiko Takahashi.
